Is this good?

I preferred vermintide 2 having played 600 hours of each game.
I find that the uniqueness of the dynamics surrounding kruber/sienna/elf whore/gimli/saltz to be much more endearing than the original content donut steel characters from Darktide, and that's enough to overcome any real differences in gameplay between the two games.

very repetitive I find it hard to believe that people would play this for so long

Its probably one of the better Warhammer games out there, if you invest the time to making a good build and clearing Havoc you can find a pretty okay challenge. Otherwise just wait for a sale and max whatever respective classes/guns you like. I will say its got a pretty great slop shop on it, they know what autistic smelly warhammer fans would want to buy.

I never really thought about it but yeah the enemies in darktide do really suck.
I do think the game is OK, though I usually can only do a couple runs before I feel like doing something else.

The slop shop is fucking terrible for anyone that isn't an absolute massive whale. At least it makes it easy to ignore it.

It has some of the best first person combat in any game. Pretty addictive making a build and trying out all the different weapons and classes.
Content releases at a glacial pace but it has a good amount of content now

This

but also the worst offender is how MELEE FOCUSED the game is. I want to use fucking guns, man, it's a 40k game, but instead I'm just knocking crash test dummies around with my mace.
It made sense for Vermintide but here it's just shit.

Just make a gun focused build? You can do it with Veteran, Ogryn, and Zealot.

They feel different enough to me. They have sewers, City streets, a big carnival, snowy areas now, big archives and fortress/castle areas, sandy areas, and more.

This anon as right, once I went past Havoc 20 your gun becomes an item to snipe an elite or cc something and then you go back top dodge spamming and swinging it is pretty gay.

I wish they would add more Mortis maps. They can be a lot smaller and more abstract than the "real" maps, it would let the level designers flex their muscles

It's fun but you have to enjoy the core gameplay enough that you're fine doing the same maps over and over again, only with different characters/loadouts/modifiers to change things up

I put 650 hours into it before putting it down (without spending a penny at the slop shop) but I might pick it up depending on what the new class looks like

You absolutely cannot on Ogryn. You're trolling your team by playing gunlugger. Rumbler, sure, but you want to be in melee to proc BLO.

I think it fits pretty well with 40K having a ton of different characters running around. It makes it so I have to see less black characters too, imagine if the default psyker was black.
There is an appeal to having random people teaming up for missions, but where they really failed was with the main characters managing your teams. About the only likable characters are Morrow and the male Admech.

Imagine Left 4 Dead 1 or 2, but with a 40K rebrand of everything. It's about that deep gameplay wise, there's more enemy variety and definitely a lot more weapons and playstyles than Left 4 Dead, but it tacks on a lot of "live service" gear grinding as its main means of progression. That stuff works on zoomers but it just makes me feel like not bothering, past a certain point.

But I'd say I've gotten maybe 90 hours out of it, over the last few years, it's not terrible just a little to mindless for my tastes. Frantic, at the higher difficulties, but still very much just "hold M1 in the direction the enemies are streaming from" just with more positioning and footwork required to not die.

I give it a 7/10.
Anonymous No.725778991 [Report]
Yeah, sure.
Anonymous No.725779134 [Report]
>>725775713 (OP)
It has its drawbacks.
>only truly becomes fun once you reach the higher difficulties, before that it's just whatever
>fairly repetitive maps
>shitty cosmetics system, some of them are gacha tier paid currency slop
In terms of first person combat however, I firmly believe this is the best game out there right now. Nothing compares. Well actually Vermintide 2 does but it's better in some other aspects, the pure combat is better in Darktide.

Darktide has far deeper gameplay than L4D. The melee weapons dance laps around the L4D melee weapons with the 4 different attack types, attack angles, the movesets of each weapon and mark being different, the build variety, the special moves of each type of weapon varying, and even more

>>725778949
>it tacks on a lot of "live service" gear grinding as its main means of progression
They removed gear grinding with their new crafting system and the fact you can buy every weapon and just level them up yourself now with the desired stat distribution. It's all about messing around with builds to clear the higher difficulties now, similar to something like Monster Hunter in the structure now

>>725779173
I like directional attack movesets in games with complex melee interactions, like M&B (at least multiplayer) or KCD, where your opponent also gets those same moves. But in a horde clearing game like this it quickly just devolves into spamming whatever your most efficient attack is over and over again for any given engagement to clear through the 95% of enemies that are chaff. It just doesn't add that much to the game IMO, sorry, different strokes. 7/10 is a decent score though, it's okay.

Better variety in classes.
Better variety in weapons.
Better variety in maps.
You can pick any map you want at any time instead of relying on a rotation.
Better writing and banter.
Better setting.
A fun roguelike mode that somehow was never directly ported to Darktide.
Better setting.
A versus mode if you’re into that shit.

Warhammer is like window shopping
It looks so cool but, there no door to enter or good enough products to buy.

VT2 was cool but, they dont fix shit and added Beast Men for some reason.

I heard Dwarf space miners was good but, its not my style.
