Honestly, I used to enjoy Destiny for ages, genuinely. I started in Season of the Haunted, and stayed around until Final Shape. The entire lead-up to Final Shape and the first two-three weeks of it were PEAK. Into The Light felt like what Lightfall wanted to be, the penultimate event where we must defend our people from our greatest enemies. Final Shape felt like a true love letter to the series with everything they did with it.

Destiny 1 had the massive benefit of the time it was released in because not a ton of games really did this hybrid, 3rd parties even conventionally good game journo-review people had barely any access to companies back then and the entire thing was ripe to sell to people with this over the top marketing and buzzwords of "Halo meets WoW", despite the game itself always having some pretty hefty limitations. Bungie still does this, they sell the idea of something seeing way larger than life and involved that it'll ever be. It barely qualifies as a true survival extraction like experience in terms of the pacing and just what hero abilities there are and all that. Easily. Each season could be compressed into a single mission each with a few cutscenes interspersed. And really, most of the seasons were of such little consequence, their story beats could be slipped into other relevant missions, or even into other content. So about 15 missions just for the seasons, red war could be done in two or three decent sized missions. Curse of osiris story beats can absorb several seasons plot, and also take up 3 missions. Destiny i'd give each location(faction) two missions, and two each for oryx and siva. That's only 33 missions and you could easily fit all of destiny's plot in those. Moat of the content, especially seasonal content, is just hampsterwheel activities with one to three voicelines to further the plot. And most of the story missions since CoO are built around patrol zones, instead of being dedicated mission maps with linear layout. There's a lot of fat you can cut.

Power parity and lower red bars will still die to one or two glaive strikes, while +15 will probably take a full combo without any damage modifier. Winter's bite getting its melee reduces by 70% against bosses is obviously a direct response to that build being one of titan's four builds since into the light. Check out the Heresy weapons and see if any catch your eye. The machine gun and the healing auto are both nice, but if nothing strikes your fancy then grind away chasing your catalyst. It sorta depends. Glaive melee was weapon damage that had a few exotics it worked with. The x4 max damage they can deal now is much easier to get for all classes now. However base damage was reduced by significant amounts for all enemy types. The old max damage could only be hit by a handful of very specific builds, but was over twice what the new damage cap is.

That's assuming you suck so badly that it takes you an extra 15 minutes past mission end to actually complete a mission, only getting the minimum 20sc per 45 min mission, and getting zero 100sc drops.
