Reminber to build 1 (one) house
>>528343159Based. Best part of building is connecting builds together
blockvomiting is too hard bros...
Well, definitely didn't expect to make a villager home/farmhouse, but I guess that's what I ended up doing my first real day back playing minecraft in about six months or so. I have a lot of spruce, I have a lot of dirt, so I tried making something with mud brick and spruce.
>>528390640looks cool, gives me meso vibes in shape but with different colors.
>>528390640disgusting jappashit
>>528390640Those blocks go well together, but you're missing a floor
>>528398535>>528399103Thanks. It's a build style I'm comfortable with (walls at y=2,3, full blocks at y=1,4 and flat roofs). The main structure and form is complete, just need to add details. Might install glass panes or perhaps iron bars to make windows. Needs vegetation. Probably going to put barrels on the left side near the pond.
>>528398861I don't really pay attention to japanese stuff
>>528401254I'd go with lots of greenery to take advantage of the green in the spruce, and some red/orange flowers for the contrast. Barrels risk blending in too well with the rest of the build
the doobs

it's actually pretty neat.
>>528405823They actually got tennis working? I'm kind of impressed
>>528406725yup, and it looks fun too. think that he should have used a creaking vision sensor instead of a button to serve though.
>Craft 4 eyes of ender.
>Throw first one. Follow it. Repeat twice. At the fourth use, it breaks.
>Throw second one. Shatters.
>Throw third one. Shatters.
>Throw fourth one. Shatters.
>Check the wiki.
>Each eye has 20% of breaking upon use.
>Breaking an eye at the first use three times in a row can happen 1 in 125 essays.
Fuck this shit. No wonder people use chunkbase and keep this garbage mechanics in the bin. Why mojang wasted so much time developing this kinda of garbage mechanics?
>>528408330it's for the sake of immersion, anon
>>528367350looks cool map anon
>>528343159i like that you're planning efficient roads anon, keep it up
i started working on that koลobrzeg lantern, when im done with it, im also gonna name it "kolberg" for that kraut anon that pointed it out last time, it still looks bad, im gonna extend it 2 times into air so its gonna be taller, im not sure about the villager dispenser [glass room] gonna have to remake it to not be such an eyesore
relatively new to modern minecraft but I've been playing a survival world for a few weeks now
I wanna make a library with a bunch of librarians for enchant books, but what enchants should I try for?
I only know the more obvious ones

>mending
>efficiency
>unbreakable

once the village trade rebalance gets merged in you will not have a choice.
>>528322360once the village trade rebalance gets merged in you will not have a choice.
>spend hours on a building
>finish it
>it looks like shit
>>528431568that's normal, innit? builds only look good with custom shaders and/or photoshopped and only when viewed from 50 blocks away from a single angle the builder anticipated.
>>528431568>>528432380your build can always be refined
>>528427605At least with the happy ghast we can transport them easily to our bases, albeit slower than with minecarts, but less expensive.
>>528431568Happens a little too often.
>iris shaders still not updated to 1.21.6 neoforge
aight, i'll try fabric
>>528441484Fabric is good tho
>spend an hour lost in a stronghold
>the way to the portal room turns out to be just "after entering, take the left turn three times"
>>528442515this is why you don't just explore strongholds if you want to reach the portal, you just bulldoze through the walls with pickaxes and maybe even tnt
>never built an iron farm before
>needed some iron for lanterns
>decided to build one yesterday
>not even a day later
>already have more iron than I know what to do with
on one hand that's cool but on the other hand it took me like an hour to get it together and it's already become redundant
this is actually cool, and the constant setting for songs
>>528446120that's barely enough to connect two places 4000 blocks apart with rails
>>528446440desu I've never even played a save long enough to do that
it's usually
>build shitter house>get diamonds>get diamond gear>get bored and quit>rinsed and repeated since alphabut for some raisin minecraft has pulled me in this time
>>528418389Check the wiki for the tools/items you're interested in and see what enchants they can hold. You'll probably end up needing more than you first through, but there's also a lot you can skip if you don't care about, say, crossbows and tridents
>>528427605Any decade now...
>>528449523Depends. Are you a skeleton?
>>528449523it's a grave offence.
>>528413443i added some windows and wooden fences so the build wouldnt look so fucking barren and retarted, i think it turned out quite nice, still need to add the top, but im gonna do that later when ghasts comes out of the microvawe
>>528408330Just get more? It's not hard. You don't even need a lot to find it.
>>528452073now make a screenshot without mods for
>>528431568
>>528449523nigga just cut the bullshit and use keepinventory true
>>528453772gotchu, shaders add a lot of prettyiness
>>528431568see this anon? exactly what i was talking about. he didn't even have courage to post a daytime pic, trusting the pretty lights will save his ass. you don't compare your selfies to instagram influencers, and you should not compare your builds to people who post shit online. simple as.
>>528456201i never said im master builder :C i just build and share here from time to time
>>528431568just build stuff anon, dont compare to people, you think i compare my stuff to someone ? hell nah, like that anon said, just build stuff and share it, people aint gonna shit on you here
I found a little desert village and I've been slowly expanding it. It's been fun desu.
I keep having the problem of villagers not being able to find the beds in the houses I build further out, so they stop breeding even though there are free beds. I'm gonna try spreading a few bells around town to see if that spreads the villagers around. If that doesn't work I might have to fill a house with a ton of beds or something.
>>528456746I'm sorry anon, I was salty.
have you ever considered that... minecraft just isn't a good building game?
>>528427605At this point someone should just make a mod where you can craft villager biome clothes ang give this to them to access trades from that biome
>>528465084or maybe microshit could add better methods of transportation so connecting villages in different biomes was viable
>>528449523Best one is Quark Oddities' Totem of Holding.

