he may or may not have deserved it but they absolutely took advantage of him and then went back on their word
would I trust the seasoned murderer, or the government?

tough calls, tough questions

He was also a traitor to everyone he ever met. He fucked over the gang. He would've fucked over Ross. Ross was right to keep him on a leash and discard him when he was done. He had no right to that farm and that life. He'd taken it from countless others with no problem.

If it hadn't been for Rockstard's hack writters wanting a final tearjerker cinematic, John (the player) could have killed the entire platoon and the kike who ordered his death with ease.

He could have stayed inside the barn for cover and killed them one by one, just like how he/we do in the rest of the game. John's death is forced as fuck and is the reason I never played another game from rockshart.

It was a firing squad and he had a six shooter. Besides, even if he killed them all he'd be even more of a dead man, and they'd come for his family too. John literally opened those doors knowing he would die. It was the only way to keep his family safe. Grow up

Nah, Ross deserved to be capped, but John should have spent time in a cell, or been hanged. Even John himself was aware of it. He knew he shouldn't be allowed to just walk away.

The barn served as a cover, and during the entirely of the game you are vastly outnumbered by men with more guns and bullets than you. Gameplay-wise he/you could have made it alive without issue, but not, rockstard wanted John to die like a dog for the sake of the plot.

Anon barn burning to smoke out criminal scum was done all the time. As soon as John went for the barn, it was over. He walked out so Abigail and Jack could escape before it would've been surrounded and burnt down.

in my head cannon
Jack served in WW1 as a Doughboy serving a high kill count of Germans while hating his country. Then after he got discharged he moved to New York and became an author, knocking up a broad and having a couple kids.

Jack canonically surviving and becoming an author never sat right with me. While Ross deserved it, what Jack did should've sealed him into a fate of dying as the very last of the western outlaws. He would've gotten a few years to ride around until modernity fully caught up in the early 1900s, then someone would've killed him or he would've wound up in prison on some other charge.

yeah I like the easter egg in GTA V which shows a "J Marston" wrote a book called "Red Dead"
this lines up with his stated ambition during this very scene, right?

whatever happened to him, at least he finally sat down to write that book
that's what I like to believe
honestly I'm sick of GTA 6 shit already but I do wait for more "soft confirmation" that RDR and GTA are indeed the same universe, and it's canon, but officially it's just an easter egg

I like to believe that though

literally every one before him died brutally if we don't take in count the minority fan fiction characters like charles and sadie. Jack deserves to have a happy life since he was unwillingly born into a criminal life and eventually got the choice to get out it

that goes against his entire characterization. john wanted his family as far away from the outlaw life as possible and he knew dying was the only way that ross would leave his family alone. it's why going back as jack to get revenge on ross is something of a tragedy - it is the exact opposite of what john died for.

it does
but Florida gets mentioned on the radio in GTA V before the state of "Leonida" was created
it wouldn't surprise me if future games soft-retconned this further to have it all be one whole depiction of an imaginary United States
Carcer City from Manhunt is brought up by Michael at some point
wouldn't be surprised if Jason mentions being in Saint Denis for the parade earlier that year at some point or something like that

I'm waiting to see how it plays out

Wasn't Ross operating under the table? John was a wanted man, likely under penalty of death, and Ross cornered him. IIRC he's basically being strong armed into acting as his one man suicide squad implicitly to escape incarceration or death. His mistake was actually staying on the farm. He's not even racist, he could and should have fled to Mexico. But John was a stubborn thug at the end of the day, who mostly just did what people told him and then griped about it after the fact.

>during the entirely of the game you are vastly outnumbered by men with more guns and bullets than you

I am not that anon but you are clearly a retarded autist. Gameplay does not necessarily reflect story plot in most games. Really in just about every game this is the truth. The story writers might in a rare exception do this in a game but that is usually some open ended game that lacks much cutscenes or may be some RPG. I can't even think of a game I played that accounted for what you would logically do in gameplay but apply it to the story. I feel like you are somehow trying to bait so I won't even further reply to your stupid ass.

Anonymous No.725583367 [Report]
>>725572764
I kind of disagree. The story is about how you cannot just escape your past. Your criminality. John had to die, and so did Ross. Ross was not acting as a principled lawman. John was working for him, under the impression if he did what this new master said, he'd get to walk away. He finds out that isn't the case, and he accepts it. Ross is later killed for his own criminality. He could have done the right thing, and brought John in when he had him. Instead, he seeks out personal glory and success by doing backdoor shit with John. So he got his in the end as well.

Jack succumbs to a drive for revenge that John would have begged him not to undertake. At the end of the day, Jack deserves to pay for it in some way. After he kills Ross he walks off an angry outlaw himself. Eventually, he'll have to pay for what he did in some way. He even asked Ross's own wife where he was. That'll haunt her to her grave. He's not innocent.

>>725568829 (OP)
He was criminal scum yes, but at least he was genuinely reforming in rdr1 if you play the faggy way. Arthur on the other hand was a piece of shit killer and thief all the way to the end yet the game wants you to think he redeemed himself and that his death was somehow tragic lol.

you're a mongoloid. games are supposed to be a cohesive medium. if your ending contradicts what you've spent 99% of the game doing then it's bad writing or bad gameplay design, end of story. just because retards like you have no standards at all and are easily impressed when they are told how to feel doesn't mean you've got anything approaching taste. RDR is a great intelligence test for just how stupid and womanbrained some people are. you fall for the most plainfaced emotional manipulation possible and then get upset when anyone points out how fucking dumb that Thing You Care About Is. people like you are why videogames are 99% trash just copying eachother. you should feel ashamed, and very very stupid.
