Can the rank 8 weapons carry you through Ultimate Warrior, or is it better to build a good Rank 7 instead?
>>528411942UW feels balanced around the rank 8 weapons, I've played a lot on UW and I've never bothered even trying to make good rank 7s. So if you just want to play normally, rank 8 is perfectly fine. If you actually want to be carried, especially through the later stages, you might want to build a good rank 7. Although even that might not be necessary for some of the weapons with really good high-cost skills like great mountain throw.
>>528409294https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7nJsZWtlBE&t=78s
>>528411942Just go for the rank 8 halberd from Lu Bu at Hulao right off the bat, that'll make the rest of UW doable including unlocking the other weapons
wake up babe it's genocide time
So in my WO3 journey I feel like I'm enjoying using Guan Yu the most. I don't even have any attachment to Shu, he's just a complete freight train with a cool weapon type and a simple but effective musou attack. It just lets you delete waves entirely and their officers. Helps he has now yielded me my first five star weapon. Having tonnes of fun but I'm almost spoiled for choice with characters, I guess I can keep playing more. I just get concerned about the cost of buying their weapons and putting growth points in them.
My Guan Yu and Ryu Hayabusa team very comfortably deals with Hard Mode even without promotions.
Goddamn, this was true kino.
I thoroughly enjoyed all 4.5 hours of this two-part film. I just wish the ending was longer. Some of the fight scene editing here and there was a bit choppy too. But still overall an excellent experience.
Also, this ending scene is so gay.
I never realized there was so much homoerotic tension between Zhuge Liang and Zhou Yu.

>>528430368>I just get concerned about the cost of buying their weapons and putting growth points in them.Don't worry. Gauntlet Mode showers you with money and EXP. And you're gonna be spending a lot of time in Gauntlet Mode later on anyway, so that you can get a lot of the mode's exclusive equipment there.
Alternatively, you can use this guy's farming method if you don't want to do Gauntlet Mode just yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YY6Ot9V3kvs
Also, protip: From what I've read in forums, Reach is basically useless in WO3U. You're better off changing that Reach+10 to Osmosis or Absorption, so that your charge attacks can recover musou and HP (both Osmosis and Absorption are pretty much mandatory in Chaos difficulty). Otherwise, you have a solid weapon setup right there.
Before you even tackle Chaos difficulty, you should unlock the gear in pic related. Just so you know, you only need one of the characters listed in each of these brackets in the mission, and you don't even need to use them. Just have them in your party while you're trying to get the item you want, and you'll get it.
>>528437867Oh, also you need to be on Hard difficulty to get these items. Once you fulfill the listed requirement (kill 1K enemies, etc.), you'll get a notification telling you a treasure has been discovered. Go to your map and the game will tell you where it dropped. Get it and you have your item.
All that's missing here is Lianshi and you have my main Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate team.
>Ginchiyo is built for big Shimazu cock in SW and is molested by Hideyoshi in Nioh
damn, poor Muneshige
>>528413669>>528417772I just grabbed the rank 8 sword and halberd. I thought I was under levelled for UW (only Lv68), but YTR was fairly straightforward with the rank 7 halberd from the shop, as was Hulao with my new rank 8 sword.
>>528448294Twin pikes are also fairly easy to get
>>528449449I may go for those next. I like the twin pikes, even if I don't have the combos down yet.
>>528449530Even without using battle arts they can do a lot of damage. Both neutral heavy and running/dodging + heavy are launcher. The former's successive attack rips through shield, the latter's is more for crowds since you'd just run past the officer you launched, but the launcher is still very useful because it closes the gap in the process. What you can do is start holding guard right after the lunge, and then press heavy, you'll get the guard+heavy with spin successive attack, which is much better for juggling. Also a lot of the time you'll want to stop the successive attacks early to hit an officer's shield with the finisher while they're vulnerable, instead of mashing out the maximum having them recover beforehand.