>>528484751I feel the same way about square and diamond suns
>>528489908You play how you want but what's so wrong about a square sun and moon? Everything in this game is all cubes and squares anyways.
>>528490962I just find it more immersive. I enjoy the phases of the moon and the night sky and stars as well and the clouds
I need to figure out a better chicken coop design. Need something for a rabbit hutch, too. This house will be for a fletcher, farmer, and butcher.
>>528495024>Need something for a rabbit hutchI think the current chicken coop can pass for a good rabbit hutch.
>>528498683I think this is much better. Might be a bit over-detailing somethings at this point, but it's good experimentation.

so, what next for minecraft ? ghasts are cool update that brought something fresh to the game [i know its just a rideable fucking ghast but still] and it got me thinking, what next now lads ? i hope the minecarts get updated, i want to upgrade my current nether ice road into german autobahn, the minecarts tracks can be hard to make, and they could even be slower than blue ice boats, but it would mean traversing up and down, and having the ability to make nice corners instead of having just straight ice road from point A to B
Deep End update
End overhaul with new mobs and structures
Ancient City portal to a new dimension with more lore and a new boss
>>528534659Soooo, everyone who said this would kill Minecraft was completely delusional right?
>>528540560minecarts already got updated with the speed ramping up thing,so mojang wont ever touch it again, instead you will get a block that does 1 specific thing that wont ever get used
A slight redesign, added 2nd level, and a new feature. Now it finally works, though I have to climb up to the cuck chair for any meaningful number of spawns.
Next up, building a platform at the right height for a mob catcher so any zombie villagers don't fall to their death. But that has to wait until I have time.
>>528548816You forgot to mention that itโs an experimental feature you can only toggle when creating a new world, so if you want it in an existing world you have to edit some file to enable it
>>528540560I'm theorizing that they're using drops as a way of drip feeding content to keep the hype train going, while working on something bigger in the background. My guess is an end update, since I think that's very high up on the feature-request site, and the end has already had its update. I just don't think we'll see it until winter 2026 at the earliest
>>528549954I obviously meant that the *nether* has already had its update. Have a dog
>>528534659feeling kinda sad about this one, I like Minecraft but Hytale was shaping up to be a cool game
besides, maybe some actual competition would've motivated Mojangsoft to give us something more than happy fucking ghasts
>>528540560The last update was pretty good for transportation so I've been thinking about minecarts too. If the past decade has shown us anything though, it's that Mojang doesn't want to touch minecarts. We'll get slightly faster minecarts when the experimental features get implemented and that's it.
>>528549954>I'm theorizing that they're using drops as a way of drip feeding content to keep the hype train going, while working on something bigger in the backgroundSeems likely considering they started these "drops" after caves and cliffs took too long to come out and delayed a dozen little things they were working on.
can't wait for Hytale to come out and blow this stupid shit microshart game out of the water
>>528557387Hytale is never coming out. Give up.
A little question, anons: for the first time in my life, I am going to build a mob farm. If I build it out of cobblestone, will the mobs spawn, or does it have to be made out of stone?
>>528559291it needs to be made out of smooth stone blocks
>>528559626donโt listen to this anon, you need iron blocks
>>528559291Mobs can spawn on cobblestone, yes. GL with farm anon.
>using happy ghast as an elytra
>using happy ghast as a redstone component
>>528560986take my upboat and leave!
edit: thanks for gold!
>>528540560>picWhy not iron chestplate?
>>528555145Not only did Caves and Cliffs take them forever to finish, they also revealed that the allay was originally intended for the nether update but ultimately got delayed. Of course, being part of the mob vote means it could also have been scrapped entirely, despite being rough but functioning *2 years* before it finally got added. Everything they do takes time. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Microsoft that told them to stop dragging their feet and get some fucking content out, and this was their best compromise
>>528559291Mobs spawn on all solid blocks, so you can build it out of dirt or moss if you want

>>528534659oh nononononono
I'm really starting to like this idea of buildstone. I want to expand this conveyor belt and add it to some build, just to have some movement in the background
>>528613558What are you doing with glowstone to need so much you'd dupe it?
And yeah if you're going to dupe stuff you might as well switch over to creative mode imo. Nothing wrong with that if you just want to build.
I think I need to squeeze in another bed in these rooms, but I'm not certain how I'll accomplish it while maintaining unobstructed paths to the room and to/from the staircases.
>>528639934>you might as well switch over to creative mode imobut anon, the forever guilt
>>528640271I've never tried it myself, but can villagers use beds that are higher up? That is to say, can you make a bunk bed?
>>528613558Coral blocks I kind of get, though using a mod or datapack that makes them renwable would make more sense to me. Glowstone you can trade for with clerics and it drops from witches
>>528641357Oh, yeah! Just tried it. The top bunk hopped on the crafting bench to reach the bed, so I think I need something to help them ascend.
>>528642124 Why bother with commieblocks for your villagers when you can make labor camps instead?
>>528642124You should slap some trapdoors on the other side to make it look more structural, but it's great that it works at all. I might have to reorganize my own villages now
>>528643813This is actually a guildhall. These villagers are getting the emerald treatment. They're able to freely roam around (but not go outside as I put down carpet over thorn bushes). I have six (three floors of two), but as I install more furniture and workspaces, I want more villagers moving around the structure. So, bunkbeds, I guess. Takes the total from six (potentially eight) to twelve (or sixteen if I include the ground floor).
>>528644731Yeah, the workbench is just what I had on hand and is a proof of concept. I'll experiment to find something that looks good and also allows the beds to remain functional.
>>528648324this but the villagers are cute anthros instead of those squidward monstrosities notch/jeb decided on

>overworld (main area of the game, players will spend the most time here, in game counterpart to earth): is full of life and is very diverse
>nether (literally hell, fire filled wasteland, inhospitable): has a smaller variety of distinct biomes, but each biome has meaning and the dimension's heavy use of the y axis allows for a varied and unique experience
>end (the void, wasteland of nothingness over top of an infinite nothingness): has a distinct location in the center (the dragon fight), and is otherwise void of anything but endermen, chorus fruits, and sparse end cities, as it is literally a voidic wasteland.

