Tyler didn't say it was going to be announced today thoughbeit.
In fact he was almost spot on today. The VR, Controller and Steam Machine were all found alongside the same datamines that showed off HLX. So yeah, hopium is here.

It's a codename duh.
There's also a game codenamed "tf" in the datamines which people assume is going to be one of the demos for the valve VR set or machine.
Reminder that Half Life: Alyx was announced just days after the reveal of the Valve Index.
There's absolutely no way that Valve announce new hardware like this without also an upcoming announcement for a game of some kind. Especially when their newest product is VR. Like, there hasn't been anything notable games-wise in VR in like 4 years why invest all that money and time into a product like a new flagship VR headset and not have a new game to bring people to it??
Like why would you build a rocket ship only to not have a destination to get people into the ship?

Index was announced in April, Alyx got announced in November the same year.