I really like Warriors Orochi 3U, where do I go in the series from here?
>>528458880Be warned, It's all downhill from here.
>>528458880Nowhere. It's the peak of the series for old school warriors.
>>528456023I vote for her.
>>528458880In the series...as in within Omega Force's Warriors games? You have nowhere else to go. WO3U basically has the best combat mechanics.
If you want a musou game like WO3U that isn't part of Omega Force's Warriors games but still has excellent combat, I suggest the Sengoku Basara series.
Unfortunately, all the good games are in Japanese, so you're gonna have to play with a guide, because even though some of them have English fan patches, they're only for basic stuff like menus. Items are still largely in Japanese.
Of the SB games, you have three choices:
Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes on the PS2.
Sengoku Basara 3 Utage on the PS3.
Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi on the PS3/PS4.
You can emulate all of these. I believe SB4S runs very well on RPCS3, with the bonus of having all DLC content available.
Some of the complex combos you can do there is on par with the kind of stylish shit you can do in character action games like Bayonetta, God Hand or Devil May Cry 3/4/5.

Don't die while I'm sleeping
I want more bodyguard mechanics and customization for Origins 2.
On that note, no more cooldowns or 3 Tactic limits. Give me an MP(Tactics) gauge and the whole list of orders.
>>528475717I think DW8E had the right idea. Six strategems, and a shared gauge for them that recharges at roughly one unit per minute. But then DW8E strategems include things now covered by items and Battle Arts.
>>528475717At the very least, I think the "Order to X" tactics should be a default baseline tactic that you always have, with the stages now being designed to accomadate that you always those. I feel it would increase the tactical layer by giving decision of where to send your guards if need be.
>>528485070>Order to XYeah, I never ended up using those because it was usually easier to just beeline for whatever calamity was unfolding, then run back. Especially when Ziluan being within 20m of someone is enough to heal them. I swear I spent a good chunk of Chibi and Huarong just making laps visiting Wei officers to keep everyone in fighting shape for the final push at the end of both stages.
Is there anywhere that records exactly how much fortitude damage each battle art does? I'm weighing up mastering the various weapon exclusive BAs versus just spamming Ice Luan.
>cheap abyss keeps getting new free content patches
>AAA priced Origins has gotten sweet fuck all
Why are koei like this
Even Red Hare in DW8 feels too slow. I miss being able to equip Charm of Alacrity+20 and Fleet Mail+20 so that I can basically zip around maps on foot at lightspeed without needing to ever ride a horse.
>>528498395Pretty much all the other highest bravery arts are better than Ice Luan. On Staff and Lance, I think it's more fun and better to lean into their playstyles and (limited) good arts than spending a chunk on Ice Luan anyway.
>>528498669Abyss requires basically no effort to add to, most the additions so far have just been drip fed from previous games
>>528485070>>528486285The orders and formations should both be separate from the attacks like catapult and charge. Put them on the trigger + dpad and don't give them any sort of limit. Tactics like the shield from arrows are never going to be used otherwise.
>>528509367yeah some are just pretty much useless compared to the others, so I do hope the system is expanded and improved in Origins Part 2.
I hope it feels less gimmicky as well, like your dudes all pulling 50 horses out their asses for a charge just doesn't sit right with me. I'd rather see a return to more robust bodyguard mangement like in 3 & 4 so we can pick their troop types, and that impacts what they can do during the battle in terms of tactics. Troop types/ranks mattering is something I'd like to see return in general, I've been playing 3 & 4 recently and you reallu noticed a different between the troop ranks - private, sergeant, major etc. In the later games including origins, it just doesn't matter because you're meowing them all down like blades of grass.
>>528510485>Troop types/ranks mattering is something I'd like to see return in general, I've been playing 3 & 4 recently and you reallu noticed a different between the troop ranks - private, sergeant, major etcI think that's the unfortunate tradeoff for having more enemies on screen, unless you go in the opposite direction from Musou and turn it into something more akin to Mount and Blade where even a high level character should not be engaging more than two or three enemies at a time regardless of power difference.
>>528510485I think the unnamed officers that you see with like 2 shield gauges are trying to fill that role, its just the gap between them and the regular troops is too large and they just end up feeling like weaker officers. If they made at least one more foot soldier enemy type that was noticeably more threatening than the rest, and mixed them in with the more common troops, it would help bridge that gap.
>>528475717enemy generals should, at times, have bodyguards as well
>>528517705They almost had it perfect already with what's there, they just need to work them into more interesting scenarios as well as allowing more dynamic troop tactics. For example, cavalry being a hard disruption unit is great, but they rarely show up throughout the game. Imagine having cavalry show up more often, more shield troop formations covering archers and siege weapons, etc. Origins put in the bulk of the work bringing these elements back to the forefront, now they just need some polish and refinement to truly shine just like going from DW2 to DW3
>>528529897Yeah I really like bringing the spear wall to stop cavalry, but it's only useful in a handful of stages and at specific points. They've got a lot of great things, they just need to make more use of them.
As for troop types, and player weapons actually, they could do shields properly for once. The shield troops in origins barely feel any different than the non-shield troops, like it's just aesthetics. And the shield wall troops are only in a few specific spots and feel quite gimmicky to fight - noticed you cant even jump over them even if far higher. Shield troops should feel quite different to fight than non-shielded, with clear differences in stats and tactics.
And for the player, It would be interesting to see them done well mechanically. They've already got the perfect block/parrying, so they could add shield bashing, shield charging etc on top of that. Maybe this would be more fitting if they made a slower western medieval DW game or the mythical LoTR crossover, since it would be more fitting to gameplay that wasn't just attack attack attack.
>>528536605If you're using the staff you can get over them by pressing heavy attack at the peak of the horse's jump. It might work with the sword too, haven't tried.
I think they should merge the AI battle choices of Empires into the main game. I find the replay value of empires is much better because battles can and will play out differently due to the AI deciding on objectives on-the-fly based on whats happening. Meanwhile Origins doesn't even have the random morale factor of the older games, so the stages play out exactly the same every time.
They did toy with formations to some extent in origins, so I think they should fully commit and go fully M&B/TW style and allow officers & player to use various formations like shield wall etc dynamically, based on the situation.
>>528536605>since it would be more fitting to gameplay that wasn't just attack attack attack. You pointed it out yourself that shields could be used for bashing and charging. How does that not fit into the category of "attack attack attack"?