Boa scale leggings are called Snake Trousers and if you wear them you get an achievement called 'Are you just happy to see me?' There's also a new stone type and it'll break world generation if you load up new chunks in an existing world, sorry."
Post-Notch Mojang Minecraft updates: "After 8 months in development and 2 years since they were first teased we've added Chinchillas, they spawn in high elevation desert biomes and you can't tame them but if you feed one a bale of Desert Mountain Wild Rush Grass it'll have a 1 in 800 chance of dropping a fur clump which you can use to make a fur coat that gives you +1 armor and a passive effect that makes cats run from you. If you kill them they drop nothing, then Villagers will refuse to trade with you and when Pillagers attack they'll tearfully ask you why you did it. We had to nerf the Chinchilla spawn rate twice because one of the interns has a phobia of rodents."

Itโs out (for real this time). Also, did they really need to up the version number just to add a painting and music disk?
>>528776631It seems really forced. Like it's almost certainly Microsoft's decision. Trying to cash in on a meme.
>>528776761It's definitely them trying to make money off a meme
>>528776631It's a critical bugfix update. And yes, they can't call it 1.21.6.1 or whatever, the last number is for minor updates, that's how it's always been, Bedrock gets them even more often.
>>528774096It should have been a free content pack for Bedrock, rather than something added to the game itself. It has no place in Minecraft

>>528774096>>528780080I was wondering why this didn't sit right with me, and I think I got it. Music discs feels anachronistic or even a bit surreal in Minecraft, like they're left over from a bygone age or somehow fell into this world from somewhere outside of it. I think a lot of C418's music highlights this with its more ethereal sound. But Chicken Jokey feels like a villager hit up the local recording studio so he could upload a meme song to his TikTok. It completely goes against the established feel of the game's world. It's like how Fortnight doesn't have any identity of its own because it's devolved into a mix of pop-culture references and promotional stunts. I guess Bedrock has been like that for a long time now, but it's the first time I've felt it in Java
>>528793783yeah, it really sucked when notch added the enderman as a reference to the current pop culture meme slenderman
>>528794326That's not even what I said. My argument was never that you can't put references in a game. What bothers me is the signing, since it means a villager was involved in the creation of the music disc - something that goes against every other disc in the game. The part about Fortnight was just an example of a game that's lost its identity

>>528787726Until I see pictures of classrooms full of 10 year olds all wearing Jack Black shirts I'm still convinced people only like it ironically.
>>528774096Actually, since it only drops if you kill a baby zombie riding a chicken, and a lot of players kill the chicken first, it's not really 100%, so it's not that bad. But on Bedrock, baby zombies can mount chickens, so it would be more common and easier to farm, unless they have a check for that.

And if Devolver Digital ends up producing it goddamn that would be a dream come true. Especially since I won't have to have Riot Vanguard installed on my computer to play it.

>>528947310>>528973986Calm down. You can find plenty of starter iron in surface caves. Iron ore generates more at the stone level, but at the deepslate level you can look out for iron ore in tuff and for blocks of raw iron, it could be a huge iron vein with a ton of iron if you mine all the tuff. Remeber to explore caves instead of strip mining, it's better. You don't need to mine all the copper. You can use fortune on iron now.
>>528993164desu it's important to stop using iron gear asap so that you don't burn through it too fast. i wish i didn't postpone learning about villagers, it changed how i look at resources now.

>>528917547I think I recognise your base. That's how sad I am. You should keep the main base as an inner keep and wall the entire island.
>>528979553So you wouldn't just dig down to bedrock and start strip mining. Now you have a reason to either strip mine at different levels or go caving for a bit of everything. It's honestly a good idea
>>528973986There's also iron in mountains, literally on the surface itself. A tall mountain can give you several stacks of raw iron if you're thorough
>>528983320>let's go back to the engine we had that was almost finished, you know the one that we abandoned because you can't monetize Ja- I mean because it's harder to port Java to mobile? the one that we should never have abandoned in the first place because who the fuck rewrites the entire game from scratch after 5+ years of development?
>>529001513Making a game without multiplatform in mind from the beginning is stupid.
>>529002424Sure, but it's less stupid than throwing away several years worth of work. Can you name a single game that changed engine half-way through development and was successful? Because I can think of at least two that switched and then predictably bombed
>>529002608Yeah, that's true, but look at the mess Minecraft is in now with Java and Bedrock, and it was even worse in the past. I'm just saying they should've thought of it from the beginning. It's not even about the money, just the idea that any fan can experience your game on any device if they don't have a PC, from a smart fridge to a web browser, is just nice.
>>529003404While you're right about that, I think the Hypixel team specifically said they wanted to make the game in Java because of moddability. Notch, meanwhile, wrote Minecraft in Java because that's what he knew. And it's not like people were clamoring to play it on phones back in 2011. I certainly can't blame Notch for not having the foresight to hire a large team on day 1 for his untested idea, and I think Hypixel's original goal was admirable
>>529003404Without the kind of mods that are only possible in a game that's effectively open source MC would've been dead by 2015.
>>528983320>>528983890got a quick rundown?
Lots of this is new to me.
>>529010530The team behind Hypixel, one of the most popular Minecraft servers, decided to make a Minecraft clone. They wrote it in Java because that's what they knew and it would make the game as moddable as Minecraft. They started in 2015, announced it in 2018, were bought by Riot in 2020, revealed that they're rewriting the game in C++ in 2024 for the sake of portability, and just now came out and said that the project is dead due to being "overly ambitious"
>>529011167Left out the part where the entire reason they started the project in the first place was because Mojang banned p2w and they got so assblasted that they couldn't charge $100/month for MVP++ ranks that unlocked OP kits anymore that they tried to make a new game to replace minecraft where they could.
>>528722743because it is FUCKING BORING
There are fucking 4 blox in the end, there's no fucking reason to go there unless you want to farm endermen or want the wings, it's just a pain in the ass to do anything in with little to no reward once you have your precious glider.
Make it fucking cool and then I'll want to go out and build a house there. Even if it takes forever to get there since no fucking portals or anything to speed up the process.
>>529011982Oh fuck, you're right. It's been so long
>>529001513Thats not what happened fatty. Simon had already left before that point.
And the only reason why they messed wiht the engine is because Noxy hired some fancy game management types who then insisted on Hytale being multiplat slop and rewriting the engine
>>529016839I feel like what you said only reinforces what I said, but okay
>>529004159Wasn't Hytale supposed to have modding tools? The languague doesn't matter if you have proper mod support.
Pocket Edition was actually made and released by Notch in 2011 and he was already thinking of an Android port since 2009. I think it quickly became one of if not the best selling paid app.
>>529014663Why can't things exist in the game without you having to interact with them? Nobody is forcing you.
>>529014663The End actually has a few biomes already.
>>529019161There is a whole-ass dimension that is basically used for two things, with fuck all in the way of meaningful exploration.
Imagine if you will that the End was not added as an update, but was some 12 year old's shitty mod that never got finished. It'd be written off as pointless with next to no content to speak of, and it'd be forgotten immediately.
Fine maybe back when Notch was just dicking around and doing whatever came into his head, with a relatively limited budget and man-hours to do it in, but you cannot expect dicksoft to actually be pressed to update things meaningfully unless adding le heccing axolotls really was that important and complex. That or being cunts trying to push spyware on people.
I mean seriously, you do not mean to tell me that they are seriously fucking strapped for time to add some fucking extra blocks and shit, it'd take like a week or something to add a little variation here and there, that's all I'm really asking here for. There is just no fun to be had looking at various randomly generated blobs of solid end stone, total waste of potential.
>>529019652Big island, medium islands and small islands are not really "biomes", anon. There is nothing unique about any of them aside from end cities I guess, and they are so fucking annoying to find with such "okay" loot that I bet you that no one would ever bother going there were it not for the elytra.
>>528722743>>529019161>>529024817both "The End" dimension and "Endermen" strike me as notch basically giving up as his success started to turn sour to him..
idk what he was thinking but he really just wanted a way out and had a lot of stupid personal drama
>(he got taken in by a woman who consciously or unconsciously comes across as a gold digger)..the whole minecraft project was never supposed to get as big as it did, and upon reaching that kind of scale notch was not in the position to really add or remove vast chunks of the program to make it a coherently themed/coherently thought out project.
I think the Biomes update was the start of a lot of problems; it made a lot of the stuff that wasn't in the game more glaring;
the limited variety of enemies, the limited variety of crops;
>the villagers who were underwhelming.the thing is though none of this is changeable; all of this is iconic; every single stupid thing notch did out of laziness at worse or game play-convienence at best has become some beloved childhood memory to people who are now in their early to mid 20's;
terrain generation is a pain in the ass for them enough; it's either "too boring" or "too wacky" depending on the community opinion;
>>528969572copper would be worth something if they'd add the other metals too and just DF it where there is no generic "stone" there's "copper/lead ore in a sandstone matrix";

