You always were able to separate the tools, they don't have any sort of "they have to stay together" lore stuff, quite the opposite (after all, Dagoth Ur had the weapons when Vivec wielded the gauntlet).

It's more that something's fucked with Keening due to various bullshit. I wanted to fix the bugged enchantment (after having to explain to Todd a bunch of times that a 0 charge 0 cost enchantment isn't infinite, but only fires once) but they didn't allow CC stuff to implement bugfixes, so I just went with the whole empowerment thing.

No. Vigilant has plenty of roleplay options some of which lets you do evil shit like heartlessly murdering a mother and daughter. It also lets you submit to Molag on numerous occasions. A vampire submitting to Molag makes a lot of sense though this results in you being yeeted into the 4th act of vigilant.
Also, not all vampires are bad. Serana worked alongside the Dawnguard.

My two-handed skill just hit 100. I'm level 42. Everything is taking 20 swings or 10 power swings to kill. I'd used trainers and books to get my Destruction still up to 51. I used Waking Dreams to take my perks out of 2H and put as many as I could into Destruction. Everything is dying from a dual-cast Fireball in three or four blasts. Mana is a non-issue because of accumulated gear.

Having a similar experience. My previous Skyrim characters were melee-oriented, my current one is a caster (first time ever). It's shockingly strong, safe and mobile. I know I'd be up shit creek on a melee character, doing the quests and fighting the mobs I'm currently handling with ease. Recently cleaned out like 12 bandits in one fight without having to dip into any healing of any sort. I don't remember that being an option for a pure fighter around level 10 and Expert level difficulty, you'd be chugging potions and still struggling to stay alive.

Maybe it'll taper off the higher you level, but it all goes to show that combat systems have never been a priority concern for Bethesda games. So long as it all just kinda sorta works.

The more I play Skyrim the more I want to play something else, mostly Morrowind or Fallout. It's not bad, it's just really dull. Skyrim really lacks some kind of highlight making the game worth playing.
Morrowind has that sturdy dialogue system with a lot of lore. NV has a bunch of RPG mechanics and different ways of progressing. Fallout 4 has settlement building and something else I guess
Skyrim (with mods) has all of the above but worse and less. It's a game that does a lot of things but nothing of it is made great or at least indepth
The worst part is that I can't just put it down and go play something else because my Skyrim modlist takes up a significant chunk of my SSD

Unfortunately most of what you find is just a variation of what you've already seen if not a one-to-one copy. Every cave looks like every other cave with very few exceptions. Morrowind mods don't have this problem, Tamriel Rebuilt tries very hard for each dungeon to be somewhat unique, besides environments there are way more interesting. Fallout also doesn't have this problem because of the difference in setting, there you just have a lot more assets and different kinds of locations that you can find

Mod Idea: Skyrim Kart

When you wake up in the carriage with Ralof, the two of you decide to kick the guy driving the carriage in the head, he falls onto the floor and is trampled by horses and dies. Then you and Ralof take over the cart and start driving it around the other carriages as they start shooting you and you do crazy tricks and jumps. Tullius, Ulfric, Elenwen and Alduin watch and are amazed. They immediately decide that no longer shall conflicts be solved by wars, but by kart races. They all set up a kart tournament that takes place in skyrim, with kart tracks put in each of the holds that you have to race against different skyrim characters to win and decide wether the dragons, thalmor, imperials or stormcloaks get control of skyrim.

Because it would take forever for people to migrate the entire library of mods on nexus or even a substantial majority of that library.

Probably a significant amount of modders will feel like they can't be bothered to reupload on a new site, particularly if there is no obvious winner in the competition to be the new nexus. And there definitely be a competition for that now that the fag that ran nexus is walking away with likely $10M+.
Every mod that isn't actively maintained will have to be re-uploaded by some unrelated person which makes it a lot less likely to happen in the first place, and if that does happen it will likely cause an autism freakout over permissions, another flashpoint likely to cause splintering.

Nexus only reached the level of centralization for modding it has because it's been around for 20 years. Without that it will be a gigantic pain in the balls to mod games to the level that is possible with the whole modding world in the same place.
