Characters in ZZZ, besides role, can be divided into "on-field" or "off-field" use. On-field characters have incentives or designs that encourage them being the active character primarily while off-field characters are designed to be used sporadically or have designs that let them attack while not the active character and/or encourage swapping. In the case of Pan, he's designed to be off-field support for Yixuan and future Rupture characters, and Yixuan is designed to be played as on-field, which is why her featured A Ranks are both Off-field characters (Pulchra can attack/build up daze while she's not being played.) No one is saying you can't. The issue here is that with each new DA rotation, the bar for a 20k clear rises. Like if last rotation required you to do 1m HP for 20k, this one requires 1.2m HP. Otherwise, I'd say for them to delve deep into the mystery of what happened in the old eridu and the void hunters. Like, there's this whole lore and plot related to the main characters, but isn't explored enough like in an overarching story. I think the success of HSR story-wise is because they (Shaoji) knows this and dedicate each big patch (2.X, 3.X, maybe 4.X) to a whole new place with a bunch of stories who intertwine between them and the main storyline. Though zzz has some set pieces for this here and there, it's already past the time they developed the main mysteries of the game. So, yeah, I feel like making the story less forcedly episodic and more overarching with cliffhangers and so on would help to keep things more interesting. Hell, they could even dedicate entirety of one of these patches to delve deeper in a single character that's involved in the grand scheme of things, like HSR did with Aventurine, Acheron and Firefly in 2.X. It's when we put things like this in perspective that you see that Shaoji isn't so much of a bad writer after all.