it got too big too fast and didn't have time to really perfect itself or try to be 'coherent' in any fashion; so we got a hundred mods that attempted to make it coherent and most of which failed, with those that didn't going onto spawn games like infinifactory or whatever.

>>529034427I tried to do that once, though it was a house in the middle of a field with some supplies and a nether portal. Turns out the player only spawns on grass blocks, and even after removing those I would consistently spawn on the roof rather than inside. Super annoying. Did you get it working right? Having a mostly empty void dimension is more valuable than having a new wood type and a sidegrade to netherite.
>>529073147I wouldn't mind cooler terrain, like sky islands terrain
>>529073147The only three things an end update needs is reworked end cities in the style of trial chambers, a reworked stronghold in the style of the trial chambers, and a nerf to elytras.
>>529074956Nothing with the dragon egg? It's just been sitting there, mysteriously. Maybe a way to get a new one, a player can easily lose it forever before they even get the chance to pick it up.

I always name my saves after fictional planets, I thought tomorrow I'd try the latest version and I've not really used the latest version since like 1.8 or something.
Can you think of a fictional planet that's modern or futuristic, but not high technology (as I won't be using the high tech mods I use on my old version worlds).
I've finally started running the trenchers, and after so much manual digging it's gratifying to see everything getting blown up automatically. It's not painless however, there are flooded caves I have to spot drain after a pass with the trenchers.

>>528408330I know you're not supposed to respond to ESL posts but wait what? Since there's an item dedicated towards you finding this structure, you can presume that it's pretty far out. And it gives you a straight line for you to follow. You could just continue going in a straight line for hundreds of blocks instead of throwing them all immediately. It shouldn't take you 7 throws if you're thinking logically. The mechanic exists so retards like you have to put the bare minimum of thought in to finding the structure instead of brute forcing it. You could have a valid complaint with finding slime chunks, but no one needs to use chunkbase to find their first stronghold.

The Island Audiobook on Google Play written by the World War Z guy and narrated by you know who has to be the ultimate Minecraft spin-off experience. Not other kiddieslop books come close. Not even Story Mode, Youtube Animations or whatever the fuck Warner Bros shat out three months ago
Like, there's an episode where the protagonist starts crying in the middle of a near heart-attack experience because his stupid lava hot-tub got blown up by a creeper and now his baby animals are about to be burned to death.
I seriously can't believe i waited so much for a Minecraft movie when all i needed to do was sit down and listen to Jack Black complaining on how he has square stumbs for arms and pixelated painted on clothes on his fridge body, while adapting to Markus Persson's buggy Java proyect, stacking items like thery're playing cards in the most autistic and straight up literal interpretation of the game.
Minecraft The Island feels like playing with a VR headset without getting headaches. And simultaneously feels like A Minecraft movie without the slop
Since when could you use the founders cape from Minecon live 2019 in Java? It was something you claimed in bedrock
>>529195270You have just shown me a flowchart that tickles my chemistry autism though?

