AI need colossal amounts of stolen art to work, were talking hundreds of millions. Using AI to generate assets isn't a problem in itself.
The problem is that human made assets were inherently deliberate, there was a reason to look into them and try to think on what they mean.
Unless the guy generating the images is autistic about what they want out of the AI, the image could be generic and meaningless.
That said, I'm not going to pretend every blade of grass in a game is part of the artistic vision, using AI isn't necessarily bad.
