Classic Cu Lancer is a pretty good budget last man standing servant, but once again, you don't really need it when you can rely on friends.
Arash and Chen Gong are extremely good farmers, though the latter needs a lot of support for it.
Lock the first copy of every servant you get, and don't burn any of them until they're NP5 unless you know what you're doing.

In comparison Aesc/Tonelico and Castoria Summer both need their respective supports to make most use of their power. Whereas the existence of breakbars essentially puts a hard cap in what a servant can do anyway.

He comes from the anglo-saxon material so the cultural link is close but not necessarily the same by the letter, but I concede/give you the implications can be meaningful enough.
He seems to be a literary heroic cognate to Bodvar Bjarki, sharing a number of traits with him, who's about as much a Berserker in the Norse sagas as it gets (he fights among other Berserkers and turns himself into a bear in one of the sagas he's featured). Both seem to be the inspiration for Tolkien's Bjorn too.
As for Beowulf's name, it means either 'Bear-wolf' or 'Bear of the honey', so the right relationship is to say it is cognate with the word Berserker (assuming the 'Bear shirt' meaning), so it's related rather than being its origin.
And yeah, I'd have liked Beowulf to have a bigger role too, or for Grendel and his mother to appear on a cool story/event or pseudo-singularity of sorts (even better if they turn out rollable). He's one of those 4 stars that do deserve a cool and more powerful 5* version as well.

No, what he's doing is forcing the concept of "the end" on to what he strikes because in the Nasuverse, pretty much everything has a beginning and an end. When Shiki strikes your dot, your life immediately hits its end, and you die, regardless of your durability, healing factor, conceptual defenses, reincarnation magic, or immortality.
This is also why Shiki can destroy objects and spells too because he's simply ending those effects.

The out of story reason is that Kara no Kyoukai, the one with the female Shiki, came first through a series of books that Nasu published about her. Her series wasn't too popular when he released it. So he took some of the core elements (Demon Hunters, Secret Magic Society, Death Eyes, Shiki) and then created a visual novel called "Tsukihime". Tsukihime also had a Shiki with magic eyes, but this Shiki was a man so that the story could be an eroge and he could fuck his female cast. Since it was a visual novel, the art was done by Takeuchi.
Unlike Kara no Kyoukai, Tsukihime was a success and it put Nasu on the map. It gave him enough wealth and clout to make an anime for Tsukihime and another, new visual novel with full voice acting and big budget effects: Fate/Stay Night.

Which is quite hard to do in a fight since you basically need to beat them multiple times without them escaping or killing you.

The reader would only have a few clues that it didn't match Emiya like since the grail was stolen in the 3rd HGW, there would be no HGW for the 4th (even though minor wars happened with the system being revealed like Waver participated in one, this is only revealed later).
This is also why he sent Karna to kill Jeanne and actively fled whenever she was nearby. True Name Discernment would mean Jeanne would be able to learn he is a surviving Servant and therefore risk ganging everyone on him before he had a good advantage. That's why he held everyone in place and had to rush to Dracula in order to get to the grail.
