Outside of Rune being aids and overpowered like in every Shadowverse meta to have ever existed for the last ten years, the current meta seems pretty healthy? Portal is good, Sword is good, Forest is good, Haven is good, Dragon is good. Only class that seems to be underperforming at the moment is Abysscraft but every class has a meta deck you can take to ranked and get diamond with.
Can't even remember the last time SV1 had a meta that wasn't a 1-2 deck meta honestly so this is a fresh breath of air. With rune always being within those meta decks of course.

The problem with portal is they have no decisions that impact them negatively.
No matter how hard you pressure them you cannot ever get one to spend an artifact that would prevent the gundam from being dropped on you because they can just make copies. Half their cards wouldn't feel as oppressive if it just summoned the artifact from hand rather than a copy.

Against Portal and Rune, I tend to use him mid-game when the Evo becomes available. Those classes are unlikely drop a lot of 3 Defense cards in the late game, so I keep the Super Evo cards for other cards (usually Reno). Against Forest or Sword, who tend to fill the board with a bunch of small units, I keep the evo points for Salefa instead, then later in the game depending on what happens I can Super Evo him if they play more small cards (letting me save my vessels and Jeanne for bigger stuff) or use the Super Evo on Reno if they play a card like Albert.
Additionally, he can often delete two big units if combined with a Dose of Holiness. Playing both of them together costs 7pp and an evo, which is decent to kill off two 7 Defense cards, but even better is that you can play the Dose of Holiness in an earlier turn to do it. Plus, combining him with Does of Holiness lets you banish big units with a Last Word effect, like Maeve or Lapis, so it's even good in a mirror match.

Salefa is more versatile, even if you don't use her evo she's still a 3/3 ward with healing and costs one less PP. And notably, the matchups where Featherfall is less useful include Artifact Portal and Spellboost Rune, which are currently the most played decks. Like sure Featherfall is better against Sword, but I'm fighting a lot more Portal and Rune than Swords AND Salefa still has some utility against Sword.
