All things important to S2 gameplay, but its all just bro science. I didn't know you could save the scientist stalkers *after* being possessed by the controller. I was left with one guy and this makes the measurement defense mission way longer, spawning more enemies.

Grenades are easily the most underrated weapon in S2. IDK how often you use them, but its not enough. Saw a lot of stuff online in dumb tips and tricks shit about how you SHOULDNT use grenades because it damages enemy equipment which means it sells for less. Well, I say... killing 6 dude with 1 grenade as to avoid the firefight, and the repairs the firefight would necessitate, is just good business. I never used them in the STALKER Classic, but the guns were also great in those. A great gun in 2 is one that doesnt feel like a constant uphill battle to use or maintain, so swapping to a grenades is a lot more worth it than in the originals. Even better for mutants, especially when those cunts try to hide behind some corner.

I also dont think a throwback would be good for the game. The enemies grenades are also to encourage a more tactical approach to gameplay. After 3-5 seconds, you should be breaking contact, retreating backwards to break LoS, then moving around to flank from a differwnt position, get 1 or 2 more kills, then repeat. Enemies throw a lot of grenades, but Im never around when they go off. If AI grenades are a problem, youre not changing cover ofter enough and probably getting shot in the face a lot.

These fags were getting 57 fps on epic settings no framegen, no DLSS. And that was on an unpatched 1.0 version. If you turn down settings to high/med, you should be getting silky smooth 60+ fps absolutely everywhere.
You need to go through serious troubleshooting. Maybe something wrong with your driver version, maybe you have some shit disabled in bios.
Just got back to a trader after the expedition to clear sky base in the swamps. Made 66,182, with 12,462 in repairs for a profit of 53,720 coupons. Easy money. My Shah's Mate chambered in .45 put in a lot of work against all those mutants. GP37 handled to zombies and the 203 took care of the controller ezpz. Got every stash I had marked while I was down ther, but didnt do too much exploring. Good shit.

>hurr durr muh clusterfuckI stand by that ranking. The Kharod has endgame stats and fair endgame repair pricing with no real downsides other than aesthetic, so I think it deserves its top slot. The GP37 needs about 1-2 extra shots per head compaired to the Kharod, but its such a repair efficient weapon you can afford to send 10 extra rounds over the Kharod. Its cheap, and still very effective. You can run it at full auto for CBQ and not even care. The Decider when swapped to 5.56 is basically the same as the GP37, but more geared towards close-quaters. It has slightly worse range, but slightly better handling and rof. It deserves its lower rank due to higher repair costs and no underbarrel option.
I can go into the sub-CF ranking if you want but the 416 being dogshit pretty much sums it up. The Lullaby, after 5.56 swap, just become a retardely expense bullpup 416 so it deserves its shame spot.
The CF earns its spot because it is still a somewhat effective weapon for short outings if you can afford it, unlike the ones beneath it. The problem with the CF is that it has the durability of a sniper, and the repair costs of a unique weapon, with both an integrated supressor and scope(that add to its repair costs, unlike detatchables on basic weapons). Its reduced durability means it cant compete with assault rifle that are actually effective at being an AR in the field. It also would be way below the M1 in the sniper category because it is worse per-shot, and way more expensive. It is servicable, but theres so many better options that are just as easy to get for any role the CF could perform.

Is there a lighting option or some shit for s2 that removes that dumb inside/outside effect a supposed to mimic your eyes adjusting or something? I makes it impossible to see anything if youre standing near a doorway, and insides always look pitch black, and outsides always like staring into the sun. It makes it impossible to see whos shooting at you if theyre inside a building and youre not, or vice versa. I literally dont know what to do other than go full quake and run out diagnally trying to no-scope everyone before they kill me because I had to leave the nice cover provided by the building to see whos shooting me and you only get 5sec before they kill you for breaking cover. I mean, woodland fights are already bull shit because youre fighting a bunch of aimbots with wallhax, but this lighting bullshit between inside/outside is terrible. At least in the woods you can just run backwards and flank, but when your only exit from a vuilding is the one 5 guys you cant see are watching, you kinda gotta go full pro gamer and no-scope headshot while bunny hopping and drop shotting, wall running, and rocket jumping to get out of there alive. Its not a fun way to play a game thats not meant to be played like that.

