Interesting find, OP. Ubi's shares have been eroding consistently and were almost below EUR 6/share. If you're still someone who's holding Ubi stock, you're probably praying for a buyout to recoup some of your lost cash.

This. Were at the logical endpoint now of the Console arms race. What will happen now is IPs will be consoldiated into the hands of 3 to 5 companies who hold most of the major/popular IPs (Nintendo, Activision, Tencent, Sony, Microsoft ect.) What will happen next is sort of akin what happens with the movie industry where some IPs might just be sat on while others get dusted off every 5 to 10 years to see if they can make some money off the name. The most blackpilling thing about this isn't that some slop franchise like Assasains creed is being owned by Tencent no its that several of the smaller less known IPs that had promising futures now get put into the hands of a company thats highly unlikely to sell it (and do anything with them) unless they just would rather have the liquidity which companies often don't search for unless they are avoiding bankruptcy.

>Ubisoft’s Chief Financial Officer, Frederick Duguet, has told staff in an internal email that Ubisoft’s stock has been paused to “limit unnecessary speculation and market volatility” during the short delay of reporting its first-half earnings.

>The internal email provided to Insider Gaming reads,

>“Hello everyone,

>I wanted to let you know that we are taking extra time to finalize the closing of the semester, and as a result we will publish our first-half earnings results in the coming days instead of tonight.

>Due to legal regulations, we cannot share more information with you at this time. To limit unnecessary speculation and market volatility during this short delay, we have asked Euronext to suspend the trading of our stock until the results are announced. We know this is likely to raise questions and drive media coverage. Anonymous No.725759006 [Report]
>It’s unusual for any publicly traded company to postpone an earnings report so close to its scheduled release, and the move threatens to escalate concerns about recent setbacks that the company has suffered. In May, Ubisoft said it would need more time to develop some of its biggest titles and forecast no revenue growth for the fiscal year. Last year, Ubisoft pushed back the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows to make improvements after a Star Wars franchise game received middling reviews.
>Ubisoft’s Chief Financial Officer Frederick Duguet had been due to host a media briefing call shortly before the market close in Paris on Thursday and ahead of the planned financial results later in the day. That call was postponed without explanation and then canceled.

Yes and no. As part of getting their asses saved by Tencent, Ubisoft created a subsidiary company and moved its valuable IPs out of Ubisoft and into there. (AC, Tom Clancy, whatever others they haven't killed yet). This effectively fucked over anyone who owns stock in Ubisoft itself, since the subsidiary is owned by Tencent and the Guillemots. Or something to that effect.

What seems to be happening now is either a prelude to a sale, or Ubi's finances for the last 6mo are so bad that reporting them would cause a panic sell off that would actually drive the stock price to $0 and blow up the company.

>allowed to stop all trading prior to releasing bad news
how is this allowed exactly? if companies can just hit the pause button before releasing news why don't they all do it?

ubisoft never should have had tens of thousands of employees anyways, it's not sustainable even while they're stealing tax payer money.

It's only allowed to stop market manipulation when enough people with money know what news is happening. It's usually done when the stock value is going to explode in either direction so Ubisoft likely got bought.

Lmao, Mihoyo doesn't even have 10k employees, barely half of Ubisoft, and they have 6+ games running and more on the way. A smaller company with less headcount and bloat, making billions in profit every year.

What the fuck is Ubi doing?

Trading pauses arent necessarily common, but aren’t that rare either. But they usually are not this long. As for why they don’t always do it? For one they have to ask the exchange to do it and historically the pause doesn’t really reduce the impact of bad news when they finally do unpause it. It’s just there so that the market can fully evaluate the impact of the news before trading occurs.

Apparently they didn't do well enough shilling for AssCreed Shadows. Should've used those millions to pay off more gaming journos.

A pajeet with $10 could've ran a better Xitter campaign with his AI bots.

A big reason why Ubisoft is so big is because governments around the world offer tax rebates and other benefits for opening a game dev studio in their country. Ubisoft absolutely abuses the shit out of this.