>>529210770It's all just "put ingredient A into machine B to get output C that you put into machine D to get...." just like every other tech mod. Calling it a "chemical reactor" instead of a "draconic fusion crafter" or "starlight altar" changes nothing, you're just sitting there for hours/days/weeks/months following JEI recipe paths and copying mutiblock structures off youtube mod reviews because the mod dev considered it beneath him to write any usable documentation for his janky trash.
>>529213103>"put ingredient A into machine B to get output C that you put into machine D to get...."Yes? You've summed up the factorio gameplay.
That's the entire gameplay loop of any factory game or mod, what is exactly the problem here?

So, apparently having happy ghasts floating freely around causes a bug that slows down events like falling objects, breaking items or even shooting an arrow. But that can be avoided by parking the ghast in a minecart. Which also works to easily ride it without having to chase it or carry snowballs. And to release it, an activator rail will kick out the ghast.
Well, point is does anyone have decent ideas to build something like pic related? I love the idea of having a ghast parked in a wagon, ride it, push a button and get expelled into the air. Then turn around to park back into a fresh wagon.
>>529195270>Vanilla MinecraftReroll your world until you spawn next to a village and then trap villagers in a series of slave pens and psychological torture chambers to get infinite resources so you can head to the End, kill the dragon, go back, find an elytra, and now you can explore the world a bit.
>Modded MinecraftSpend 500 hours harvesting tree sap and processing it into rubber so you can make rubber coating, craft wire puller to turn copper into wires, craft the wires into insulated wires with the rubber coating you made, dig up bauxite and a Bayer processing center to turn it into smeltable alumina and smelt it into aluminum that you can then hammer into plates, then craft all of that into integrated circuits and machine frames so you can craft a portable drill that lasts for about 30 blocks and mines at the speed of unenchanted iron.

Dumbass.
>>529282150That's disappointing.
What if we crash the cart against a cactus? If place a trapdoor on top of the cactus, the player won't take damage, but the minecart will drop as item. If we place a hopper below the rail right before hitting the cactus, it will collect the cart so isn't destroyed. From there, feed to a dropper, then into the rails to reset the circuit.
As for the ghast, as the cart is destroyed instead of interacting with some activator, should keep the momentum?
>>529295913I'm not sure how you'd crash a minecart into a cactus without also having the ghast crash into the cactus. Maybe the ghast's hitbox would be large enough to clip into the cactus before the impact, thus effectively ignoring it? I guess it's worth a try, but I'm pretty sure it won't work. Players don't get any momentum from minecarts either. unless I'm misstaken. Doesn't matter how fast you're going, the second you step off you're back to walking speed
>>529255385To design a mob farm in vanilla you have to create the proper spawn conditions and manipulate the AI to lead enemies to a kill area and then sort the items with a complicated redstone sorter.
In modded you build a cobblestone box with a "SPAWN ENEMY FOREVER" block in the middle (no need to keep it dark or build it in the right dimension or anything like that), then place the "KILL EVERYTHING" block on the wall next to the "SUCK UP NEARBY ITEMS" block which automatically puts all the drops into the "FREE WIRELESS INTERDIMENSIONAL ITEM TRANSPORTATION" block which sends them to the "INFINITE STORAGE WIRELESSLY ACCESSIBLE FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD" block. If you want to delete the zombie flesh or whatever, just add a trash can block and filter out the junk in the GUI of whatever item pipe you're using.
>>529285273Retirement time, pigger. You've been replaced.
>>529305197>To design a mob farm in vanilla you have to create the proper spawn conditions and manipulate the AI to lead enemies to a kill area and then sort the items with a complicated redstone sorter. All of which is already figured out and readily available as guides online, which you're going to look at because it's largely exploiting highly unintuitive mechanics like hopper action order and priority. There's no way in hell you're going to reinvent all those solutions on your own without looking it up, so rather than a test of creativity and intellect it's just extra work and tedium. Not that mod solutions are much better, many of those involve layer upon layer of tediously gathering 50 different ores to refine in a dozen different machines before you can make the most basic components of doing useful and cool things. >>529313654Hopper action order and priority is intuitive, and you can figure most of that stuff out by yourself. Of course, most people will just look up a design and not even try to understand it, but it's not impossible and just requires a little testing and feels more fulfilling.

Not anything I would be interested in, personally, but I'm sure some redstoners will find a use for it.
>>529429553It might be slightly cheaper, but having to wire up multiple buttons and deal with the inconsistent AI of the golem would make it pretty much useless for most redstoners. Especially if you want to trigger it from an input, which would require somehow trapping the golem between button presses

Copper armor and tools... cool I guess? I didn't really want this crap.
>>529533068I love the copper golem
They keep trying to find uses for copper, it's actually kinda sad. All they had to do was make a useful block like how iron has hoppers and then no one would complain.
>>529533068>>529534064so it's an item sorter?
>>529533816I only wanted copper tools because early game I get tons of copper with nothing to do with them. Late game I might build with copper, but early game I just want something.
The question is: what's the stats?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=542rY0DQHIM
Holy ship, copper golem returns and new copper armor, tools, and chest
>>529533816>>529534115I swear you retards are insufferable. All I've heard from people here and elsewhere is "copper is le useless" and "where is copper tools/armor"
and now that we're literally getting that and copper has tons of uses it's "I didn't want this crap" and "wow pathetic they keep trying to find uses"
>>529534210they just say they're between stone and iron, likely meaning they're utterly useless.
>>529534418I will sex Agnes
>>529534418Woah, they added the things that every mcreator mod made by juan.gonzalo.2012 adds...
>>529527076It's weird since these drops are delivering what people kinda wanted
>Chase the skies adds crafting recipe to saddles and improves leads>also adds flying mob mount>Spring to Life adds pig and cow variants, foliage types, and basically everything that puts the Wild Update to shame>Bundles of Bravery finally added bundlesTricky Trials, Pale Garden, and the hotfixes are whatever. But it's weird that they started adding things people wanted in drops, but can't do it in updates.
>>529534657juan.gonzalo.2012 doesn't need to make his mod work on all platforms, even mobile.
>>529534427I wouldn't mind it. If it's just durability equal to iron but speed equal to stone, or speed equal to iron or whatever. Sometimes I take my Minecraft world slow. So slow I don't get large amounts of iron until I cave dive.
>>529534210Between stone and iron. But you already get enough iron for a pickaxe as you find copper, it's not really worth it to smelt it down. It could be useful for the first armor you craft though. That's 24 copper for you to collect and then you can go back to not picking it up!
>>529534987>Copper tools and weapons are crafted and repaired using copper ingots. They do the same amount of damage as stone but have higher durability. Copper tools work faster than stone tools, but they are slower than their iron counterparts. Copper tools have higher enchantability than diamond, but slightly less than iron.
>>529534418I like the copper armor and tools, but it really is pathetic that it took thislong.
Copper tools is just better gold tools.
>>529534418You are a retard. You are too stupid to understand that multiple people can say and want different things, you view everyone else as one entity because you are too retarded to understand that multiple people besides you exist.
Also most people who wanted copper tools and armor understood that they would be useless unless they had some alternative use which we're unlikely to get.