Completed VoA. What a fucking mod. Initial thoughts:

Buildo desolation atmosphere is amazing. No quest markers, gotta pay attention to figure things out, which works well enough. The economy is decent, never had more than 7k. The only reliable money comes from selling artifacts or suits. The story and worldbuilding are solid, VoA rewrite does much of the heavy lifting, more mystic cryptic shit than in SoC. Lots of setup pays off later. Also has some fucked up elements like the missing children plot. You learn more about the worldbuilding and the outside world (Slavic Union, which labs did what, origins of Duty/Freedom/Monolith etc.), and get bits of info through PDAs and docs. Almost everything gets explained by the end. All of it is coherent, no extreme vasyanism. Messer feels less like a blank slate than Marked One and has lots of sarcastic/threatening dialogue. Wishgranter ending bait and switch was cool. C-Con's motivation makes much more sense (they're literally the specter of communism), tying everything together narratively. The final boss fight was actually terrifying.

Feels like a solid stable base without much meat, which is expected since it's built on an older OLR version. A-Life is dead as fuck. Levels feel excessively empty, little reason to explore off the main path. No crates or stashes, 1-2 unique loot spots per level. Very few side quests, though those that exist are well written. Some mutants are unreasonably annoying. Cars are neat and necessary due to level size, but trivialize travel too much.
Decent OLR-lite without excessive buildo autism. The story is the strong suit. Worth a playthrough to experience "polished" buildo stalker, at least until 3.0 unfucks itself. Enjoyed it very much.

Having duty members in their ranks would fill that role.
Some of this is probably in the game, and I think it's mentioned that Ward absorbed some duty guys, but any connections are pretty light.

An emission hit in the middle of the night and I had to take shelter near a Merc camp. I think they were transporting bloodsuckers somewhere but I didn't have much time to look around. Majority of the crew had no problem with me being there but these two assholes recognized me and wanted to start something. I could hear them searching around the camp for me with their guns out while I was still trying to get my bearings.
I had to knock one of them out. There was a stash in here I wasn't planning on grabbing but these guys are going to be pissed at me once the find the body anyway,so I just looted it before slipping out. It was mostly junk in there anyway.

Use shotguns for mutants and a pistol for random bandits. Theres an ungodly amount of fuckshot and pistol ammo scattered around the environment. You should be fine if youre always unloading all guns you come across and are exploring. I think sniper and 45 are the only ammos I ever have to buy. 45s burn through a lot and theres not as much laying around.

they were aware of shit shit in cs, they introduced 2 hit death parameters in CoP to give you a bit of a fighting chance without being too cheesy.
best thing you can do is the obvious, try to use cover when available, upgrade your weapons asap, their accuracy will become tolerable. take headshots if possible. and shotguns for mutants seem to do more damage.

Upgrading gear costs hundreds of thousands and doing it also increases your repair bill proportionately. I used a trainer and was giving myself absurd amounts of cash to upgrade every weapon I found.

Just use your ammo sparingly, use the caliber you're likely to loot on bodies or in stashes, hunt for artefacts and sell them to cover repair costs.

Grab the long shotgun though. You can use slugs in it for guys too far to hit with buckshot and youll have way more ammo than enemies to shoot with it. As far as not dying goes, what helped me was stopping trying to pie corners. Cozy up to the edge of the cover's corner, aim, lean, shoot, unlean, reload, repeat. If you try to ajust yourself by strafing at all youll get a horrible gun sway, which is the last thing you want right as youre exposing yourself to the enemy and trying to accurately shoot them before they shoot you. The makarov is really only good if you get a bunch of guys on a bridge and can just start plinking the squad's head-height arean and get 3 or kills before they can react. The long shotgun is the bee's knees though

Once you empty their health pool, there is a chance they'll start doing a few seconds long "death animation", during which they don't react to damage, but not because they're invulnerable, but because they're already dead, you're just wasting ammo on a corpse. As for the stagger, they still take damage in that state and it's a viable strategy to send an enemy into a stagger animation and finish him off with a headshot.

I liked Spark at first. I like their schizoid theories about the light/dark zone they believed in. That vision Faust showed you intitially sold me on the idea that there is an 'alternative' side to the zone. Yet, at the same time, talking to Strelok also reveals to you that what Spark/Faust show you isn't all it's cracked up to be. Throughout the game there was enough ambiguity that I was at least willing to hear them out.
But then the actual Spark ending ruins all that by showing that everyone turned into a zombie. It's objectively a bad ending lmao so all the sympathy I had for their movement completely evaporated. I guess that was the point? They wanted to have at least one bad ending. But I really wish they would've kept it more ambiguous desu. It's just straight up a false Wish Granter ending.

Higher tier stalkers are actual threats, 1 sided gimping the player isn't bad considering you can just reload a save and you also have a functioning brain and eyeballs that AI doesn't have. I like the slow burn of GAMMA, where you really feel like you are building up a character through various experiences, rather than just popping onto the game to slaughter 100 dumb as bricks NPCs and then turn it off after 20 minutes of boredom like CoC/IWP.
