>Most of our fantasies and isekai are inspite by Tolkien's visions and videogames like Dragon Quest which is more into the realm of Medieval Fantasy,
Honestly, Tolkien's books are honestly much more mythological inspired than people often think but it's very... measured. The hobbit is pretty obviously a fairy tale and largely written accordingly, but even the Lord of the Ring frequently flirts with it (And I'm not even talking just about tom bombadil). Hell, even Gandalf, despite being basically the archetypical idea of what we think of as a Wizard is a FAR more mythological character and most of his magic is actually fairly subtle(If not just straight up him just using pyrotechnics and fireworks). It is still medieval fantasy, but it's very much one that exists side by side a far more whimsical and fantastical world that you can tell was probably far more prevalent in the past. I feel like most fantasy since then either ignored or forgot about that, and as a result the fantastical elements feel far more utilitarian and, like you said, detached.
>Because if you play something like Monster Girl Quest it has to explore the monster girls themselves and designing them from the monsters and then the society.
I wish Touhou still felt like this, frankly. Most of the new manga make everything feel so much more boring.
