That means flavour for each elector state and Middenland is arguably on par with Reikland and has had 0 efffort put into it.
Religious conflict within the Empire should be as big of a threat as any other.
Cultural differences, at least between North and South, East and West, Sigmar or Ulric should be present and a serious mechanic to juggle and deal with. Civil War should be a major mechanic and concern. Just rip the political update from Rome 2 and give it a lick of paint and skulls ffs.
However it should not stop there. There should be a heraldry update focused around the Empire that is extended to other factions (where appropriate) allowing musicians and heraldry within the rank and file.
We also need the knightly orders and they can be tied to region or gradually unlocked and so on.

In campaign, you just have to learn to balance your economy/armies and send enough forces to deal with the AI. Lower the diff to normal till you learn the game.

Also, I will just simplify enemy units into archetypes instead of trying to focus on if it's dual weapons, armored, etc
if you're not playing with battle realism mode you can issue orders with the game paused or slowed down as well, it can give you time to think and take things in
Also, consider if it's more worthwhile to attack from 2 angles or keep your army together, and also consider if the ai is doing the same or not
medieval 2 is 32 bit software, remastering it and remaking it as 64bit would allow the modding community to go crazy
star wars empire at war did this earlier this year and it was great, relic is also going to do the same for warhammer dawn of war 1 this year, so CA better do it too
