The color changes.
The SMT5 demons ported over with no design updates to fit the game's setting.
The UI changes are a hit or miss too. I personally dislike how the text boxes with their cute custom frame were turned into a boring low opacity horizontal black line, but I didn't see anyone bring it up so it might be just me.
The DLC practice and the price are both scummy but ATLUS has been doing this for over a decade and they're not going to stop.

I think the price given the nature of the product and the color changes are the most egregious issue for me.
The latter can be solved with a Reshade preset and perhaps a texture mod surely, and if not solved it could at least improve the situation which might be good enough.
And for the price I'll just wait until christmas or w/e. I'm in no rush to play the remaster, thankfully.

The difference between the Last Battalion in P2 and Hirohito in Raidou is clear though.
The former is *not* a real WW2 nazi army and it was born out of the ramblings of occulture fanatics becoming reality, it's not far off from the Yeti becoming real in the same way and both censored and uncesored it was obvious that it's all tied to the campy world of old conspiracy theories tied to the nazis where they often are the villains who would employ dark magic in their search for the Spear of Longinus.
The latter is meant to be the SMT equivalent of a controversial real life WW2 historical figure to the point it's left vague in the original as so only historical nuts will get it, so it had multiple blog posts in Japanese and English detailing and explaining how it was meant to be him and how it tied back to the narrative. You couldn't opt out of saving his life, basically indirectly tying Raidou to his war crimes. It was a story part where the morals of the situation were left to the player's interpretation, clearly painting Raidou as a puppet of the Yatagarasu, so it wasn't quite a clear cut black or white narrative... but because the guy WAS Hirohito and not someone generic you can also have a positive interpretation of this scene and see it from a pro-Imperialist Japan PoV.

From what I played of SMT 1... there is no Jesus (and in general various figures that count as Messiahs or similar roles are not present, like Buddha Himself or Muhammad). The Crucifix of Messians is just for aesthetic purposes. They may look like the Vatican but Messians are basically Zionists in their fanatical search for the Messiah, in the way they claim to be the chosen people, in their goal to build the Millennium Kingdom and the way they deadass revive the Law Hero is eeriely reminiscent of certains aspects of Blood Libel (often employed to revive those that were thought to be the Messiah).
The closest thing to Jesus in SMT is Aleph, I did not play the game but the parallels are too evident; the PS1 port's cover has him in the famous pose of Michelangelo's Pietà, it could not be more explicit than that.

(Sidenote; Maybe Messians deleted all proof of Jesus' existence in the SMT world but they still decided to clone him to control his powers? Lol, I doubt it though because like I said, any religion with a confirmed human-born Saviour is purposefully excluded from SMT's story).

There is also something very important that people often do not seem to notice: SMT always puts The Player, (You), in a Saviour role. So Jesus (or other similar figures) cannot really be part of the kind of story SMT wants to be as it would take away from The Player's own role as Messiah, therefore... yeah, Aleph can be SMT's Jesus if he wants to. All of this to say that his mother is bound to be SMT's own Mary in that situation.

Probably the worst sword type because of how the elemental buffs worked (they were flat damage and not multiplicative, this means multi hit things go much harder than a single hard attack) Spear/Sword could let you skip phases on the super boss because of how much damage you dealt and normally melted bosses with ease. That said I also didn't like it for frame-data reasons/personal preference (slower than sword/spear and I don't remember it giving i-frames so I preferred faster hits/frames).

I will laugh if the complaints of bloated health pools are somehow dev a response to this interaction and they just decided to keep it this way instead of making it multiplicative so its good on everyone.

Played some more Raidou tonight.
You can have multiples of the same demon in your tubes which I didn't expect at all. I am getting retarded ideas like just having multiples of Thor-sama in all of my tubes but I love having just one of him, frankly. I didn't unlock Gouma-den yet but this fact and the grinding DLC will make me unleash my fusion autism for sure.

I can't stress enough how much this game might as well be a remake, I have no fucking idea why they called it a remaster. If The Thousand Year Door on Switch is called a remake, then this one absolutely counts as one if not more. They did far more than just port Nocturne and slap shit filters on it.
Also, the Italian localization is interesting (it shows love and research for the franchise from what I am noticing, which is neat) and far less grating than what I saw from the english localization of other Atlus games in recent years. It also uses a lot of rare and refined words, very nice.
My only fear is that since it's Italian it might have fedora-tipping atheist bias towards Angels but I hope not.

Yeah, early SMT avoided Savior figures, but that kind of faded way with time. Nowadays we have Mary as a recurring demon, Maitreya Buddha was in IV Apocalypse. Even in older games you had some Hindu figures like Kalki that should be in savior roles being portrayed as just another demon.

Really, I actually think the big issue with Jesus is probably that some older staff seems to see him as just a human preacher. When you read the visionary events added to SMTI, one of them has the Law Hero as a child reading a book about the "Messiah who appeared long ago". A girl asks him if the Messiah is God, and he says it isn't, but he's someone who works hard for God and he wishes to be someone like that. Now, it's just children talking so I guess you could argue it's not necessarily the developers' view, but I think it easily explains why no "Jesus" demon and why Aleph, the artificial Messiah in SMT2 gameplay-wise is basically the same as SMT1's protagonist rather than having magic and such. Their idea of a "Messiah", including Jesus, is human at its core.

But, like I said, now that we have Mary as a recurring standard demon, not having Jesus becomes just bizarre (even before SJ Redux, SMTIV already talked about Mary as a human who ascended to the level of the gods).

Sega isn't even doing the Zelda or Kirby way. So far with Raidou and Sonic & Sahdow the Switch 2 versions are completely separate from the Switch ones. There's no upgrade path at all, not even paid, aside from buying the full game for Switch 2.

It also does not surprise me at all, IV's duology makes no difference between Judaism and Christianity with its Messians (idk if they are called that there), going as far as to make its Millennium Kingdom, Mikado, a Medieval Feud. I think the whole reason they created this split is because this way they avoided having to make new story content for Chiyoda + Demon's Castle, which was actually the biggest area in the original SMTV.

Even if there is a new upgrade/DLC, I doubt they'd bother "fixing" that since people likely wouldn't consider it an actual addition compared to having equivalent new content that could be advertised as a completely new addition.
