Yeah it's great fun, I have 400 hours in it but I'm kinda burned out on it now because I can get a win fairly easily if I get a good wand, but most of the side content is just way too obscure to do without a guide which kinda ruins the fun if you're just following a wiki. Depends on what you're looking for. My last spell I needed was the fucking Wuplicate spell. Being a utility spell, it can't spawn on any wands, which I only found out after shitting out wands with my wand generating wand for about half an hour. Turns out the best way to find them is in utility boxes in the Frozen Vault and The Meat so I sped through world after world hitting those zones up (along with the Eye Room and Egg boss until my save filesize got so bloated that I got this screen for a few seconds every engine reload, so I'd go into the next NG+ to start my search anew. I made it to NG+++++ before one of the boxes dropped the damn spell. Got lucky with my shifts too, since Pus and Ominous Liquid would practically one-shot me if I didn't change them into something benign.

This game wastes so much of your time and has absolutely zero way for the player to figure out certain absolutely necessary mechanics even with experimentation. Gotta love the 500th time going through the first two floors again. Gotta love waiting for a fire or acid cloud to part for a solid 5 minutes. Lots of fun. Gotta love not being able to see always cast effects on your wands in your inventory lol, just complete incompetence. Gotta love that 90% of players just have the wiki open the entire time and are basically doing homework before/during/after they play. It's a shame because a lot of the systems are fun or could be, but the game insists on presenting them in the least enjoyable fashion possible and then a legion of sunk cost fallacy boneheads just lap the piss up to max satiation. I'm sure you can say 'git gud', but I've beat the game multiple times and all I can say is it's incredibly disappointing how much bullshit a solid, playable, enjoyable core is wrapped up in.