>>529535385those are teams of people, not 1 spic
The only thing that I care about here is the copper chest. I'm hoping that, since Mojang added a chest made of ore, eventually adds more ore chests. Seeing something like a diamond chest with extra storage capacity compared to a normal chest in the future would be really cool.
>>529534812>Tricky Trials>whateverI have wanted proper dungeons in minecraft for a long time, and I'm sure others have as well. Basically every modpack adds proper dungeons.
How useless do you guys think the blue berries are gonna be? A food no one uses and blue dye?
>>529536389>proper dungeonsTrial Chambers aren't that because you fundamentally can't have level design in a game that lets you modify the game's environment as freely as Minecraft does.
I am going to make my copper golem go in an endless loop of placing items in a chest only for hoppers to take it around and put the items back into the copper chest.
>It can pick up max 16 items in a stack at the time
Oh ok
Sooo....
When are we getting Emerald Armor/Tools?
>>529538307when they add the glare next week
>>529538307Right after they add chainmail recipes.
>novice butcher trade
>the meat of 14 chickens for 1 emerald
>master butcher trade
>10 berries (three per bush) for 1 emerald
this doesn't seem balanced
>>529536771So Rogue doesn't have proper dungeons because it's proc gen? By "proper dungeon" I mean a dungeon where the objective is exploring and looting it while fighting enemies.
>>529536771>>529539174Oh, sorry, I misread your post. My point still stands, though. In DCSS you can also dig through walls as the ant race and those are still dungeons, it's still a form of exploration.
Can you wax the armors, chest and the golem?
>>529540128>cuteMake it a sexy short stack and you got a deal.

Ree. Also those dried ghasts are absolutely everywhere. I took one with me even if it may prove to be a mistake. Guess I'll just kill it and get another one to stuff in a chest later or something.
>>529533068>>529534064What the fuck, they're actually adding the copper golem? And copper chests? And the golem will sort shit for you? What the fuck?
>>529534181Yeah, but specifically aimed at sorting your shit when you return home from a trip. Just dump your inventory of whatever random garbage you picked up and your little golem slave will sort it into your storage for you. Honestly, I can see this saving so much fucking time for me, and it might be a lot of fun to watch 8+ golems run around my base, cleaning up my mess
>>529543627I'm assuming the golem needs to be in loaded chunks to do its thing. I don't know if multiple golems can work simultaneously with the same set of chests either.
Kinda based it's a useful mob now, item sorting is a pain in the ass. I thought it would be the useless button presser again
>>529534812My theory is still that Microsoft told them to get their shit together or start looking for a new job. Also, I do like the drops as such, it's just the version numbering that bothers my autism
>here are your happy ghasts, bro
>>529543802It's not hard to keep a chunk loaded, but you may have a point with multiple golems working in tandem. I can definitely see pathing becoming an issue quickly in an enclosed space because of how bulky the golems are.
>>529544158>It's not hard to keep a chunk loadedI'm more concerned about the performance impact at scale
wonder how many fps will this cooper nigger subtract
>>529543802You can keep chunks loaded with ender pearls now, so that's not an issue. Assuming they don't need to be within player range for some stupid reason. I could see golems not being able to open a chest if it's already opened, but you should still be able to use 2 or 3 per chest by just having them take turns. It's like sending harvesters to the same resource in an RTS; you always want one mining while the other is making the return trip. Then just add another chest for 2-3 more, and you've got a whole team going
If these copper golems only work with chests (and not barrels), then I'll need to heavily revise some of my storage solutions.
>>529534418>FalunOh shit, we're getting falu rรถdfรคrg next?
>>529536771You can, though. Either you ignore that some people will "cheat", or you add a new block or effect that suppresses block destruction in an area (a bit like Mining Fatigue) until the dungeon is "solved"
golem can open chests while in a moving minecart btw
>>529536990Good idea, that'd add constant movement to your base
>>529538527Villagers aren't even remotely balanced
Is there a simple way of locking a chest so it keeps a filter for the copper golem to search for but wont keep the new items in there? That seems like the big bottleneck for this. Otherwise your stone chests are gonna fill up and it can't move them anymore?
>>529541612Apparently the gear won't oxidize, but you can wax the chest and golem
>>529545460What kind of applications will this have?
>>529545791potential for ez fast item sorting
>>529545046Good point. I also wonder if they'll look for shulkers, droppers or dispensers. It would be a great way to keep non-stackables restocked, though I suppose a chest above a dispenser would also work as a target
>>529545857Seems dodgy unless the golem can do its thing extremely quickly. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm assuming he'll be a slow little shit
>>529546012I'd be extremely surprised if they'd be able to keep up with a minecart, but then they only need to deposit into a single chest as they go by it. If their AI scans for chests in a single tick it might work. Unless that 7-second cooldown kicks in because they can't path to the target chest due to being in a minecart
Now that I think about it, depending on its reach you might be able to have a minecart right behind a copper chest, and a whole wall of regular chests behind the minecart, and the golem would basically become a mechanical arm at that point. Just grabbing and inserting without every having to move
>>529546012>>529546747Golems can take items out of a copper chest, and put an item into a wooden chest, while in a fast-moving minecraft. HOWEVER, their cooldown period still applies, and they'll ignore the chest unless the cooldown is up. Nonetheless, it may be possible to get a design with multiple golems that'd be more efficient with them all on guided rails (with no chance of bumping into each other)
>>529547729>fast-moving minecraftlol
*fast-moving minecart
>>529547729If you stack chests around the track, and have stops along the way to make sure the golem always gets a chance to deposit at every stop, you can probably pull it off. Having a dummy chest right by the copper chest to trigger the cooldown initially means you would have full control of the timing. Just make sure the golem is where it needs to be 6.9 seconds later

