Microsoft is kill and Valve is taking it's place. Valve and Nintendo are the only hardware companies pushing the industry forward while also carving their own niche. They are the only ones innovating both on software and hardware.

What Sony even do? Profits from skinnerbox multiplayer games? They are last remains of a bygone era and should left behind. I'm looking forward for the battles of Nintendo x Valve.

What is the point if it can already runs everything Sony put on Steam? +the library of over 30 years of gaming on the steam store alone, not even counting emulation and third parties storefronts.

I dunno, maybe the fact it’ll play almost anything much better than the Steam box. This isn’t going to pull anyone away with digital libraries, I can live without the sheer number of indies pc gets and the ones I want usually come to console anyways like Last Epoch and Enshrouded. Phil wasn’t bullshitting with the “We lost the worst console generation to lose” as that was the start of digital libraries carrying forward in any meaningful way for consoles.

There's a likelihood that the new Steam Machine generally delivers worse or less consistent performance than PS5 in the same games, while costing more than it.

Taking steps in the direction of making PC gaming easier to get into and more console-like =/= matching and displacing the most popular and dominant console in those regards

It has a couple good games, but nothing that constitutes a system-seller yet. And the only reason it even has what it has now is thanks to Nintendo artificially holding shit back from the Switch 1 era (so don't expect this rapid-fire schedule of exclusives to hold up for long). Only buy in now if you're a faithful die-hard who's immediately confident in the system's longterm trajectory, or want better odds of hackable hardware when the time comes. or if you're a retarded zoomer who really wants to play Switch 1 games at higher resolutions/framerates but screams yourself blue in the face and throws a temper tantrum whenever anyone mentions the naughty "E" word
