Finally bought Nightreign after weeks of trying to dodge spoilers. Should I play it solo for my first time or play it with randos for the first time? None of my IRL friends want to play it. I watched the Scott Jund video and I have to say he's kind of retarded? He does point out the obvious points (run variance bad, the buffs are too gradual and bland, etc.) but he also kept getting lot's of basic stuff wrong, like saying there's 4 variants of the castle (isnt there only 3?) or that the remembrance relics are the end-all best in slot for every character. Also keeps comparing it to binding of isaac without acknowledging how most roguelikes don't even come close to that benchmark of how densely packed it is with run altering items - the game is an outlier.

After a break continued my all bosses solo guardian run. Surprisingly got heolstor to like 15% on a really shitty run. If I didn't get super unlucky and get fucking madness and later sleep as his phase 2 statuses I think I could have won. Granted it's not a cakewalk compared to the shit I pulled with ironeye or executor but it feels so very doable

i feel like my drops have been shit since the patch. pre-patch, i'd play ironeye and half the stuff i'd get would have range-passives. or i'd play wylder and get passives i care about. now it seems like no matter who i play, i end up getting a ton of "sorcery up" buffs or similar.

Whether you open with one or the other just depends when you need Frederick mostly, sometimes I plop him away from whatever I am fighting for the personal damage boost if a melee is occupying everything already.
Sebastian laser does pitiful damage actually, he is more useful for the roar that can pick people up easily if 1 or 2 bars, and he interrupt some heavier bosses attacks similar to executor ult. Besides that if you are against a boss with non-piercing projectiles, place him in front of you to soak. You can also place him on hills to screw with the AI of bosses in certain spots.

so with max luck, same with recluse, revenant is loaded up on 3+ stacks of starlight shards, level 15, has elden stars/lightning bolt/discus/triple rings of light, and passives and talismans that boost damage, you can't truthfully say revenant is the least fun at this point
