I just replayed the PS4 version a few months ago... it's not as good as I remembered.
desu, both games while having a strong story are still mechanically quite boring.

Each mission in both games is just ride your horse somewhere, shoot waves of 5+ enemies in the head in dead eye, drink a snake oil or whatever and do it again until the mission just sort of ends. It gets really boring.

Also, RDR2 has some of the dumbest plot holes I've ever seen in a video game, for example when Ross and Milton just walk into your camp and tell everyone to turn on Dutch. It was just too video gamey and stupid, if Milton and Ross weren't retards they would have just created a massive posse of local boys and lawmen and rode into dutch's camp and killed everyone that didn't surrender. It's just too fucking convenient that they wander in and just leave if Dutch is that much of a wanted man, why wouldn't he just kill Milton and Ross right then and there? They were able to leave camp unmolested, so it's not like they had anyone spying on the camp and they weren't followed to Shady Belle, so they could have just killed Milton and Ross, dumped their bodies into the river and probably not even had to worry about any consequences.

That makes about 18 years since their last good game. I don't disagree with you that those are good, but how relevant they are to the modern rockstar I don't know. The one good thing they have going for them is their standard for polish (which only applies to their main releases, gta online is a travesty run by the incompetant), and their game engine.

All besides the point anyways, I don't think they make bad games, there are definitely things to ramark on particular to rockstar, I just think they get away with game industry ruining practices that other companies get crucified for.

I already can run both Switch emulated version and PC version through GameHub or Winlator on my 5 years old Snapdragon 865 anon. You have no idea what average phone can run nowadays its insane. Current flagships run GoW Ragnarok in 1080P/60fps in high settings through fucking translation layers that add a lot of overhead so imagine native ports.