Looks like Warriors Abyss is finally implementing that one suggestion pretty much everyone has been asking for. You'll now get a consistent King's Cauldron as a reward after the Lu Bu/Honda clone boss. Say goodbye to ending a run with like 20K tears of blood leftover because the game refuses to give you a King's Cauldron later on in your run (but it sure loves to give you one near the start when you're only like 2-3 floors in).
>>528546651Those kind of abilities are reactional, situational. In Origins as you cutting down 50 - 100 dudes easily with one short 3 second combo, there's probably not going to be many situations were you'd think of using a shield bash instead other than for the sake of it for fun.
However if things were a bit slower and combat more deadly, those kind of abilites could make more sense for pushing back troops to make space, or charging through etc.
>>528547773I'm just saying that there's no reason why a shield bash can't also mow down 50-100 dudes, when there's nothing stopping any developer from designing a shield bash to work that way, ESPECIALLY in a series like Warriors where even "weapons" like guitars, flutes or billiard balls can be used to mow down 50-100 dudes with ease.
The only thing stopping a developer is this outdated notion that shields are only parrying/blocking/defensive tools instead of objects that can be used to wreck things.
>>528548363of course they could add a shield bash that knocks back 50 dudes KOing them like a shotgun, but then it's just serving the same role as your normal weapon
>>528437867ty anon i'm following the general guidelines in the video, rocking a Xiaohu Dun, Goemon (he funneh) and kaguya team (trinity, trinity, bounty). Dun is the frontliner since he's got a pretty good moveset and musou attack as far as I can tell.
hearing reach is bad makes me sad, i enjoy seeing the absurd hitbox it generates, but i'll kep that in mind.
I still haven't figured out how best to use musou with characters who don't just use it for a big attack (I think most of the Dynasty Warriors characters do this).
Yeah Demon mask and the other items are for sure priority i just keep putting it on the back burner, I could easily get those items.
Ty anon.
>>528550610Here is the full list of treasures: https://koei.fandom.com/wiki/Treasure_Guide#Warriors_Orochi_3
Be sure to at least get the Iron Gauntlets. It's pretty much mandatory and the single best piece of equipment in the game and maybe even the series.
Also, Gold Gauntlets+Demon Mask+Vestment of Voidance. Equip all three so that you can block anything that isn't a grab with zero problems.
Musou Armor can be either really good or really bad. It can be good if you've got an Absorption setup to quickly regain health when a dozen archers hit you. But it can be really bad if you don't have any situational awareness, because you gain full hyper armor and don't flinch when projectiles hit you. So it's possible you end up dead before you even realize what just happened.
Dun is very good. As is Kaguya. Haven't used Goemon though and I never will, because he's ugly.
Be sure to pay attention to the passives that all characters have. They can be extremely valuable, like passive HP or musou regen for characters you aren't currently using in your team. You can go into the Officer Info menu to see pic related.

