Electricity, digipens, cameras, etc. aren't really comparable to AI. AI has fingers in every pie and doesn't really improve most things, it just makes more of it happen.
Taking aside how it affects creative endeavors and art, and just focusing on practicality, AI is being used for replacement in tech, CS, HR, certain payment avenues, education, low level office jobs, therapeutics, organization/scheduling management, advertising, sensitive research, and less scrupulous legal firms, among other things. It's also being used for scams, for children, teens, and university students to bypass their education, mass wastage of power for no real benefit, tricking friendless tards into suicide and delusions, breaking through opsec due to training data being unsecured, and churning out products that are lower quality than chinese bootlegs. It also makes most of the jobs it affects objectively worse to deal with as a human being.
The benefits to it are mostly related to data and other tasks that are numerically oriented or label-sorted. You can also use it as a study partner if you have enough self control not to just fuck your uni coursework up with it then touch up the errors, but most don't have that drive within them, given how something like 70%+ of students are using it to do their work if the news is to be believed.

My issue with AI, that I don't see anyone ever talk about, is the obfuscation inherent to it.

All throughout human history technological advancements may have been complex, but if you really, really want to narrow something down to the "how it works and how it was understood", there was some subject matter expert or some documentation that let you know exactly how every human invention worked. If something caused the world to explode unless we explained how a modern smartphone worked in perfect detail, we could do it with enough subject matter experts and documentation.

AI is inherently obfuscated because the nature of machine learning means that no person has knowledge or documentation on every aspect of the decision making, because the AI learns it from its own "experiences". It is the first human invention that cannot truly be broken down by a subject matter expert because it is inherently obfuscated.

I just don't think it's a good idea to make that part of basically everything. Adding a layer of completely unavoidable obfuscation no matter what kind of expert or documentation you use, seems like a bad idea.

I've yet to see a positive thing coming out of this push for AI. It was intended to be a tool, but it's becoming evident that it is just a means for companies to get rid of half of their work force and save themselves millions a year. NVIDIA pretty much doesn't give a fuck about graphics anymore and has shifted to AI POWER. The other side are jeets using to create more slop and more scams, boomers having their minds blown by 10 second videos and coomers using it to flood every gallery site with their shit images.

I remember Elon saying he warned congress about the dangers of unregulated AI, and now he's shill #1, pushing this shit onto everything he touches and now is aiming to become the world's first trillionaire.
