It has a solid enough gun and respectable enough armor for what it is, it would've fared okay against the Sherman if the US invaded Japan in 1944-1945
It also probably would've done OKAY against the Sherman if deployed intelligently on Japanese held territories, if we're in an alternative history where Japan has the resources to deploy it en-masse and isn't being steamrolled
Of course, it would've gotten fucking destroyed by the M26 but that wasn't a concern when the Chi-Nu was being developed
All of that said, I feel like Japan was fighting a mostly defensive war and should've shifted a lot more focus to TDs - make cheap, easy to produce casemates that can mount the best guns you have since that's what works for holding ground.
Instead the Japanese tree, sparse in general, has like one "TD" which is a truck with a 75 slapped on top and a premium Ho-Ri which is good but I still wonder why Japan never decided to produce their own indigenous StuG considering Germany was willing to ship them a Tiger to study and the StuG was probably the best bang for your buck among Axis tank designs

Years ago people complained about the grind. Gaijin put up a vote for possible economy changes.
The options were:
a.) keep things as they were
b.) lower the reward multiplier for victories, increase it by the same amount for losses
This might sound like not much of a problem at a first glance. The problem is that the winning team will always have more awardable actions (kills, caps, assists, time in battle). Especially the latter is extremely obvious in ARB and GRB, where most of the losing team will be gone (and thus no longer do anythign they could be awarded RP for) while players in the winning team stick around and collect more match time.
So option b.) leads to a significant reduction in RP awarded to all players.
SPANISH_AVENGER does not understand simple statistics, and is a massive autists on top. He wrote hundreds of comments on reddit and the forums to advocate for option b.), which won by a small fraction.
As if that wasn't enough Gaijin lowered the overall RP multiplier by 15% or so because now the players in losing teams weren't suffering so much anymore)))))))