The single worst thing about DW8XL is getting trolled by gates closing just as you're approaching them.
Then you get to see them open again as you back off to another area.
It's like Looney Tunes.
And even if you were to get to the gate before it closes, the game stops you with an invisible wall that prevents you from passing.
>>528413669>great mountain throwI just unlocked that. That BA is ridiculous, even without the double tap glitch from launch.
My wrist is starting to hate me for playing these games, I wish I was less prone to mashing
>>528599163It's why I appreciate Warriors Abyss allowing us to hold a button instead of mashing it to go up in a normal combo or charge combo.
>>528591325The grab that the fists have is right up there with it. The spear's dragon BA and the twin pikes throw BA are great too, and they don't have to directly connect to come out. I've whiffed the GMT and gauntlet's grab by trying to hit extreme musou officers as soon as their shield gauge appeared but before their animation was actually finished, wasting all the bravery
>>528605242Yeah, I have noticed occasions where I've hit an enemy officer when they're supposed to be vulnerable, and they just super armour dodge out of the first or second hit. Happens a lot with halberd, but at least Halberd has the C6 that interrupts most attacks.

>>528630351>except maybe his shorten summon cooldown while below 50% hp,That didn't even factor into my run at all.
What makes him strong is how well he synergizes with ice. Freezing enemies slightly charges musou. You also get free 50% extra damage from frozen enemies. Any character with that sort of free 50% extra damage from [insert elemental status here] is bound to be amazing.
Then there's also him getting a free extra Wisdom emblem every time you pick Wisdom from one of those random emblem orbs that drop during levels. It's why my Wisdom was maxed out so easily.
>>528632806>>528630351Oh, and I forgot to add: His moveset is largely stationary and filled with round AoEs, so unlike some characters who have movesets that involve them constantly zipping around (like Wang Yi), resulting in them sometimes being difficult to handle when trying to melt down a boss with a broken barrier, Sima Yi's moveset is perfect for doing just that.
>>528621429>pick an officer for your character>go through 33 floors (28 of which are for fighting mobs and 5 are for fighting bosses)>beating each floor rewards you with a choice of an emblem to boost a stat of your choosing alongside an accompanying officer to summon to do a single attack that goes on cooldown>the summonable officer also has various passives>your run is basically creating a character+stat+summon synergy that can create an overpowered build that melts through floors and bosses>each run generally lasts between 45 minutes to an hour>beating a run with a character unlocks the next tier of difficulty (there are a total of 7 tiers of difficulty, including the base tier)>the higher the difficulty tier, the denser and crazier enemy waves become (with bosses often appearing in regular floors in weakened forms on the higher tiers)It's super fun. On lower difficulties, you don't even have to care about minmaxing or character tiers all that much. The game is still very balanced at that early phase. And even if you have zero interest in going to higher difficulties, you still can enjoy casual runs with 100+ musou characters.

