Living force is the last skill you learn in the esoteric text with all the shinobi moves. It allows you to buff your sword with your flame vent (fire or lazuli). Floating passage is that combat art you learn from the one pot noble in Hirata Estates, it's maybe the best zero emblem combat art in the game. So basically you buff your sword with fire and then go into a combat art combo with a buffed firesword.

It got a buff after release to where it now does damage even if an enemy blocks it, maybe some other buffs too. But yeah being able to combo after buffing with flame vent or even just buffing using the monk candies gives it tremendous value. The double ichi is very good combat art as well, good damage if not just for keeping your posture low during long boss fights. Praying strikes is good for building up the enemies posture bar, like O'rin. And nightjar reversal is good for getting in and out.

The real problem thing is you should be able to equip more than one combat art at a time. Like let me set neutral + l1 + r1 to be floating passage, backwards + r1 + r2 to be nightjar reversal, and forward + r1 + r2 be shadow rush. To me that would greatly increase the gameplay (its already really good though)

You get the spear from the one storage shed kinda near the moonlight tower by the castle. You need some key that you get from beating a miniboss or something (I can't remember). The whistle you will get after beating the ape. Those are the only two you're missing. Should probably get the spear before the ape fight, it can help.

And if you are at the ape, you could get floating passage back in Hirata Estates near the beginning if you got the carp scales to purchase it.

the most useful prosthetic is flame vent, at least once you have living force
completely btfos nearly all minibosses and helps greatly against most bosses or strong normal enemies

oil -> flame vent is very powerful
if you have living force you can skip the oil and maybe combo it with floating passage, spiral cloud passage, sakura dance, sabimaru or whatever you think of

>Maybe I should try to complete some questlines, everyone has DragonAIDS
Most people I think just leave the dragonaids until they beat the boss of the area. No point of curing it then going to die 5 more times against the same boss of the area just to have it applied again.

But also this is a souls game all the side quests are obscure and as obtuse as can possibly be so sometimes you got to use a guide.

Yeah unless they unlock some important shit (I doubt the fat retard in Mt. Kongo unlocks anything important for example) I might just skip them, I'm not gonna cure it now that I'm at the ape though. Plus you get those items from the headless that give you the re-usable monk candy buffs. Basically can buff fire and strength for floating passage. Floating passage also goes great with bestowal ninjustu for the same reasons as flame vent. Anyways glad to see it get some love int his thread. Too many fags say that combat arts don't matter in Sekiro while completely sleeping on one of the best offensive tools in the game.

ako's is pretty good for a first playthrough. i also feel people underrate the blue candy, helped me immensely for ogre
bestowal is amazing with some of these combat arts yea

i honestly dont blame people because sekiro does a bad job at encouraging players to do stuff other than L1R1, theres a reality where way more people would do it but theres a few silly aspects about it
For starters, emblems not always resetting to full on idols. A pointless timewasting mechanic at best, that makes you spend 5-10 minutes grinding to buy hundreds. In practice though? Most people dont notice just how worth it is to buy hundreds so instead they dont use prosthetics freely for the entire playthrough, which is plain silly
Another thing is early game prosthetics. Many tools like the axe will be comically shit at low levels, except extremely powerful against specifically shield enemies. So it really makes a lot of people think they are exclusively hardcounter or cheese tools

the game really should have placed some more incentive for certain concepts like
>lets have an early game enemy that gets btfo by anti air shurikens (other than lady butterfly)
>lets make the early game axe start really good as a heavy attack instead of only getting decent at the high upgrade levels
etc

If you are talking about that fucking monkey in the swamp(right outside from the 2nd snake's lair) you can land behind him and backstab him by swinging from the branches that are above him
Anonymous No.725556704 [Report]
>>725556402
Yes, shuriken can do that
Anti-air deathblow however is as advertised:
When the enemy goes airborne for some big attack, they tend to pause for like half a second
In this moment, if you jump you have the opportunity to kill them in 1 attack

Their HP or posture status will not matter
it's a 1-shot

Anonymous No.725557739 [Report]
>>725557019
its okay by itself but mortal draw will be much stronger
floating passage is best paired with something like Living Force that lets you augment your weapon with something that synergizes with multihits, or bestowal for crowds something
Anonymous No.725557882 [Report]
>>725556341
Yeah I definitely agree that emblem should just reset. The way they work in practice is either you're bad at the game/still learning and you don't have enough emblems (which is the time you actually need them) and then later when you're actually good at the game you have too many emblems. They just need to reset like your flask, that would be such a simple solution.
>>725557019
Mortal draw does good damage but it costs 6 emblems for its full two-hit mortal draw combo. It's too expensive for normal enemies if you ask me. And even against bosses if just doesn't last that long. A living vent + floating passage combat

Im just kind of confused about how sekiro handles mythology. The game has oni, but they're not like the actual mythological demons they're just big monster guys who get called oni because, well, they're big monster guys. And it seems like other yokai like tengu don't exist in this setting either.

Op, if you haven't figured it out yet, the best strategy in sekiro is forcing enemies into blocking when you can. Their options are limited out of deflecting you compared to neutral. Don't give them time and space to breath, if they're blocking you you are eating their posture for breakfast, when they finally deflect you it's your turn to defend.

a lot of people would rather play a game with its own combat and hitbox-based stuff instead of something that is way too much of a shallower sekiro really
but i love the talisman attacks and jades
>>725567302
the shuriken is great, but between an useful gap closer and an absolute boss raper, ill have to go with the former
also, flame vent is always strong. shuriken gap closing is usually worse than being able to keep the pressure up by just swinging the sword and going forward all the time which is almost always doable on any boss, so it falls off in relevance when you are playing too well
