Regarding the discussion around X4 from the last bread, it's definitely way more accessible to new players compared to just a few years ago. I remember trying to get into X3 but found it to be exttremely obtuse. X4 (while still not in any way handholding) is such an improvement on the earlier entries in terms of easing new players into the systems. They just seem to dripfeed you new functions as you make your way across the universe, never trying to shoehorn the player into one thing but lets you pick what sorta role you want to spec into.

Currently building a mineral empire and getting in close with the spehs joos.

Lithoids aren’t the worst but your options are limited when using them. You can choose the overtuned origin to trade away their extra leader lifespan for very very good traits such as pre-planned growth which eliminates their lower growth rate, being a fanatic xenophobe or hive mind can also get rid of their lower growth rate (potentially on top of choosing pre-planned growth to actually get good growth) and they changed the calamitous birth origin to no longer give them a habitability penalty when colonizing with the meteors so that origin also has a way of making their growth rate more bearable. Choosing any origin other than those while also not being a hive mind or fanatic xenophobe will lead to a lot of pain though

I can still have fun with lithoids if I slap the meteor colony ship origin or subterranean on them. Subterranean at least caters to lithoids in several small ways. Anything else feels like, as you said it, pain.

There's a galaxy in my stellaris game on the outside that I can't get to. I've looked something up saying it's connected to a wormhole but I've scouted the entire Mao and found nothing.
