I've put that story on a hold but to put my thoughts onto the whole thing so far, I thought it was interesting. At first it felt like it was a creepy pre-mandela type shit with the evil versions of characters and other mutated creatures coming to kill shit, but I'm pleased enough. It felt like there were actual stakes even with the simple storytelling, but I just find myself somewhat lost since I'm not well versed with 2hu so I learned something during that whole series from the videos I've seen. There was this one character named Bacca and that grotesque dragon gave Marisa a rough time that I thought was entertaining besides the malformed Cirno. It's serviceable, and some music choices were genuinely kino.

Idea: a Touhou creepypasta centered around Rumia that would be phrased as an urban legend children from the human village would often hear. The youkai of dusk isn't that active in broad daylight, but when the sun sets, she goes to hunt travelers who get lost in the dark of the night to feast on the darkness of their hearts. It is said that the fear of the dark children usually have comes from the youkai's stalking on every pitch-black corner; however, children are spared solely due to their minds still being pure and holding barely edible darkness to consume. Her childlike appearance would also work as a luring device for inattentive people to approach near her.
one of my favorite horror moments in 2hu is one of the manga chapters where it's revealed at on certain nights, Tanuki fall into some kind of frenzy and go buckwild with their trickery. Of course Touhou is much closer to fucking Ready Jet Go! then Berserk or anything so not much is done with this concept besides a few gags, but the way this panel describes it always stuck with me. They're clearly not smallfry since they can generate entire fake moons and disguise as other people later in the chapter, so what the hell is their limit? It's like the Paraphernalia Wagon from the Halloween Grinch sequel for me. If you were at the epicenter of their grubby paws, how fucking degenerate would they stoop?

Sometimes I wish that Dragon Ball had better creepypastas, because I think there's some room for potential to explore these type of possibilities. I mean more like inverse shit rather than the usual "le spooky lost footage/video game with hyperrealistic blood oooo". The idea isn't really new but it would be interesting to see the perspective of someone trying to survive or witnessing someone like Cell or Goku Black creating chaos or explore different bad endings. I don't think anybody brought up Dragon Ball: The Others but that one also share what Grotesque Land Story had with evil variants of existing characters causing chaos against Goku and the others. There's some storytelling about the false beings too, and I like how it can vary since Goku's alternates are hostile while Broly's are docile. It even gave Piccolo more importance to me.

So while I was watching DBTO, I've seen that there was a Deadite that merged with Piccolo fighting against Big Bob (That's the name of the Deadite that resembles Ultimate Gohan that attacked Yamcha) and I've seen that the villainous ones resemble the heroes while Broly's variants are more docile as stated before. i am of the opinion that 2hu and Dragon Ball have done some good here for /exeg/.
both Grotesque Land Story and DB: The Others have generated some much needed genuine discussion.
in the case of DBTO, it's a refreshing change of pace for stuff that can be considered internet horror: while it's obvious that it takes inspiration from The Mandela Catalogue, it respects the Dragon Ball as its source material and does a really good job at not only incorporating an old concept (even if said concept eventually became slop), but also making it feel like a believable story within the DB universe, and having killer art to go with it. godspeed, David.
as for GLS, it's interesting to watch and the overall story is easy to follow, but it's a little difficult to get into as i'm not a 2hu fan. props to those who find it more interesting, though.
