Bird is still really good in normal mode and DoN 1-2 but after that, his practical use comes from stalling out ults so you can revive your downed teammates, and using his alt sub to make standard enemies into punching bags. He's the natural counter to Banished Knight hordes! Due to the scaling effecting stamina drain when blocking, you need an amazing shield to stand a chance playing him like he's supposed to be played, and without a shield like that, you'll also be taking a lot of elemental chip damage. The new rally effects you can get on the DoN relics can counteract that to a worth while extent. His damage output without the two new relic effects is bad, atrocious even, but with the str + dex one? It's still not good, but it's an improvement and the vigor loss doesn't really matter for DoN so you should aim for getting it. The faith one is really niche and only exists because there was no real str/fth build in the game without it, but we're getting a str/fth character with the dlc that will probably do actual damage, so...
Don't bring him for D3-5 ED Gladius.
