the problem is if you let any shielded melee enemy hit you with a heavy attack, they can essentially stun lock you. I was caught in a loop with melee enemy where I self revived like 10 times because each time I could not run away from melee range fast enough before the next heavy attack was executed. And being unable to reload while running also sucks.

Using the same one and I don't think most enemies have taken more than two hits, even in the harder areas. There are a few tricks to it. If an enemy does the dodge move, the drills fall off. They don't usually seem to do that however. Mostly if they're closing in on you and are about a foot away. If you keep backpedaling, it can be avoided.

If their shield ever turns off while drills are stuck to them, the drills also fall of. This makes it a pretty bad weapon against the flamethrower/minigun guys, who are also tanky to begin with and will take more than two shots. I typically change to sniper rifle for dealing with them or any other unshielded target.

it's a survivalcraft game first and foremost, not really an MMO, unless you consider ARK and Rust and Conan Exiles MMOs. That means grinding for thousands of materials endgame and the reward is farming better and faster.

PvE focused, the dungeons are just points of interest that drop materials and might be related to contracts, they're decent slogs where you have to find door keys. The gear requires constant upkeep, so does your base. Solo, two people, however you want to play, you have to run a lot as solo. Strong points are it's new and popular and I don't know why you need convincing unless this friend sucks, I'd love if any of my friends wanted to play a survival game. It has lots of active players but it will fall off like most survival games do post-launch when all the streamers leave it for something newer. It comes with all the server and game stability issues of a popular new game.

Storm rolled in at just the wrong time, tried to squeeze under to hopefully protect my buggy, obviously that didn't work. Getting in and moving either direction does not move an inch. Using the unstuck command while in it also does nothing, it counts down from 10 to 0 then keeps going into negative numbers. I've been playing on and off the last couple of days solo, have a well-stocked and cozy little concrete shack in the Vermillion Gap but I feel kinda slow in some ways, like I have all these skill points but barely any trainers or skill trees unlocked.

Am I right in suspecting that I can take a fast mark2 sandbike with boost mk2 and basic-ass iron gear and go out to higher level zones in order to leapfrog progression by mining just enough to make new cutters until aluminum, then get a scout thopter so I can actually play the game the way I want to?

The idea of repeating the process from South Hagga of founding a new base, abandoning the old one, transferring shit, finding the trade hub, doing quests, all over again ad nauseum is kinda killing my motivation. With a scout thopter I could at least find the trainers I'm missing and actually do stuff in a more targeted, less wandering way.

Then you can fly wherever.

If you want to be a solo rat then you need to think like a rat. Rush Mk6 Scout 'Thopter ASAP and take the boost module so you're as fast as possible. Don't go straight north from a DD entrance. Instead, go AROUND the periphery and go far north before you start looking for SMALL spice deposits which are less likely to attract groups. Once you're ready to go back, again don't take a direct route to the nearest exit. The desert is massive and only 300 players are allowed in it at a time. You can make profitable excursions as a solo player as long as you're not retarded about it.

There is a horizon indicator (the straight line with the little triangle notch in it at the mid point). Your aim needs to be a little bit below that in order to glide straight. Your targeting reticle is above, you climb until you lose too much speed and can't climb anymore and then dive back down, gaining speed before aiming back up, resulting in that bobbing.

Know what would make me want to play pvp in Dune? Faction warfare. Have a section of the Deep Desert, or hell, even a separate area altogether, where Atreides and Harkonnens clash. Each faction are pvp immune to friendlies, but can kill the other faction. Put up some points to contest and hold. Add a little risk/reward stuff. Boom, actually enjoyable pvp.
Hell, add something like Darkness Falls from DAoC. Atreides/Harkonnen bases to raid with very difficult NPC enemies. Have them change faction if certain conditions are met, so it's mostly pve, but if you're inside when the faction is changed, you remain there and can ambush people looking to farm.

Guild Wars Factions style push-pull terrain control would be really cool.

The real problem is that my server seems completely atreides dominant. Checking lansaarad at the end of the week showed harks only having two tiles. Atreides had almost the entire board.

I imagine most servers are similarly one-sided toward one faction or the other with a likely overall tilt toward Atreides simply because Harkonnen have exceedingly little redeeming factors. I don't know how Guild Wars managed it but Luxon vs Kurzick always felt relatively even.

One guy with a maxed out scout thopter was able to kill 3 of our mk5 assaults without even getting hit by any of our missiles. When we left out thopters we tried to shoot him from the ground. He just landed on us and we could do nothing to him because dart weapons apparently do no damage to vehicles.

Yes, that one is very unfortunate. The good parts of V Rising PvP basically ignore progression and gatekeeping, fighting arena fights with nearly maxed out builds.

PvP just ignores gear score differences, which does not amount to much as gear abilities and bonuses are an important part of the build. So there is one silver lining that very late in development Conan exiles got a rather neat updates that added triggerable base sieges and a very large NPC base that playeres could attack in a kind of psuedo pvp action. I've noticed that if I or another player fight them, after a few minutes of some of them being dead the server will occasionally spawn in a group of slavers to come "raid" that camp, kirab vs slavers. There are places where NPCs do perpetual battle, like by the NW ironworks. It's kinda dumb imo. If you build a base near there you hear gunfire 24/7. tips ive picked up recently after entering the thopter/flying stage of the game in case anybody doesn't know:
-deposting solari in the bank at either of the capitals allows you to use that money from anywhere like a credit card so you don't have to carry it on your person
-which direction you enter hagga basin from on the world map determines which part of hagga basin you pop up in when you load in. probably worth keeping in mind when selecting a location for a late game base because you spend increasing amounts of time commuting to the world map and the capitals in the later quests. if you're VERY close to the border of the map, you can even use it as a sort of fast travel by exiting near your base and popping in from a different direction on the world map.

You ever play Lord of the Rings Online? The housing system in that has a bunch of different neighborhoods. Each one has the same map, same streets, same houses, but different players can buy the houses so you'll have different neighbors depending on which neighborhood you choose. You can freely visit the other neighborhoods, but you can only own real estate in one. That's how the world/sietch system works

Just keep progressing and clearing camps, making sure to loot the chests. My home is right near one of the bigger bandit camps with intel but it doesn't require an id band to get the good loot, ie the really fancy looking chest. So whenever I did blood/body runs I could also quickly nab all the chests for an easy 2 to 3 thousand solari. I also have easy access to a testing station which has several chests for even more money.

Contracts/quest rewards are also quite substantial so you could focus on them if you need cash quickly. Depending on your server you could try selling blueprints at the exchange but ymmv widely. In my case, the blood and chest runs I did near my home would usually have 2, sometimes 3 unique blueprints. One of which is some fancy sounding sword that people seem to like. I put it up dirt cheap and every one has sold. I've sold maybe 10 of these but this is only a tiny fraction of what I've earned from just clearing camps and doing contracts.

Basically, just keep playing. You'll find larger amounts of money in later areas and by completing quests.

If you like the Dune setting, you'll enjoy this game. Otherwise, it is a solid enough survival crafting game. Mine rocks to tech up and mine differently colored rocks, etc. The Dune stuff really elevates the experience for me personally. I think you'll lose interest in the game quicker if the setting and lore isn't what grabs you. That said you can very easily get 50+ hours out of it. The voice stuff from the BG tree is mostly single target CC. You can order 1 person to move to you, ignore you, or just outright do nothing. I personally don't use it much but they are useful.

The main BG skill most people use is the sprint. Quick and dirty webm very much related. BG Sprint + suspensor belt is ridiculous mobility. You can do the same vertically with another skill, shigawire.
