Saving Final Fantasy isn't that complicated.
ATB Command based, real time action RPG. Jobs with unique Commands. Instant switch like Paradigm Shift, but switching the Jobs are tied to the Dress/Garbs like X-2 or LR. Sex appeal for women and rule of cool for men. Beautiful and cosplay-able outfits for the girls and badass eye candy stuff for the guys. Female characters should be bold and ambitious, defy expectations. Front and center or even the protagonist themselves sometimes. But the main story still always has a strong male hero lead, hero is equal with the heroine and a dynamic supporting cast that represents many different personalities of men and women alike. A light hearted tone to contrast the often dreadful story events. Good sense for comedy and not taking itself all too seriously, because it is a fun video game after all. Science fiction elements that can allow you to go in bold new artistic directions, but keep the many traditional fantasy elements of the Command based JRPG front and center.
Sorcerers and Sorceresses, Knights and Lady Knights. Thief, Black Mage, Dark Knight, Dragoon. SPIKY HAIR. Bold, over the top costumes, Nomura costumes, and the Amano costumes with lots of beads, flowing patterned cloth, capes, hip sashes, leotards, white hair and weird horned helmets.

Playing FF2 via the Pixel Remasters for the first time (mostly for convivence since I only own a console). I did a bit of research on the leveling system but most shit you can find nowadays is min/max shit like "level everyone to max with double shield to get 98% evasion and then never take damage" which doesn't interest me. I'd like some challenge in my RPGs to the point I played the FF1 Pixel Remaster at 0.75% experience gain since I like to fight all my random encounters and they fucked up the exp gain so it gave too much.
From what I understand characters level randomly after a fight based on actions I take in the fight and the fight's level compared to mine. For example sword melee might give STR, a heal might give spirit, black magic int, taking damage HP, bow gives something. Then if its 1 goblin I probably wont get any weapon rank EXP or a stat boost but if its 9 AssraperEX mobs I probably will.
So really there isn't a ton of point leveling people with all the different weapons as long as each person uses 1-2 different ones so each type can be filled in case cool ones for each type drop.
Would a good strategy be
>Give everyone Cure/Life (since it can be used in menus) and self buffs (Barrier/Shell/Haste/ect) since they don't really scale against magic skills and might as well use their MP if you have it.

The most important change that should be made to a hypothetical Final Fantasy VI Remake is for them to turn it from 1 game into at least 2 games. One game for the World of Balance and another for the World of Ruin. This is the most important change that could possibly be made to Final Fantasy VI and I think that it would add a lot to the game to do this. Or, should I say, dividing it into at least 2 different games would allow Square Enix to put more game into Final Fantasy VI. Think of all the World of Ruin fetch quests and minigames they could add. Think of all the additional lore. There would be a lot of things only possible by turning it into multiple games that couldn't be achieved with just 1.

Is the hate for the combat system specifically in this game overblown? I feel like it was hated on at the time, and since then it became a meme or "cool to hate" just because of the reaction then. The lack of towns, no actual side quests (except for hunting), hiding the lore behind everything was a dumb move. The script got changed midhalf and the entire L'cie Fal'Cie while INCREDIBLY easy to understand was still really confusing.
There was even a fucking DLC planned with an optional superboss, which got cutted because of x360 or ps3 store requirements.
Basically everything that got cut out was moved to the two sequels, which had a much worse production value than 13.

The reason? some sidequests (it includes the last one) have manuscripts, just some of them, mainly the ones that has monsters fights in it (it will show you when you enter the sidequest menu). The last sidequest is unlocked once you finish the rest.
Ill try to explain
Lets say that in you finished the game and you have 6/8 sidequests done. Thats your "highest" master sidequest amount. The game will offer you three choices when it comes to replaying the sidequests.
1. Use your master sidequest amount (the 6/8 will be completed and it will not allow to replay the sidequests, just finish the last 2, it will update as you do the other 2)
2. Use your current playthrough sidequest amount (if you reset all the sidequests from the beginning and finish, lets say 2/8, then the next chapters will keep that 2/8 unless you choose 1.)
3. Reset all sidequests progress, allowing you to replay all of them
So, now that you didnt do them all, my suggestion is to do the rest of the sidequests in HARD mode so you get the manuscripts immediately (your master sidequest amount will upgrade to 8/8 the highest in all playthroughs), including the last sidequest. Then, replay the chapters and reset the sidequest completely, replay the sidequests with manuscripts and thats it. (your 8/8 sidequest amount will be saved forever, it is the highest one)
If you finished all the sidequests before finishing the game, then you would have had to replay ALL of the sidequests from the beginning in hard to unlock the last one in reset mode, which is time consuming.
As for what it stays for ng+, everything except some minor stuff like the first chocobo. The rest is unlocked, and it will show you the treasure chests and chocobo stops you missed.

because its summer these are the outfits i have everyone in its hard to get them all in the same frame
getting access commands out is hard when you're high level in low level areas so i have weaker weapons equipped for them and hope for the best
