When I imagined a potential AC in Japan, none of my reverie included playing a nigger. Yasuke is a character I’ve liked across many games, but making him the protagonist of the game where the protagonist is usually representative of the period is fucking stupid and gay.

It's not a great game but it's fine for what it is (which is exactly what you expect. this nu-ass creed pseudo RPG but in Japan). I barely played as Yasuke because why would I? But when I had to he was still pretty fun. He's not really invasive to the story and barely even really matters to it other than the major villain behind the scenes being his former massa.

What does kinda chap my ass is people saying Yotei (or even Tsushima) are better games. This has a more accurate Japan, literally the same story as Yotei done better, the girl is cuter, and the combat is more fun. The combat is the same as Yotei's except you can use any weapon in your kit to great success while Yotei forces you to use whatever counters the enemy. Far cooler armors too.

Shadows real struggle is it has too much content which ultimately becomes repetitive. Like you can only raid a fort/castle so many times before it becomes tiresome.

No. The Assassin's Creed universe is established to be set up exactly like what we known in our modern times. Anything you can do as a civvy is also something someone in the AC universe can do. The knowledge they have of history is identical, and if they were to open up a random textbook or a page on the internet it would be something you yourself could find in real life.

The only thing AC adds into it is that it has a secret cabal of Assassins and Templars that are constantly at odds who were typically, but not always, people from history. There is also the original race of Earthlings called the Isu that created humanity and had a hyper advanced civilization prior to humanity ever existing that was destroyed after a solar flare hit the Earth. The Templars also run the world and essentially have the equivalent of Google, Apple, and Microsoft as one single company they own across the globe.

The entire premise of AC is that we don't know the exact truth of history which is why the Assassin/Hidden One/Templar/Order of the Ancients stuff went under the radar and why we never noticed people using Pieces of Eden to do certain things. We don't know what is being kept from us by the Assassins and Templars which is why people use the Animus for the Templars/Assassins to find out the truth or Pieces of Eden to try and wrest power from the other side.

Their technology is borderline nonexistent, proof about them is the same, but the technology they have that does survive leads to major events in history taking place when world leaders get access to them. See what I stated above, the AC history is 1:1 our history just with some liberties taken in the ways some events happened, but not in egregious ways like Yasuke actually doing the stuff he does in Shadows. It's more like how deaths played out or some oddities they did in their lives.

Because the Yasuke presented in Shadows would have been known for all the things he did by basically everyone to this day including people in the west just for how much he singlehandedly shaped Japan's trajectory as a whole. That's the first issue.

In Shadows he's not treated as Nobunaga's slave, he's Nobunaga's trusted friend and companion. He literally goes from the discussion with Nobunaga at the start of the game to being sent off to live at the castle and train under Nobutsuna for months so he can learn how to be a trained warrior and with Nene to learn about Japanese customs. Yes there was alot more negativity surrounding the game than it deserved, everyone wanted to hate it and it was nitpicked to hell but Ubisoft brought this on themselves, by making the MC of the long awaited Asscreed Japan game a nigger and doubling down on it, it rubbed alot of people the wrong way, even normies instinctively felt there was something nefarious going on here. The games dropped all pretense of historical accuracy when they had Ezio board a tank DaVinci made to have a tank battle with tanks the Templar made in the middle of a city. The first game got away with its story because the non-historical things fit into a, "What if? There are things we don't know and this fits in the gaps of historical knowledge," but where things could not fit into the gaps, like the hand crossbow from the cinematic, they made sure to leave it out.

Each entry got more and more egregious. But Shadows was by far the worst managing to not only shit on accuracy and authenticity, but also managing to do it in a way that was directly insulting to the very culture and history they were supposedly depicting.
