Just a random criticism but the PS4 release is really terrible. I started only playing 1v1 because 2v2 lagged the game too much. If the PPG are in a match it was borderline unplayable. The shop tab would crash the game all the time and during season 4 there was a period where it was almost completely broken.
I know the PS4 is really dated at this point but they released this version. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to be functional.

Well, we had a pretty awful run, huh fellas? This game probably could have recovered from its disastrous launch, but there was nobody at PFG that was smart enough to make that happen. I saw this game running on borrowed time as soon as last June. Hopefully this game becomes a textbook lesson on how not to maintain your live service game, though I doubt anyone will learn anything from its failure.
I'll admit this general was funny as fuck when we were making fun of Tony and shit like Evil Gizmo though, and its slowness was comfy.

The platform fighter genre just demands way too much from players, not just in terms of mindset or game knowledge, but physically too. On some level, it's genuinely impressive just how fucking atrocious the single player "content" in this game was. Rifts were some of the most amateur, hacky bullshit I've ever played, and I've played quite a bit of licensed shovelware in my time. Everything looked like it was some pajeet's first UE5 project (it probably was) and it didn't even fucking work properly a third of the time. No thought given to the platforming segments, nothing designed with the minigames actually being fun in mind, half the shit was either missing effects or just didn't have them at all, laughably bad dialogue most likely written by ChatGPT, and the general presentation just looked like cheap, half-baked shit that was shat out in less than a week. Like it literally looked like alpha proof of concept shit. Absolutely fucking unreal that all this shit made it into a "live" game and anyone thought it was presentable in any way beyond testing and development.

i think making characters unlockable would've worked just fine if they weren't so hellbent on squeezing every last penny out of people, especially new players. Like this is free game 101, new players need to be coddled, not shown the door. I feel like they unironically thought their average player was exclusively gonna be whales ready to spend thousands of dollars on the game each per month, and kept thinking that to the bitter end. It was particularly egregious with how every little update introduced some bullshit grinding than then would be reeled in slightly a week or two later, only for another update to introduce a new bullshit grind to continue this cycle.
