It's a +1 katana that never runs out of stamina, so you can keep r1 mashing forever and still have plenty of stamina to dodge or deflect.

I tried taking Libra's strength respec deal on Recluse, just for the hell of it. It seems to not just funnel your stats into strength, but actually gives you a full melee build with more vigor/endurance.
The boss loot may be targeted towards your new stats as well, I was finding greatshields and other big weapons off bosses and I don't think I found a single staff after the respec.
I'm not sure why you would ever do this over just picking a melee class, but Libra doesn't half-ass the respec if you do take it.

now that the dust has almost settled, what did you think of it?
for me the positives
>didn't drag on for as long as vanilla elden ring did

the downsides being

i have no idea how to consistently build a character to do well. I feel like playing Wylder I'm basically just praying for +% when two handing. Jump attacks feel like a dps loss over just doing light chains or charged heavy attacks. I never know when to pick up +% affinity stuff. I basically just grab damage negation stuff and hope for one damage type and it feels really suboptimal. Also if I have a raider in the group, it feeels hopeless.

Replays really suffer from the scadu frags system. I'd disagreed on them being a mistake the first run though but the second time really exposed how unpleasant the system is to me. I haven't gone through a third time yet and probably never will.

i got it again today, and i don't get it.
instead of letting his sister die, he chose to become the nightlord and remake the roundtable hold.
this isn't even guaranteed to free his sister. she might end up still eternally trapped, and now having to kill her own brother.
all he did for sure is restart the war against the nightlord. the nightfarers will have to do it all over again.
it kinda seems like a bad ending.

I kinda hate Norkon shift. There's no central castle, so there's no convenient place to level up fast in the end of day 1. And the location itself is pretty labyrinthine so someone always gets lost. And by the time the whole team in at Astel location we're always either underleveled or too late (or both).

the janky animation priority, inherent slowness and shitty input systems kind of form the core of what made dark souls 1 work so well as a game. both you and the enemies were generally slow, so encounters were always quite tactical and strategic, like you had time to *think* whether you should use an item or conserve stamina or whatever. more recent souls games are just very immediate and spammy in general, but the actual core of the game can't really handle it properly, so the best way to beat enemies since dark souls 3 has been to just pump vigor, spam m1 and chug for the most part.

I also take my time looting chests and interacting with corpses if it's on our way/isn't a detour, more often than not it's where I end up getting the good bonuses, if I had to estimate I'd say that 30% of the bosses gives shit that isn't useful for me or my teammates, now every settlement/structure gives at least one item that will help me or someone else with damage/survivability.