>>528661843A braindead obvious solution to this problem would be to have any leftover Tears of Blood be converted into EXP so that you can speed up the cumulative leveling process to LV500.
Or alternatively, allow players to carry over the leftover Tears of Blood you had in your previous run so that you can use it in your next run.
>>528657559Was he nerfed in an update?
Feels good cutting down 7 minutes from my previous T3 run (
>>528011442).
Having 8 points in Skill emblems as early as possible makes all the difference, because the extra fireballs you get on his C2 EX and C5 EX (that you can only get with 8 points of Skill) jacks up your musou gauge like crazy fast.
If I had better RNG in missions and got fewer "kill the miniboss" missions in early game, I probably could have cleared this run in 42-43 minutes, because fighting miniboss missions when you're only in world 2 and barely have any semblance of damage in your build is a pain.
>>528447230I think Hideyoshi gave Ginchiyo Amrita aids and that’s why she died

>>528650413Renbu and the bizarre weapon choices for most of the cast are a huge albatross around the game's neck, along with less pressing issues like the over the top fantasy character design or the RNG horse grinding. I can't consciously consider it the worst game after DW9 released, and I know a lot of people would rather play it over DW2 as well, but it's still hard for me to totally handwave something as fundamental as the combat being bad and praise the stuff it did well.

The weapons poll they did back in January makes me think DLC is coming, it just might be a fuller sized XL-esque DLC they can't actually sell as XL because of Capcom patent trolling.

I'm enjoying Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes so far on PCSX2, but I'm surprised that there is basically no charge attack system. Even Fate/Extella Link has a charge attack system.
How useful is 33% reduced charge time in Origins? I'm guessing it's great for Podao, but that about the other weapon types? Does it work for Lance given its particular charging mechanic?
>>528990870I never tested it, but lance is based on how many hits you take I think, so not sure how it would work
>>528990870I don't know if it reduces the amount of hits you'd need to absorb but I'm not sure that'd even be a good thing. Most of the time, I hit the max endurance before an officer is done attacking, so the charge interrupts them but doesn't break their shields because they weren't vulnerable.

I can see 2 of them happening the ps6/Xbox/switch 2 gen , at least a new Zelda (previous consoles had one each), and PW5 if OP end before the gen is over.
I got Battlefront 2 for cheap and it's making me really want that Star Wars musou that they've mentioned wanting to make. The Clone Wars would be perfect for it.
>>529074894Didn't they already announce a new Zelda musou not made by Omega Force?
>>529037114>>529040008Wait, does that mean you have to do the Wei storyline three times to get all the cutscenes?
>>529077068Not the full thing, but you would have to replay a large chunk of chapter 4 and the beginning of chapter 5 because of 2 cutscenes
>>529085909What about Ooo and Shu? I'm guessing a similar deal for Sun Jian/Ce, but Shu only has one hypothetical flag that's just before Chibi anyway.
>>529091384Wu doesn't have any special cutscenes you need to go back for, it's just completing the bonds for Sun Jian and Ce. And yeah Shu doesn't actually change anything. Speaking of bonds though, you will have to go back to chapter 1 for Zhang Jiao's
>>529091384It's only Wei because they have one cutscene that only plays if Guo Jia is alive but Dian Wei is dead in chapter 5. I suspect it was worked on first given it has the most fleshed out hypothetical route and has the proper bookend to the story ending with a Guan Yu fight.
>>529094195So the quickest path is...
>Play Wei historical route>Rewind to save Guo Jia only, get cutscene>Rewind to save Dian Wei, play full hypothetical routeAnd yeah, Wei route feels more fleshed out compared to Wu. Haven't played Shu beyond Battle of Jieqiao.
Not a fan of how you're limited to only 2 specials at a time in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes.
The movesets are already limited with how you don't have any charge attacks.
You don't even have any special R1 attacks.
You have an 8-hit normal string.
You have your 2 specials. (Granted, some of them have special properties that can allow you to change the way the attacks work, but it's still essentially the same move.)
You have your musou.
You have light and strong attacks as aerial combat.
That's it.
I heard that Sengoku Basara allows you to do some crazy combos, but I guess that's for later entries. Because this entry is very barebones in character movesets.
>>529098638I only have experience with Devil Kings, but apparently the combo didn't become fully cuhrayzee until 3.
DK would be a decent option gameplay wise if the game wasn't so stingy with EXP and new skills. You get a prime attack that for some characters acts as a second combo, but you don't build meter from hitting enemies unless you prime them first.
>>529102148Yeah, that's what I thought.
SB2H also has this priming system, but instead of building up musou meter, it's for altering every attack so that it counts as two hits instead one, so that you can more easily reach a 500-hit combo that puts you in a special state where you do more damage and attack faster (sort of like rage mode in Samurai Warriors 4).
On paper it sounds interesting, but goddamn are the "priming" attacks janky as fuck, not to mention a "primed" enemy is barely primed for like 2 seconds. Unless you've got your opponent primed near a wall, then the pushback from attacks that prime enemies means that you can only get 1-2 hits on a primed enemy.
I think I'll finish all the main and side stories, and then I'll move onto Sengoku Basara 3 Utage, after which I'll go to Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi.
I can't foresee myself spending any more time on this game than that. I sure as hell won't be grinding characters in SB2H to LV99 and grinding for coins so that I can unlock everything. The game is just too simple. It's also surprisingly animation-focused in terms of responsiveness. You can't do things like jump cancelling or dodge/guard cancel your normal strings.
too lazy to go through and count how many total unique stages origins has given how many are so large they're chopped up and reused all the time. i'd have to guess somewhere around 15

