Played the beta. Don't really love it. Seems to be centered around a gimmick of having a dreadnaught carry you every 5th round. The resource gain is very static and the things you can spend it on are pretty low effort. It's probably not going to revive the game, especially if they just keep leaving matchmaking completely fucking broken for months at a time as they have been.

The pve element is nothing but dressing for the pvp, and the only coop is really flimsy and kinda avoidable. In some iterations the coop aspect is even encouraged to be avoided with xp sharing. The time share is heavily focused on playing against the enemy and your goal is in the middle of the enemey base. That is a pvp game. In juxtaposition, if you spend more than half of the match without even knowing where the enemy is and the main objective is pve element, then it is a pvp coop game.

I agree with your point that a single ship can completely derail your PvE fun time/grind because of how the game splits ship combat from PvE activities. What, like literally every meta level discussion that arises after just a couple of hours of testing and optimizing? You're only frontloading it by a couple hours or whatever time it would take some of the more dedicated autists to turbo grind themselves to 30 and immediately fire up havoc 40 to stress test whatever builds they theorycrafted. It's not like poxclick is so deep as to develop intricate metagames. Ogryn isn't exactly the thinking man's class, and part of what you're describing is directly fostered by sloptubers presenting clickbait builds that aren't actually good, followed by everyone blindly copying that without any experimentation. Yes to club, no to rumbler. I feel like it's overrated and a bit of a crutch, and also has too much overlap with what ogryn can already do with just melee. I think people use it because it's fun and easy, which is fine. If I'm not running single stubber I'd rather run grenade gauntlet, and either way, I need something to snipe faraway specials in a way that rumbler can't reliably do.

I've used the Mk.3b ever since a year and a half ago somehow showed me the slap stagger combo. It's never not been my primary melee weapon on the Ogryn. Sure, they nerfed it because Fatshark are faggots, but the pickaxe was just plain unfun and the shield is the worst melee weapon (in terms of combat design, not effectiveness) in the whole game.

I just think they're boring, that's all. Objectively strong, but I never felt good using them. It's the same thing with the shield, but even worse. One of the reasons I seethed over them nerfed the shovel was because it was immensely satisfying to bop a squad of Maulers/Crushers, but Fatshark had to be faggots. Unlike Shriek, Scrier's Gaze doesn't break smite upon activation. Couple that with Warp Unbound.
Being able to keep an empowered smite going for 20 seconds and up due to that fact seems like synergy to me.
There's even a chance to activate Scrier's Gaze again to just keep going past the 20 seconds depending on how many Elite kills I get during the Scrier's Gaze 10 second self explosion grace period thanks to Psykinetic's aura.
Voidblast is just for getting empowered psionics stacks when I have none and for bosses. Alternatively, I can spam fully warp nexus'd + rending shockwave Voidblasts against ogryn enemies to brittle them thanks to the same Scrier's Gaze Peril self explosion grace period.

It has potential but it currently has no matchmaking of any kind aside from inviting your friends on steam, and very minimal progression in the demo. The core of the game is fun, dismounting and returning to the ship both feel good, there are tasks to juggle as you try to speedrun each stage of a multistage mission before enemy reinforcements come to bleed your supplies. There's a bit of roguelite in that you find small arms and ship parts during the run, but as you progress you also get better kit to just start each run with. Hardest difficulty doesn't feel that hard yet, though it does start to press you for time and resources.

Game needs work and content but it'll probably be good.

I have over 100 hours from playing the first 2 playtests and now the open beta. Its genuinely the most fun I've had playing a game in years. The whole thing is a ship PvP sandbox and the ability to freely use the tools in unexpected ways is just so cool.
I had a game earlier where my buddy breached a ship to steal the artifact on an enemy ship and as soon as he got it to the door, I grabbed it with a tractor beam and pulled him straight onto our ship where we made a clean getaway.
I had another game where we had no ice left to heal our reactor so I started stripping things off of the ship as the engineer to salvage for more. We just barely managed to outlast the enemy ship in a firefight because I scrapped half the ship hardpoints just to keep us alive and in the fight.
I can't recommend it enough, especially right now while its free to try.

Build into the bottom left keystone. You don't strictly need the +10% crit in there, you can go for the aura if you like. Throwing knives let you cancel the swap animation if you find it unbearable.
Also make sure you aim it before firing.
Flamer isn't great outside of high intensity aurics, or havoc. It scales directly with enemy density. Pubtards even in aurics never shoot faraway snipers or gunners, so unless you're a knife god, it's kind of a detriment.

Maniacs is optional, I prefer being able to kill mutants fast, and it helps against naked ragers. Your other options are either flak to also help with scab trash, or unyielding for bulwarks and bosses if you're running FotF.
Another anon recommended wrath recently, and I agree, it's the comfiest blessing to have. It still lets you horde clear very effectively without being powered up.
Second blessing is up to you. I like cranial grounding the most. I don't think blessings are that important, but wrath does make a difference.

The actual important part is running at least some damage in your skill tree. Duellist and sustained assault help a ton.

For the force GS, dump warp resist since it basically doesn't matter. I haven't done any in-depth testing when it comes to perks, but flak was the most effective one from what little testing I did. You could put carapace on to try and hurt crushers, but you should ideally run a secondary that can deal with them.
Since it's probably just your horde clear, wrath is an obvious blessing to take. I'm not 100% sure on the second blessing, but out of the meme blessings, deflector is probably the only good one. Momentum is functional, but more of a crutch than actually good.

I haven't used the weapon enough to be fully confident, nor do I think it's a particularly amazing weapon. Melee usually wants to be your mobility and/or can opener, since most ranged options that you have don't kill crushers fast /enough/ unless you build specifically into that. Ground pound staff is good for stunlocking them, at least, and does serviceable damage.

