The whole point of Kaom's Primacy is that it's a cheap item.
If it's not a cheap item, you don't use it. It's not a build-enabling unique.
It's a way to skip finding/crafting a rare axe, something people do in 80% of those 8 hour to Pinnacles runs and they have no issues.
If you played melee in settlers, especially slams with autoexert, you know it has metric tons of damage and that a slightly inferior weapon isn't a problem the way it is if your build is dependent on some kind of charge stacking unique or some projectile interaction.

Snaking has more coverage (goes offscreen searching for enemies), guaranteed 3x multihit if you use it properly, and lets you scale ele damage.
ES has hard to quantify DPS (multihit is uncertain), extremely satisfying animation and interaction with warcries, but is best played if you manually piano at least a little. It's full phys damage so it has strong synergy with impale and you don't have to fuck with enemy resists/pen (but you also lose an easy scaling vector I guess).

PDR is a stat for chumps with zbuffer. Golems scale your defences which means you're gonna have a super fat ES and whatever else you pick (evasion by default, armor for aegis aurora build). Golems also give you cast speed, dot multi, aoe and increased damage, meaning you can ignore these stats on the tree and focus on what they don't give you - block, reservation/aura effect (scales your defences even further) and other neat shit.
You're gonna hit 10k ES/10k evaison or armor so much more easily than any other build.
And let's not even go into damage-reducing chill and damage-reducing ignite.
If you're worried about phys, put a cloak on. I absolutely wouldn't be though.

You have convocation which gives them 2% regen per second, and you should check their life pools.

Don't need to play a 100 skill setup, this isn't poe2. You also don't need to stack 100 auras, you can have Discipline+1 50% defensive aura+1 offensive aura or a mix with flesh and stone.

You take Primordial bond minion damage clusters which give you golem effect and life, while also giving you damage if you have spiritual aid. No further minion investment needed other than 1 wheel and maybe some unique jewels. Depends on the build.

What are they strained by? Movement in wep 1, 2 curses in wep 2, auras in head, golems in glove, dps skill in chest, convo+bone offering+tempest shield or exposure skill in boots.

Mercenaries are such a non-mechanic. Its just rogue exiles with extra steps. You'll find one the moment you enter red maps and never have to change it. No one is going to use any of these half baked trarthus gems because they look like dogs hit so there's not even any reason to fight them except for some lame currency items or the odd one with a unique affix.
