Hi everybody, I played SV for a little bit some years ago, I stopped playing because I was kinda bored of card games in general (also stopped playing HS at the time), can someone give me a quick rundown of what exactly is happening? Why they decided to make a new client/game on Steam? Can I transfer any of my old cards over? Would it even matter since powercreep is a thing in every card game? What were the major changes in the game in the last 5 years or so? Will I get overwhelmed if I jump back into it right now?

Sorry if this sounds like too many questions, if there's a FAQ anywhere I'm missing, please direct me and I'll gladly read all of it

If you get another dupe you get the last one and then that character's exchange ticket disappears from the pool and your rates for other character's tickets increase instead.

SV World Beyond is a sequel to the original. New mechanics, different cards, lots of new additions.

Many reasons, most importantly the old game was running on an outdated engine and it was just too outdated to make any significant changes to gameplay. The rebranding also helps attract new players since digital TCGs are much more popular now than they were years ago.

Now, this game is gonna have completely different cards and sets, the old cards wouldn't work because they remade the mechanics of the game. A lot of the most popular old cards are being reworked to fit the new game mechanics though. You can't transfer cards but if you have data from SV you do get special gifts like cosmetics and stuff.

SV didn't have many major changes because they couldn't add anything to the old engine without breaking other stuff, that's part of the reason we have a new game, so they can evolve the mechanics. They are adding a new type of evolution called super evolution which gives certain cards special affects and can swing games wildly, they are adding a ramp mechanic for players who go 2nd as a way of balancing the game, they are adding a 3D hub area where you can interact with other players, have a house, customize stuff, have a guild, play soccer, and join tournaments (kinda like the hub area in SF6). There are other changes like better animations but those are the major ones.

Be prepared for a lot of nerfs, on the bright side though the game is probably the most F2P friendly TCG out there, and you can get a full refund on a card if they nerf it so you can craft another card of equal value. I've played a ton of gacha and spent 1000s over the years, I'm going to reroll if I'm able. Although it's gotten to a point now where if my starting luck isn't good I'm not gonna bother.
