Playtime will allow you to learn core items on your heroes of choice, keep your pool smaller at first not to overcomplicate things. You don't typically need to stray much from your core shit especially now that slots matter more, don't panic itemize because you think you're going to need to ,itemize against the problem players on the enemy team especially if you're fighting them a lot. I said wall-jump mantle is dead but that's not 100% true. It can be done at either corner of course, where the angle of the stairs on top lower the height, and you CAN get on top of the statues protruding from the bottom of the archways with a wall jump, and then jump one more time to mantle from there. It is slower, though, and the geometry on the statues is slightly wonky and might cause you to slide off into a fall state and make the third jump a double jump. Basically, stay off the edge of the cups they're holding, so the best approach is wall-jumping up the side of the statues (though this means you are in sight from the opposite archway)

Vyper loves new mid lane, by the way. T1 Slither + fleetfoot = no stamina slide loops underneath those arches.

With self-damage mechanics being integral to how his kit works, players have to learn how to balance the benefits of his 2 and 3 in a fight vs. the obvious downside of eating away at his own health on a case by case basis. I think just looking at the buy rate on an item like Blood Tribute or even Fury Trance would tell you it's not something most players are comfortable with, which means if he is good, it's going to be at high ELO, while lower rank players will just continually blow themselves up. Add the random factor of how his 4 could just pop off and turn an unwinnable fight by virtue of him just refusing to die and we could have another Shiv situation where the hero is just a pain in the ass to balance because 80% of the player base can't pilot him for dick, while the remaining 20% is tearing their hair out over this unkillable goth hunk terrorizing games.
