Anonymous No.725593251 [Report] >>725597362

Most of the people who fear monger about it are people who play above 1080p and like to leave everything on High/Ultra settings with all the post processing turned on. For 1440p and 4K, it makes sense that someone would be worried about it assuming they like to play above Medium settings. Another reason why 1080p is still perfect for me.

I use 1080p 144hz and it's sexy in a lot of games. Even games where I can't hit 144 are still really nice at 100+. You know how people will try to shill you that 1440p is a huge deal and a life changer? Well I'm doing that except with a 144hz 1080p monitor. It is nice and you'll notice how sluggish the mouse moves on a 60hz monitor in comparison.
It isn't a bad option if you intend to stick with 1080p and are happy with it.

It's absolutely better at 1440p and at 1080p it's better in most games, only slightly worse than the 3060 in others. It's also likely better with driver updates as the only comparison videos I could find are from around when the card first came out. Definitely still worth it over the 3060.

>dunno about AMD and don't trust their shit at the moment
Why's that? The high performance gaming driver for AMD is in great shape and still getting updates for first and second generation GCN. FSR, the open source alternative to Nvdia's proprietary closed source upscaling gimmick is also about to get an update that will expand its latest and greatest version back beyond third gen RDNA.

So don't believe the recent FUD. The only real problem is the RAM crunch has hit AMD and they aren't offering over 16GB on any mainstream graphics cards.
However, they do have up to 128GB unified memory on Strix Halo, and that is probably the most future-proof gaming system now.

8 gigs isn't enough for this dogshit era of electron coded uis anyways. I never rock less than 32 on ANY ddr3 machine because it's all so cheap

Is there any downside (latency, compatibility, etc) to going for a 48gb ram kit?
I keep seeing 48gb at almost the same price as 32gb now

I baby my computer so much and just pray it keeps living for the time being. Building a computer right now seems like hell and I feel bad for all the other Anons.

texture quality can single-handedly carry the visual presentation, until you run out of VRAM. even on a lowly 3060 12GB, games may run like shit but they won't look like shit.
and consider the game might not get all that. I'm idling at over 1GB VRAM usage because everything is a fucking web browser in 2025.

Just wait it out. Prices will crash, they always do. We just happen to have to share the space with goddamn speculators. You can just use things like Geforce Now to stream some games for free. Inb4 shill despite not recommending the paid plans. But even then, consolekeks pay their online subs euphorically. If you can't just leave your phone in queue while you do something else in-between, you DO have those options, not that I'd bother with them. It's too late now, anyway.

I'm fully convinced only the wealthy can enjoy PC gaming at a high level. A lot of people can't afford $1,500-$2,000 PC's. Go look up pre-built prices. You won't find one for under $1,000. If it's under $1,000 it will have garbage parts in it. If you want to do 1440p 60FPS you'll need at least a $1,200-$1,500 PC. You want 4K 60FPS? You're looking at $2,000 minimum. 1080p 60FPS? You might get away with an $800 build.

DDR4 is specifically affected because data centers are buying up all the DDR4 and DDR5 they can get their hands on. Only DDR3 isn't affected if you're still running parts from 2012.

I built an £800 PC which plays easily at 1440p high refresh and 4k60+. Or 4k high refresh in some multiplayer games with dlss like bf6 where I get about 100 fps in 4k dlss performance or if I drop the resolution scale to 83% (1800p or so) and use dlss balanced I get 130 fps+.

I basically paid ps5 pro money for a PC that is 10x more powerful

Bro. You dont need 4k144hz. You can have just as much fun with 1080p60hz and everything set on Ultra.
