343 outsourced CEA and H2A to Saber Interactive for FREE using the inferior PC ports as the base and Sean Cooper spent 5 years fixing the broken ports

343 outsourced terminals in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary to Sequence

343 outsourced Reach DLC maps (Defiant Map Pack/Anniversary Map Pack) and Halo 4 DLC maps to Max Hoberman and Certain Affinity (multiplayer, online, and UX design lead for Halo 2 and Halo 3)

Halo 4 campaign just feels half-baked. It has sections that feel empty, lacking content. Removed point scoring. As a result, the timer was also removed(used for speed runs). You can't view the campaign terminals ingame; you must go to waypoint. Forge Island gives us ten times less budget than Forge World. Removed Race, Territories, Stockpile, Headhunter, and Juggernaut. “Infinity” gametypes include instant respawn, perk packages and customized loadouts (COD). "Legendary" gametypes fixed this.

Halo 4 and part of Halo 5 are the only game 343i actually put together themselves with their in house studio, MCC and especially infinite has been nothing but wrangling contractors and contract studios. Infinite has something like 5 confirmed studios that worked on it. That is why their dev cycle takes so long and fucks shit up constantly(besides the technical debt). 343 is just an umbrella studio that directors other contract studios into making broken messes of games. Its why everything except Halo 4 is a broken retarded mess because Halo 4 was the only 343i title actually done in house and not through 20 corporate suit games of telephone and Zoom meetings

343 has an OG Xbox emulator for Series X and CE and H2 still aren't on it

The Halo 5 ghost has a texture resolution of 2048 x 2048 while the Halo: Reach ghost has a resolution of 1024 x 1024. 343 does not use detail textures like this. The only one I can remember was in Halo 4, where they had a detail normal map for scratches and cuts on the armors.

What Bungie managed to squeeze out of the 360 by optimizing for that 10MB of eDRAM is pretty mind blowing. They rewrote the entire renderer for Reach, were able to push much higher resolution textures for all objects, were able to have all objects cast light; particle collisions, and even had some basic ambient occlusion and anisotrophic filtering with a 2xMSAA pass managed entirely in the 10MB eDRAM buffer.

Bungie did some clever kind of layer stacking/ LOD streaming in Reach that makes everything look pin-sharp when you're up close

The problem in the Infinite screenshot is a lack of contrast and texture details. The dark parts of the Reach armour are much darker, and it's covered in little details like scratches and paint chips. It's also more 'glossy' whereas everything in Infinite looks very matte (this is again not due to raytracing, it's an artstyle choice).

If SPV1 was a reaction to halo 2. Then Spv2 was a reaction to halo 3. Since halo 3 never got an official pc port and was reveled to be a Xbox360 exclusive a lot of custom campaigns propped up during this time to “port” halo 3 to pc in a way. Presenting CMT as some “Prestigious” elite mapping team. Making people send fucking job application style emails to just get a chance at joining his team. This breed an atmosphere of smug hypocritical nepotism in the team and everybody had creative differences of what Spv2 “should be”. Some wanted to remake the halo 1 levels from scratch to fit the new sandbox and other wanted to just extend to levels is just an example of the endless creative differences people had. Eventually someone leaked all the assets that were made and the forums were being swarmed with poorly made shit maps made by Mexicans using the Spv2 assets. Making people think CMT made them. Remember that the true Spv2 was still in a beta stage essentially as things were heavily unbalanced and unfinished. Causing people to (rightfully) shit on the CMT for being hypocrites.

The team latter just fell apart and went their separate ways until some came back to make Spv3. Why I don’t know as as the Spv2 debacle crippled the entire halo ce modding community for a while.

See, this is the biggest issue with SPV3. A complete and total lack of common sense. In Halo, powerful Elites like these guys are usually used as 'bosses' that defend important areas in the level. And when I say 'important areas', I mean important from a story perspective, not from a level-design perspective. What reason would there be for a battalion of high-ranking Elites to defend a random corridor on the Pillar of Autumn? In the original game, this section is a grenade tutorial with a handful of Grunts and an Elite. Now it looks like the annual meeting of the Covenant Shipmaster society. The entire mod is riddled with issues like this, to the point where the original, organic design of the levels is buried under a mountain of crap. Not to mention the fact that everything looks ugly. An abysmal experience.

There's no sense of progression or scaling. It's just Masters throwing the entire sandbox at you in the first level.

And when you did have something to play through, it would be padded out, buggy, and dumbed down for some dumb gimmick or really horrible decisions made.

Like, short of actually playing the campaigns and getting basic functioning fights, every single step of the process was fundamentally misunderstood and fucked from the ground-up to the top. 343 wouldn't have been able to even operate an original IP for how little consistency and how much mismanagement they had, never mind Halo.
