>What is Marvel Snap?
The GOTY CCG from the creators of Hearthstone. A deck is 12 card singleton. Players play 6 simultaneous turns to 3 lanes. Winning 2 lanes wins the match. Matches are played for ladder ranks (cosmic cubes) and players can SNAP once per match to double the stakes (max 8 cubes).
>What is a card series?
Cards unlock in a random order, but specific cards are unlocked within specific collection level (CL) ranges: Series 1 cards (CL 18-214), Series 2 (222-474), and Series 3 (474+). Series 4 (Rare) and 5 (Super Rare) cards can be purchased directly with Collector’s Tokens that can also be used to buy Series 4 or 5 Snap Packs that are cheaper but dole out random cards from certain pools.

Upgrade every card you get to green rarity (frame break) ASAP. Spend the rest of your credits how you like.

To be fair they didn't intend for the twitch drops to count toward the first sanctum the way it did. It was accidentally generous, which is why the next one being greedy is going to backfire since people have fond memories of first sanctum. I remember nearly finishing it after day 3 and thinking this is fun but realizing that most of the tracker was taken care of by twitch drops. If I had to actually grind out sanctum it would be miserable even if the game mode was my favorite of the ones they have released.

SNAP is very fun for new players as long as you don't look at new cards too much. Series 1-2 is a blast if you enjoy card games and they only match you up against people/bots with similar collections so you aren't going to get stomped by whales. The wall in the game is series 3.

they segregate new players pretty hard and hide how little you actually have and how many thousands of dollars you'd need to make a normal deck. after you've been playing for a few months or spend a few hundred dollars you get dumped into hell.

i would say dont play the game at all but if you do definitely don't spend ANY money. they'll try and trick you into thinking some bundle is good because it'll have that one card you want, its a bad deal you actually need 8 other cards you don't have for it to be viable against non-bots. you'll hear the gold pass is a good deal, it's not, you'll hear the season pass is the only thing worth if you must spend money, it's not.

you need to understand, every cent you spend on the game will only accelerate you into making the game worse for you. the gap between new player segregated zone and able to actually make a viable deck again is literally thousands of dollars

Those were not my fucking points and you are deflecting the biggest fucking flaw with the MTGA economy, the wildcards bottleneck. EVERYTHING relies on you being able to craft rare cards, especially the landbase that is REQUIRED in 90% of the decks to play well unless it's a mono deck and they drip feed you wildcards to you. You want to talk about being punished for stopping playing for a season? What about having to grind each single playset of cards for a new deck unless you hoard wildcard, if you can get it.

Here's a fact: A Series 3 complete new player in SNAP will have a decent move and destroy deck to start climbing while you have to MAYBE retool half of one of those shitty starter decks to get anything remotely competitive and then you'll have to grind a new deck from scratch after that.

The different games modes actually WORSENS the grind because if you want to play historic or, god forbid, timeless, the amount of grind you'll have to do will be even higher because those modes don't use as many standard decks as standard, so grinding wildcards will be the only consistent way to play the game.

Oh yeah, here's another fact: In games like Master Duel and Hearthstone, you can get the daily rewards with just, at most, 5 PLAYS a day and you are almost always guaranteed at least a single booster/pack. I think that has less to do with snap being good and more not liking pretty much every other card game. It's all preference but I do enjoy having different playstyles like aggro vs midrange vs control vs combo. In a casual environment this is true, in competitive not so much, the best decks have been decks that literally can just power through or dodge handtraps and build a board with a bunch of negates (i.e Snake-Eyes), not to mention that depending on the banlist (Master Duel, TCG and OCG all have different ban lists) they for some reason allow degen combos to exist where you can in fact lock your opponent out of the game (like the dark world hand loop combo they they unbanned in MD or the albaz gimmick puppet lock), these combos are not consistent but are still toxic af when they go off

Yes while decks in the past like that have existed they are ultimately being phased out with them not taking over the entire meta. You can look at master duel (best example since it's digital like snap) and Crystron ends on 1 negate and instead focuses on different types of interaction. I don't think mentioning uncommon things like puppet locks or hand loops are relevant because despite being toxic they also just don't happen enough to be a problem, it's literally like complaining about Wong combo. Worth noting many decks can play through built boards so while you may complain about snake-eyes playing through handtraps it can also play through a board of negates as well making it twofold.

It's inconsistent but Grapple Arrow is pretty good too as a counter to guardians. If you play it on the next Sanctum location then you can play something elsewhere and it'll get pulled there and won't set off the GoTG card.
The only problem is you can't really tell which location will be the sanctum lane next turn.

The strat is to avoid playing into guardians and build up your power around the board until you can directly contest with She-Hulk, Abom and Hulk. Once Hulk is like 16-18 power Guardians can't put power him if you play directly into them.
Diamondback is a really key card, her and Cyclops or her and Laufey just wins lanes on their own.
