Pretty much, the castle should have been bigger and just add the bosses there, think of it like some kind of Castlevania plus Dimitrescu after you.
Kinda like Haunting ground where you faced different bosses. I feel like they really got the concept wrong

It is interesting that this game is the way it is because they were worried everybody would hate 7 before it came out. Now they know people want pure survival horror so I have high hopes for 9. I still like Village quite a bit tho but 7 was much more to my taste

This is my concern for requiem, should be focused on 1-2 main locations and not forgettable segments that you pass through once. Village feels way spread out and the bosses are kinda one and done. Looked like the vampires chicks were going to be like the baker family in progression but they're basically gone by the time the game starts.
Castle just felt really small somehow but it's probably cause you only go through a lot of its areas once. It's like they were too cautious of making another Mr X so alcina is basically a pushover when she shows up.

Is the DLC for Village any good? I actually never played it even though I bought it last year. I really should get around to it. Maybe when I finish of Ninja Gaiden 4 I'll start it up.

That's a good thing. Every boss has their tragic backstory and felt humanised, not just some mindless created monster. Every Boss was a victim in their own way , their own prisoner of circumstance like the protagonist is. That's what makes it Kino.

area wise nothing new. Recycled maps with some mustard jelly sprayed over them. one main zombie type that is the standard fodder and no return of the four lords

It is worth it on a sale if you liked the base game. It heavily reuses assets and models and there is a very basic scattering of entirely new areas. The areas and the story is unimpressive. If you were ambivalent about the base game, don't get it

Lady D is very fun in mercs, haven't tried much else yet so can't say why the reviews are mixed. Third person ethan is definitely a step down in quality from say RE2/RE3.

Iredeemable trash walking sim. Despite being able to skip cutscenes unlike the trashheap that is 7 the opening still takes way too fucking long and has way too much unskippable scripted shit in it. Audio design is atrocious, pretty much ever since they started using REengine. The guns sound like plastic toys. Enemies don't react to getting shot 90% of the time and only a single enemy type can get headshots, which of course also sound like trash. There are literally zero gameplay mechanics. Basically the "gameplay" is shooting bulletsponge enemies that don't react to getting shot with weapons that sound like shit until they fall down. The game is way too short. The castle would have been fine but it's over before you know it and has yet again a trash stalker enemy that doesn't even work correctly. House beneviento is a shitty scripted unskippable walking section perfect for replays. Don't even know what they were thinking with the Moreau section. The island is the only decent part.
Despite a large arsenal of weapons every new weapon you find is an immediate upgrade over the previous one making said previous one fucking useless if you happen to like that one. Mercenaires, plural, has only a single character and it's the absolute worst iteration of the mode. Don't care about some universally agreed upon trash DLC.
Basically it tries to be 4 but fails at literally every single thing that made 4 great.

The first half of the game is incredible. The doll house is just as spooky as anything in the series.
Didn’t much care for the lake monster.

Don't forget how the werewolves were supposed to ambush and siege you every time you passed through the village on your way to the other lord areas but the focus group Japs said it was 'too intense' and 'too scary' so they took out 90% of that.

Revelations are budget games that reuse assets and animations. The only experimentation on them was in 2 with stealth kills and item crafting, and even that wasnt completely original in the franchise.

The game has more than enough action as is IMO. Upon beating it I certainly wasn't left wishing I could've shot more werewolves
