In Hyperdimension Neptunia G -- Blanc -- I'm entirely at RNG's mercy. Blanc is very resistant to physical damage however magic damage can end her very quickly and enemies tend to run away from your effective range to cast magic attacks. Whether you lose ~400 HP per attack or not is a dice roll, even with +MEN -DEF/+Fire Res. discs. I had to buy lots of healing items and abuse them much more than I did in Noire and Neptune's respective routes.
It's worth it, though. Not only because I want to complete the game but because how oddly relatable she becomes the more screen time and cohabitants to interact with she gets.

I confess I didn't have to deal with this since I had the DLC characters. Still, I didn't know it was THAT bad.

This was actually new to VII. In previous games she was equally durable on both the physical and magical side. VII shifted a lot of characters' stat distributions and Blanc was made from a general tank to a physical powerhouse; they gave her the second best STR in the game (only behind B-Sha) at the expense of gutting her INT and MEN.

It's been a while since I played VII, but I remember not liking how much of her part in the Gold Third arc was just running around babysitting Rom and Ram. I did however like her relationship with C-Sha.

Or in this case, poor programming. The Switch to Switch 2 transfer is not 1:1 as there is some translation layer when the Switch 2 is running Switch 1 games. It's why they said nearly every game will work. Tokyo Clanpool was originally for the Vita and was probably badly ported in the first place in its conversion to the Switch.

Because the consoles are all locked-down to prevent anything without license from working on them and Valve/Steam has cornered the PC market. They'd have to literally draw up legislation to strong-arm these platforms to not censor. IF/CH has not been making their own engine since at least 2010. They always used whatever licensed engine they thought made sense. I can't tell you why Orochi engine is unpopular. If it was a good package for an agreeable prince you think it would've been moreso. There might be countless reasons for engine consolidation, but as tech advances creating a modern game engine that covers multiple use cases becomes increasingly more work than it used to be.
Documentation is also a problem. Orochi engine probably had documentation in Japanese. Anything from a non-English speaking country just has an inherent disadvantage here. The developer writing the documentation needs to be a good writer, in English.
Next there is the third-party asset economy which is used from "AAAA" games down to solo devs. This data is all formatted for one of the two popular engines, easiest to use in them. There are convenient stores well-integrated to the engine. Third-party libraries for physics, AI, and whatnot are available for these engines.
The more popular these engines become, the more their advantages seem to increase and they are bringing in more and more money to increase their features even more.
I can hope for Godot to become the new companion Blender to as it gradually improves. It is a worthy investment goal even for large game companies if it means no more paying rent to Unreal and Unity.
Having a few popular engines is not as bad as a lot of non-programmers seem to think it is. There is a lack of understanding just how programmable and modifiable they are. However, there is still a problem that there are now easy "default settings" for developers to start from and not deviate.
Especially when it comes to turn-based RPGs, there is not much to worry about. Frankly nothing about the engines is directly holding these games back. The game logic can run on a PS1, the graphics are decent enough on PS4. Hopefully a new engine is more economical to work with and that does help

I love Ultra Blanc just like any other Blanc, although my initial impression was that she became a bit too soft after Chapter 3. My main problem with Ultra Noire is how the narrative is biased in favor of her. She's the most arrogant goddess by far (exempting Rei), but she's never called on it at all, even when she's literally contemplating throwing her own friends under the bus. The very next scene she then calls Blanc arrogant and you're supposed to take it as fact despite the fact that Blanc only acted the way almost anyone in her position would have when faced with what was basically an existential threat to her and her nation, and even then she did not want to escalate the situation (see Bandicrash) and only attacked when N**re literally invaded her castle because she fell for the flimsiest and most transparent false flag ever by fucking pre-rebuild Copypaste of all people. But you're supposed to believe Blanc, and only Blanc NEEDED to be humiliated and humbled here or somehow she would have become Rei despite having a completely different personality and mindset. ONLY her, too, and no one else. Meanwhile, Noire never experiences any major setbacks during the whole story, everyone else has to be helped by her, and her designated Seven Sages villain even simps for her (and that is not a coincidence because they repeated it with K-Sha the very next game). Outside of the typical loner gags and being a landing pad, Noire and Lastation is treated as beyond criticism. Every other nation and their rulers gets some narrative criticism and character arcs they have to overcome, but not Whoire, she's treated as perfect from the start. She never develops at all; outside of becoming a goddess, she is more or less exactly the same at the end of the story as she was at the start. THAT and hating Chapter 3 in general are my biggest issues with Victory's story.

The last Nep game I played was HDN, and even there I found Noire my least favorite. PS was playing ball with all sorts of games as that time. Plus CH don't really have a say on Sony's behavior, so I don't think it's fair to criticize Noire as a character in a story based on factors external to the people writing the stories, specially when the mainline games were written when censorship was less of an issue and I don't think Noire's character has changed that much between, say, V and SvS.
That said I do like fanart that relates whatever is going on in real game industry with the neps. It's always fun to see.

Everything that has to do with personified piracy in this game is actively trying to kill off the only thing (game consoles/companies) they steal from to make profit. Warechu and CFW Brave are the only pirate antagonists with sane motivations, even though the former often appears as an accomplice for Arfoire who literally wishes for the whole Gamindistri to be destroyed, including herself. The obahan is a suicidal force of nature whose sole existence is to oppose the Neps. The mouse wants to profit more than anything else (with one exCeption). He even reforms towards the end of VII to sell licensed games, which pays homage to how pirate TL circles gradually changed when competing with much official publishers' TL teams that came in numbers and with better resources; to stay afloat, they had to turn to legal life of selling genuine jewel boxes). Brave is the poor man's Senator Armstrong. He has strong convictions and wants to achieve a noble goal that CPUs themselves pursue, but do so by means that oppose them. Unless the players have a strong opinion against piracy, this might be the only "good" villain in the series whose motivation might resonate with them. All the non-pirate villains are literally fucked in the head or are influenced to act in an evil way by the likes of Kuromeme. That being said, this conflict of how piracy is depicted in Neptune series shouldn't discourage anyone from liking the series. I just find the occasional homages to evolution of piracy in real world and parallels with the other games somewhat interesting. And please forgive me for fumbling the post three times in a row lmao