It depends on a number of factors (class, skill tree, weapon move speed, mobility stat, what enemy is actually chasing you)
Usually "no", as in, you'll have to turn around sometimes to block and push a chasing horde away from you, but that's part of what you need the stamina for.
Knife power attacks make you fast as fuck, so if for example you're a fire staff psyker and have no reason to ever take out your melee except to block, you could just take a knife for zooming around.

Depends how close you are.
When enemies are close and perform their attack animation, they become magnetically attached to you. Running away at this point is almost impossible.

But when enemies are outside attack range, they are slow, and you can safely run away.
If you want to disengage enemies, just stagger them (push poxwalkers once to cancel their attack animations), turn around and run. They won't catch you as long as you sprint with stamina.

Maybe ragers can still catch you though, I haven't tested it.

the only blessing i don't recommend is Blazing Spirit (soulblaze on crit). It sounds fun but it's useless in practice.

By default I think it's 4 hits to kill crushers.
With warp siphon stacks it's 3 hits to kill crushers.
With a melee scriers gaze build it's 2 hits to kill crushers.

Which version of the relic blade does everyone prefer? Mk X seems like it kills crushers faster but I really like the looping single target combos on the mk II

I prefer the X. Its lights are horizontal horizontal stab, which is a very good pattern since the stab is huge single target damage and thus good for mixed hordes. Since it starts with 2 lights, you can cancel the combo by tapping block.
Heavies are vertical, but if you're already in a light combo, they become perfectly horizontal, which is amazing for horde clear.
The running attack is a powerful stab, as is the block push attack, both of which are great for single target.

Scoreboard autism aside, there are some reasons to delay or skip healing. Always heal before a drop, obviously, but if there's NOT a drop, I'm at like 80%, and things ahead are looking rough, I might save the heal in case I take unexpected amounts of damage. If I end up fine, and we've pushed ahead too far, I'm not wasting time by going back for the heal. Chances are I'll be fine.
It also depends on the map. Some maps have a pretty stupid amount of healing stations. Hab Dreyko comes to mind. You can skip like half of them there.

Also I generally prefer optimizing for ease of play than sweaty top-end performance. I only enjoy stressful gameplay sometimes, and then I'll obviously avoid playing crutch builds. I like relatively relaxed play, but I also like winning, and coming up with a build that achieves both is part of what I enjoy.

For all we know, anon might have some disability that forces him to use a controller, or literally a sub 80 IQ, or is on high dose painkillers, etc. and has already peaked skill wise. I got a head start because I started playing DT with ogryn and I started around 2023 January.
Also with ogryn it takes more actual map and game knowledge to do well. Since the amount of times I've seen other ogryns go down and die because the picked their battles badly is pretty large amount.

Even if you are a giant ogre with retard strength, it's still good to know and realize when to retreat.

If you can run and slide to avoid shooter harassment, a good build and an auto clicker will carry you through almost every situation that isn't trapper or dog related.
I regularly walk up to daemonhosts and club them to death, and they can't even break my toughness if I do a bit of side-slides. I guess we can add "knowing when do slap" to the list, because I guess packs of 8+ armored elites aren't solved by W+M1, you gotta walk backwards and slap sometimes.

I still don't like it.

And I still remember those 3 H30 that I did all which just ended before we got out of the 1st room, because the AI decided it was to spawn a captain, twins, 1 Pogryn, 1 Cspawn and 1 weak Cspawn while alongside a congaline of crushers and bulwarks. And nobody was rushing even.
It has just left bad taste in my mouth and even after getting H40 again, I have no interest in trying Havoc more. It's a waste of time.

Shield and rumbler is good, but it's youtuber meta. The actual strongest build is club and single stubber, skipping FnP in favor of heavy hitter just for the extra impact. Shovel is a bit of a sidegrade to club because it lets you stunlock monstrosities with max stacks.
With club you just button mash and everything short of monstrosities get stunlocked. Monstrosities can't outdamage the toughness you generate from max attack speed + toughness aura, so you just put a wall in your back and kill them.

No one TOOOONKS in havocs, if someone does, it's 100% because they are shitter.
Unironically looping H1->h2 infinetly while in Havoc is perfect for ogryn. H1 has shit tons of stagger and you can headshots lot of the horde with it, and H2 practically has unlimited cleave on it which is good due to Batter because putting 4 stacks of bleed on everything on a single swing is super strong.
Also the shield does have the benefit of being a shield, so you can paradoxically be more aggressive with since you can just block all ranged enemies, especially gunners and rock their shit.

I've played around with both, and I agree in theory, but in practice it depends on the group.
At the end of the day, I'm still mainly going to be playing with randos, and Go Again! lets me herd enemies more often, thus keep my retards safe more often. It also gives me better durability from being able to spam the toughness regen the taunt grants.
Both are good obviously, but I'll prefer self-sufficiency with teams I don't know I can trust.

Shooters are surprisingly non-threatening after the nerfs, when you can just pull them close.
I do acknowledge that shield is good, of course. I just think club is so fucking braindead that it physically can't get easier than that.

It was during a scripture mission and I picked up a script when my team mate passed me another script as well. Both of them came into my inventory and when we found the 3rd book it counted as having found all 3.
Seemingly how you get it to happen is that you need to pic up a script exactly at the same time as your team mate passes you a script.

Not sure if this is possible with ammo boxes and medpacks though.

TLDR; Rats can't burp so it makes their stomachs and intestines pop from gas buildup.

I think that's more of a symptom of playing on damnation veteran difficulty, while barrel veterans are designed for malice veretan difficulty. Barrel vets tend to kill most vets in lower difficulties until you get up to damnation veteran, where they only tickle the enemies but send your own veterans off cliff veterans.
