With that being said, having the ability to archive information so that it may be accessed in the future for whatever that need may be (I'm not talking about xivg specifically, that's a completely different problem) is something that should be looked into so that trends can be analyzed, claims can be backed up with information, mistakes can be learned from.

There's a difference between data hoarding and anonymizing it for usage, and data scalping for personal gain or harm. I understand where, in the context of xivg, the archive of images Jill made for a personal project got misused, but at the same time I found old screenshots in that archive I thought lost to time because of it. Does that balance out the harm done from someone elses misuse? No, absolutely not

There is no harm in keeping the information, there is always potential harm in using it. Misinformation is ripe on the internet in the modern era, and archiving is a good way of fighting heresay.
Not that this idea works with the f-list post, mind, but it's more my stance on data collection in general

while I'm whinging I also don't like how much tighter the DPS checks are, I much prefer how it felt in the first tier where every boss had a mechanic that you could skip with good DPS, rather than having to do good DPS to clear at all.
