it launched with only 32 courses, same number of tracks as MK8.
now MK8 has 96. so I'm pretty sure they'll add more courses as DLC.

What characters would you like to see added as DLC?

Does charging a jump to get the boost actually slow you down compared to just driving in a straight line? I can swear I keep getting overtaken on straightways while charging my jump boost

I'd really like to know about karts and stats. Everyone says that we don't know since it hasn't been datamined but people are still pushing for WRs on a select few combos.

I can confirm that it is slower unless you are in water. In water you get a trick when you come up from underwater

they fired the voice actor for Mario and didn't do anything to honor the man that voiced Mario this whole time.
The old voice actor for peach apparently didn't know there was even a new Mario Kart game being made until the trailers came out. (they never approached her or asked or to voice Peach)

I just played the demo at the store and it felt floaty / loose, not as good as MK8.

I was hesitant about the intermission tracks at first, but now it's easier to sandbag than ever since you can just hang in the back with perfect view of the whole lobby in front of you. Afterwards just cheese the last lap with your OP double items and get an easy top 5 placement.

I could see the first DLC being Diddy Kong Racing themed. add some sort of warp pipe to a remade version of the Diddy Kong Racing area and add Diddy and a few other Kongs to the game.
Or maybe add other islands on the outskirts of the map. Wasn't there a race track that was on a cruise ship for one of the games? could use the cruise ship to ferry people and have them race while it's going.

Also: Are there any character / vehicle combo recommendations yet? I'm kinda just driving around with waluigi on the mach bike. Any other tips / tricks I should know?