Why do they keep pushing copper? Isn't it already fine? It's a great building block like quartz
Uhh rubybros, when are we gonna get remembered??
>>529551332Same. I'd even be fine with stone and deepslate being combined, so we have three types in total. It would make such a difference over the current one
>>529551542They added copper because it was one of the most common ores in mod packs, but ever since people have been complaining about how they have waaay more copper than they need because of how common it is. This is just them addressing that issue
>>529551542it was the only ore that didn't offer an important gameplay function

>iron or gold equivalent mining power>passive 1.5/2x xp dropped from mined sourcesNot too crazy and it gives players an incentive to use it.
>>529554854The tools are the least interesting part. I want the armor for use with armorstands
>>529556052>>passive 1.5/2x xp dropped from mined sourcessurely that'd be broken as fuck with mending?
>>529556192Considering all the actual broken stuff in minecraft, having bonus xp, being locked to mining stuff mind you, is relatively tame. XP is laughably easy to farm through other methods and it being iron equivalent makes it less desirable than diamond imo
>>529556192>>529556052XP drops from mining are already so low in terms of real impact on your usable levels that it's almost insulting. Letting you get a little bit more would hardly make a difference. If you try enchanting something at level 30 and then get something other than what you wanted and get brought back down to 27, you're going to need 306 XP to get back up to 30 and try again, which at 0-2 xp per coal ore broken means you'll have to find and break that many blocks of the stuff to get there. Same number if you go with mining sculk instead. It's a pretty hefty amount of mindless mining just to avoid having to build a mob grinder, and halving it with a double XP drop effect really isn't going to alleviate the overall experience much. Something making a suboptimal strategy be slightly less suboptimal isn't "broken".
to be honest, enchanting needs a complete rework anyway
>>529558053>>529556192Oh and as for Mending, who the fuck cares? You can get infinite XP from a grinder easily if you've already gotten to the point that Mending is available to you at all. Why are you trying to balance the game around endgame equipment at all, let alone around trying to prevent someone with endgame equipment from using a suboptimal strategy for their infinitely usable tools?
honestly minecraft should be balanced around the endgame
copper tools will be utterly worthless like gold tools. zero reason for them
endgame is already suffering there's too many items as is and if they keep adding worthless stuff like copper tools it's only becoming more an issue.
copper golem is a good step into helping but there's just too many items they need a QoL patch for it. why do you need a visual indicator to find your friends on the xp bar? how about letting items stack past 64 the technology is there
>>529552426Having zoom and lighning protection and making mob heads easier to get was already pretty cool, though.

>>529559567I was considering using an allay for egg collection. But then I remembered that I needed a noteblock pinging every so often as a mechanism to keep its interest and the collection system would require some room for error. And I'd need to fuckin' find one in the first place.
>>529560962Copper golems can only pick up items from copper chests as far as I can tell, so in that case youโd actually want an allay
>>529561867The alternative to the allay, in picking up eggs off the ground, would be a hopper minecart system.
>>529561867you can hopper into copper chests
this also lets you bypass the block limit on copper golems searching range.
for storage you could have the 10th chest be empty using a hopper into a copper chest. now it can search chests 11-20. you could do this as long as you want. probably want to have it in a loop or your golems will get stuck at the end of your hallway
>>529558992I've heard a lot of complaining about not finding iron early game, and it's not like this is going to get in the way of anything else. I can't see as anything but a good addition
>>529559567>make a simplistic and more predictable system>turns out to have more expanded capabilities because you can easily determine what the golem will doautism wins
>>529559567I never ended up using allays for item sorting, but I always bring them when I go bulk mining. I have some stashed at my dig sites in my closest desert, badlands and gravely mountains. Being able to pick up items in the world still makes them useful in their own right
Seems like they can only reach up 1 block, which is kind of disappointing. I guess you could use stairs to get one more, but that's still kind of limiting
https://youtu.be/iER8P7wn-9E
>>529563235How tall are they? You could give them a 1x1 access hatch behind your storage system like a tunnel rat which would be cool
>>529563235just make a spiral stair
this barely seems like a limitation
>>529553343As abundant as copper is, it still takes 9 ingots to make a block of it to turn into 4 cut copper. At 2-5 clumps per ore for an average of 3.5 (assuming no Fortune tools), you might feel like you're getting a lot of the stuff, but when you actually start building with the stuff and have to go through a few stacks of cut copper per roof or whatever, it ends up being way more mining than you'd ever think, so it's really just going to be confined to detail work and some roofs in most cases. By the way, did you know that copper blocks oxidize slower if placed within 4 blocks of each other? If you're planning on, say, making a model of the statue of liberty or something out of copper so that it'll turn green like the real one eventually, then "eventually" is going to be a very, very long time. If you want an oxidized copper build, you're better off placing them spaced apart in a big field and going AFK for a while. I guess you can use this mechanic to keep your big builds unoxidized for longer, but then, that's what wax is supposed to be for.
I want copper golem right now
>>529559438>zoompractically useless with the stupid border
>lighning protectionnever have I ever needed this. I haven't crafted the lightning rod once.
>>529563651that's the point, it's already so demanding as a building material costing a lot. and they want to add MORE uses to it? these copper chests/golems are going to make people want to build with copper blocks more to match which results in the decoration blocks being even more required.
the ones saying copper is useless dont build with it, you never have enough of it otherwise. coppers use was being a decorating block, hence why it has 4 versions of blocks, lights, doors, bricks, chiseled, slabs, grates and stairs. meanwhile the other ores dont even have so much as anything past the base 9 ingot block
>>529562552No you haven't? Full iron takes 5 minutes to get

