Yup it's not a problem. Left stick moves character forward and backward which works better in the upper position because it aligns with your thumb. Right stick is look left and look right which in the lower position still aligns with your thumb. There has never been a single reason for the left stick to be lower. And if you absolutely must have symmetry for the sake of symmetry then WiiU pro is the best symmetrical controller.

In that announcement video, the fact there was only one split-second segment of someone actually having their thumb on the trackpad leads me to think that the trackpads cannot be used as your main movement and camera controls. They'll probably be designated for radial menus and menu-heavy games with no gamepad support.

Transladies and Gentlemen, I am here to announce that I own an original Steam Controller, and I can confirm that trackpads are awkward and inferior to sticks. I used it for maybe two weeks before switching back.

I also want to add that the original steam controller was tainted for the same reason by early testers. We could have had one with a dpad instead of an entirely useless and redundant thumbstick.
