Assassin is fun for non cutscene encounters, so you can do assassinate outside of combat(mark fo death does not trigger combat ).
Then you hide during combat and assasinate again.
You can clean plenty of annoying units that are not bosses.

For better damage output outside of that ,trickster helps a lot (since it's now just non-good).
For some good team support, consider getting buckler prof (background or something) and get the mythic variant. That helps the team a lot.

You either pick Slayer for better bab and some good martial abilities and feats or rogue for debilitate and possibly thug to make fear come alive to those not immune.

It is more viable in general, just not optimal.
My experience was an Assain buckler Greybor.

It's a bit more complex than that. Let's say you want to boost Enchantment and Evocation.

First you take Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus on Enchantment, at MR2 you take Mythic Spell Focus Enchantment. So your DCs are now at +4 for Enchantment

Then you take Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus on Evocation and at MR4 you take Expanded Arsenal Evocation. This puts you at +4 DC for Evocation.

Then at MR6 you take Expanded Arsenal Enchantment. This gives a +4 to BOTH Enchantment and Evocation.

I have done one run of the game and I went for the prebuilt high phys idiot build. It was pretty funny, but I don't have much to compare it to. Doubt Owlcat wouldn't want to make it but it would take a long ass time. Owlcat is still presumably 2-3 ish years away from releasing their first mid budget game. They likely won't work on another higher budget game until that is done. BG3 took Larian like 6 years to make, I think? And WotC might want an ever higher budget game than Owlcat is able to. So yeah it's possible but likely would take 10-15 years. Another thing is now that WotC knows the IP is worth a lot they might want a bigger studio to handle it.

Souls get chipped away and broken down slowly over time so the wheel isn't perfect even if it wasn't broken in deadfire.

I think act 1 is fine. If you do absolutely everything and the void shadows you still only reach lvl 15 or 16 before fighting aurora, as opposed to lvl 14 (I think) as it was before the first dlc. I don't think 1 lvl in second tier archetype makes much of a difference for Aurora fight since he can still wipe the floor with you easily if you suck at positioning and he gets lucky (which he likely will)

I played on Daring or Core I can't remember, but never felt at risk of a TPK except for a couple times in the very early game.