>>529563651just load more chunks bro

I meant moreso now that chests and golems exist. People will want to start using more copper for factory/steampunk decorating to match their copper golem storage set up. Then they'll realize what the builders suffer, there's never enough copper

>>529566876Honestly, it's not that bad. I have plans to build a room underneath my house with a floor and ceiling pattern for easy copper aging. Throw a few ender pearls in there and it'll age while you're away doing other stuff. I just haven't been playing much MC lately so I'm still on 1.21.4
>>529567472it's exactly that which is just better since they can have as many revisions as they want

>Travel to the echoey depths of a Swedish copper mine, where our developers do a literal and figurative deep dive into the upcoming drop, including why they made an exception to bring back an old mob vote contestant, and how the copper golem has evolved from its first design.
>why they made an exception to bring back an old mob vote contestant
>exception
Don't start expecting the glare or whatever
>>529568957No it's not, it's missing the dot (for example, the current version is 1.21.92), so what do they do past 9? You're probably thinking of the preview versions which do use an extra dot.
>>529563543Anyone with bedrock know? Interested in this actually
>>529569356>>exception>Don't start expectingTrust me we will get the iceologer when it starts snowing in Sweden.
>>529563543>>529570858Pretty sure they're 1x1x1, judging by https://youtu.be/iER8P7wn-9E
>>529569356>Don't start expecting the glare or whateverbut they've been teasing it, you can hear the glare sounds in agnes' video.
>>529573083Um, that's actually the Delver, a new mob that feed on ore and makes spooky noises in the dark. It drops nothing and doesn't provide any gameplay benefits, but it adds a lot of atmosphere. It's inspired by the fact that people used to work in mines
>>529573083the fact the initial preview was in a lushcave and nothing revealed so far is related to that is kinda obvious we're getting the glare too
>>529401523
>>529573083Those were just copper golem sounds from what I've heard.
>>529574001>>529574278the end of the drop teaser had agnes in the dark, pointing out that they forgot to place any torches. You can hear the Glare sounds during this moment, and it fits perfectly with what the Glare was intended to do.
>completely pointless copper tools that you'd never bother to make unless you broke your other tools in a dimension with no cobblestone and just happened to have some copper ingots on you
>copper nuggets added for zero reason other than to enable the 'smelting armor' feature that literally no one has ever used
>8 different cosmetically different chests
Yeah so in case you needed clarification when we complain about "bloat" this is what we mean.
>shitty, noisy chest sorting
"it...it'll be less shitty in the release!"
>doesn't even do the button randomizer thing that was the only reason anyone wanted it
LOL
>>529574596>>doesn't even do the button randomizer thing that was the only reason anyone wanted itanon that was the exact reason it didn't win the vote, its core feature seemed utterly useless.
>>529574596>shitty, noisy chest sortingi gotta agree on this complaint, the golems are too noisy. im gonna reduce/change their sounds if they're not changed by release.
>>529574959>nooo get out of my shill safespace
>>529574596>>doesn't even do the button randomizer thing that was the only reason anyone wanted itLiterally no-one wanted that. Item sorting is way more powerful
>>529575269Apparently yes
>>529574596the chests are sovlful, they deserve a backport to 1.7.10. everything else is modern slop
I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I found out that tamed llamas attack pillagers unprovoked. They might be a good security system for my villager mall, in addition to the iron golem army.
>>529575690Why does the copper chest have the same amount of room as a regular chest, whats the point?
>>529574480It's literally just copper golem sounds, compare with the sounds on the wiki. It can also simply be a joke, "uh oh, we forgot to place torches, we're screwed".
>>529575981>It's literally just copper golem soundsit isn't
Now that the copper golem is confirmed, what old mob from previous votes do you guys want next?
>Meerkat
>Vulture
>Ostrich
>Termite
>Moobloom
>Iceologer
>Rascal
>Tuff golem
>Glare
>Penguin
>Crab
There's also the 3 mobs that lost against the phantom, I don't know if they had names.
>>529576151It is, why are you lying?
>>529576156Fuck adding more mobs, we need to start deleting them.
>>529576156We were told we'd get the biome vote losers later, crazy that a mob vote loser came back before that.
>>529576156>let's make minecraft a zooum what about adding new mechanics and redstone stuff, like a block that draws a pixel color based on input, or a new multi signal redstone cable made with the copper and the resin thingy, sick of the shitty over designed entities with uncanny animations and models
>>529575908From a Youtube video, it seems one can extend it like a double chest, although two copper golems need to be summoned. I wonder if copper chests can be crafted as is. I'm already loving the concept of the copper golem. I hope they are able to reach chests 2 blocks above them, since I stack chests in my base. Not only are copper golem useful, they are so fucking cute, I hope we could customize them further like with llamas and carpets, maybe leather armor would find a new use for/with them.
>>529576156I voted for Crab, so I hope they add them soon too.
>>529577319I'd rather have more biomes than anything else. It's the one thing that could be added that would actually promote exploring more.
Crazier, more fantasy looking biomes is what this game is needing, every other aspect in the game has crazy stuff along real world things, but for biomes we have what, a couple giant mushrooms, ice spikes, all the nether/end stuff and that's it?
>>529577516>I hope they are able to reach chests 2 blocks above them,They can't reach chests *one* block above them and you'll get bored of the "cute" thing in about 5 minutes just like everyone did with axolotls.
So the copper golems are created along with a copper chest but you can create extra copper chests, so what happens to the golem if I create one and then break the chest I created the golem with?
axos

>>529578464I mean the copper golems would be all around my base when they get included in an update, and I'll probably name them as well like with the iron golems lol. Come to think of it, I hope we could have iron golem and villager customizability as well, like a costume item or something, like you can apply it like an armor to a wolf or a saddle to a horse.
Also I've contained any axolotls in the containment chamber, I didn't like they were attacking tropical fishies. I call them axos of evil.
