Looking back on it, Archie before the reboot really treated Silver, Blaze and Shadow horribly did they have some kinda grudge against game characters? Even Amy was done bad she was basically a cuck queen and every time Sonic and Sally were getting all lovey dovey in front of her they always had another character speak to Amy and ask if she's okay with that, Knuckles was kinda screwed over too thanks to Penders's autism and Tails, holy shit what a mess, that chosen one nonsense, that romantic nonsense, that shit with his parents, what the fuck, I thought Game tails was a mess with how he ping pongs between cowardly and locking in when he needs to to whatever the fuck his ass was in Lost World.
Maybe,maybe it's time to accept outside of about a handful of traits and appearences Sonic characters just don't have that much to them and every story changes them to suit the main writers needs or in this case multiple writers needs.
But since this is /sthg/ and most of you will probably scroll past this post without me saying something to entice your hatred or your horniess we'll go with horniness this time

Character wise i think Tails Adventure would make alot more sense if it was after the Adventure games where Tails developed as a character to be independent from Sonic.

I find it weird how poorly Tails was treated in 2000s Archie considering he was a part of the original Freedom Fighters from SatAM unlike the other game characters that appeared later
My theory is that Archie in the 90s portrayed Tails like he was in SatAM, just a cute kid sidekick tagging along. And while that is a part of the character they weren't aware that Tails is actually meant to be a mechanic and genius. So when Sonic Adventure comes out in 1999 showing Tails with a workshop building planes, they felt that Tails being a genius would take away from Rotor, since he was established to be the team's mechanic. This lead to Archie shitting on Tails for basically making Rotor redundant lol

Amy used to just make glorified cameos in Archie. I remember on rereads I would see Amy occasionally show up in an issue and it would remind me that she existed in the comic.

Well yeah they really did it to it with Tails (heh) in that Fiona shipping arc. But saying that the abuse is because they are "game characters" is very misguided. there could be other reasons to why they, won't say hate but I'll say feel like abusing, some characters. They did all sorts of things with all of them just you know.
It just occured to me that Knuckles only ever had a house in Sonic Battle that was right next to the Master Emerald shrine
In all other times Knuckles so steadfast in his duty that he doesn't have a shelter be it rain, snow or sweltering heat Knuckles will stand in front of that damn shrine for as long as he can stand it every day until he needs to shit and eat during those times he explores the island for food and according to sonic channel stories and the Frontiers preview animation he'll explore angel island, even IDW has this happen with him exploring stages from Sonic 3 and Knuckles such as Marbel Garden in one IDW issue and Lava Reef which is when Blaze arrived.
Honestly, when you think about how huge and varied the terrian of Angel Island is Knuckles pretty much has his own world up there, not to mention all the left over Eggman trash, apparently some of it is still operational like Launch Base and Carnival Night
If there ever a game fit for open zone gameplay Angel Island as Knuckles would be one, I don't know why Sonic Adventure made it look so small when it's so much bigger than that,

There are only 11 people on the Switch 2 leader boards for the first level in Shadow gens and 30 people on the leader board for Green Hill act 2 in Sonic gens. These are the most for each game with the remaining leaderboards having around 4 people.

Sonic twitter is also to blame because they shat their diapers and started bootlicking Roger when it was time for Sega to renew VA contracts a few years ago. It looked like they were going to all be dropped but enough crying ensured Sega listened to the "fan feedback"

Amy was created in a time in which all fictional characters were just assumed to be straight and sexual orientation wasn't even a question that entered the creator's mind. This included Sonic and all others in the franchise. In fact, homosexuality is still seen as taboo by many Japanese and that alone restricts Sega from creating any gay characters or making any of their existing characters gay. However, I think that Sega is definitely having second thoughts about creating Amy and they are moving away from defining her as "wannabe Sonic's girlfriend."
Sonic and Shadow have way more chemistry and emotional depth together than Sonic ever had with Amy. Their whole intense rivalry thing, the way they're obsessed with each other, how their biggest character moments happen when they're together - it all reads as way more meaningful than the forced Sonic/Amy romance ever did.

I personally think you should stay on track as much as possible. Certain idioms that would make no sense to a non-Japanese person could be translated, but I always liked the little notes at the side explaining certain cultural events.
As far as absolute literal word for word, I don't mind a couple of freedom of expression, as long as it's the exact tone and meaning
Puns I completely understand to change things, but I also have seen many manga do the bit on the side where they explain why a character would say this based on the subject
I think it's nice that you can pick up knowledge about another country when it's not changed dramatically.
Your average American will know who Babe Ruth is and some manga will change it to that, but put in Hideo Momo and it invites people to go learn something.
Can't stand when it's completely wildly different for the sake of Americanizing though.
But Americans can't help themselves, it's why Hollywood thinks its funny to butcher every foreign film with an American remake and fail with almost every British sitcom adaptation.
