Something the comic was very clear on was that Eli was somewhat naive and an idealist, even when he wanted to pick a fight with Astral to settle their differences, he refused to attack him when he believed it wouldn't be fair, and because he didn't want to injure him - just prove a point. Robert's response was to blind him, sucker punch him, and then beat him until his eyeball fell out, then get on top of him and keep beating on him until Chase tore him off. When questioned on this, Astral's response was quite plainly and explicitly that he intended to kill Eli then and there. That was Mecha Man, a hero's hero.
His experiences of being betrayed over and over and over again by Robert the 2nd were all catalyzed when he was beaten and disfigured, and it changed how he viewed the world and what should be done to better it, but not fundamentally what he thought about heroes and heroism.

There has to be some degree of truth to Visi being a mole for Shroud because otherwise his henchmen wouldn't have her mask ready to give to her when the reveal happens. It's not a bluff. That said, (1) why did the Red Ring members try to grab Visi at the bar, and (2) why did Shroud try to kill Visi in the warehouse?

The only thing I can think makes sense is if she was initially a mole, then felt guilty about it after meeting Robert and flipped. The bar fight starts because the Red Ring knows she's flipped, and then next episode Shroud has no reservations about killing her when she grabs the pulse. Then, offscreen, she either went to Shroud and pleaded for her safety and for some reason he believed her, or Shroud re-offered her the position. But Shroud would certainly be suspicious that someone he just tried to kill and who already turned against him once would betray him again later, and Visi wears her heart on her sleeve so I'm not convinced she's a good enough liar to pull that off, especially against someone who can predict nearly everything.

By getting caught and conveniently handing over the pulse, she could honestly tell Shroud she was captured and they took it from her. In the first two episodes, there are some different scenes based on if she's a hero or villain, and she joins or stays on the team in different conditions. By episode 3, it no longer matters and only your decisions of the second season have any affect.
