Correct. The old game system was rudimentary too anon. In SoC when offline, entities basically play fucking candyland on a spreadsheet. That's all it is. A-life is tracked NPCs who move to various spots and do dicerolls to see if they die.

S2 has this now but the spawning is still a bit wacky, I run into huge groups of a-life entities who all spawned in a big clump and fought each other to death too often.

Yes if you have before and stopped due to game breaking bugs but still want to see the story to the end.