>The castle siege defense stage (in chapter 3, with Taishi Ci for Shu and against Lu Bu for Wei)>The large castle siege (from subjugation of Yuan Shu)>The smaller castle siege (Wan castle)>Stage from Liu Bei's escape at Xiaopei>The more open field (from Dong Zhuo vs. Yellow Turbans in chapter 1, and Gongsun Zan vs Yuan Shu in chapter 3)I think that's all of them but I'm going mostly off memory. Changban and Sanjiangkou might actually be the same stage but I'm not 100% sure because the playable areas never intersect, the very end of Changban just looks like it could be in the same area. And I have no idea where the Zhou Yu stage at the end of Wu chapter 3 is from. Honestly I didn't realize there were that many because they're cut up pretty often like you mentioned.

(I've seen red cliff and watched the three kingdoms series.)
>>529130735King’s war is about the end of the Qin and the period that comes after
>>528993440Yeah, I like the concept of the lance, but it's so hard to use in practice because of the mechanics of breaking fortitude. Maybe if it did slightly more health damage to make up for the slower offensive potential due to all the charging up and not getting able to trigger assaults reliably.
>>529132658From what I can tell, the lynchpin of Lance at higher difficulties is the Tenacious Heart battle art, which puts you the red state outside of charge attacks for some amount of time. This allows to tank damage and more easily get the full charge. Combine it with other Battle Arts like Vengeful Stormquake and Battle Cry Blast and you get this:
https://youtu.be/G9C06f2U63U?si=gjd3iiXUSQyHRzW7
>>529137428Right, that seems a lot more fluid than how Lance performs just trying to use the fully charged attacks normally.
If they made Dynasty Warriors Origins 2 what would be different from one?
>>529143929Maybe focus on the post Chibi period. You can still call it 'Origins' because the three kingdoms still aren't proper kingdoms/dynasties until after Fan Castle. The problem is picking an end point. Fan Castle involves all three kingdoms again, but only gives you a decade to work with versus the 25 years covered by Origins, even if quite a lot happens in that decade. Anything after Yiling is just Shu and Wu attacking Wei from two completely different directions.

I'm currently downloading Origins after playing the demo. What exactly am I in for? Are there like a lot of equipment progression and stuff? How does faction allegiance work, if at all? Won't I have to pick a side at some point? Do I get to play with/along the heroes from the faction I ally with? Is there any deviation from the story? Do I get to change the course of events?
cheers
What power level do you need for first Abyss clear? Made it to the 4th boss @ ~100k and was melted.
>>529189084>What exactly am I in for?A game spanning the period from 184 at the start of the Yellow Turban Rebellion up to 208 with the Battle of Chibi, told from the perspective of a nameless amnesiac swordsman with a bit of his own OC lore sprinkled in
>Are there like a lot of equipment progression and stuff? You'll unlock different weapons over the course of the story and continually unlock upgrades for them, though that mostly consists of different moves or just basic stat boosts
>How does faction allegiance work, if at all? Won't I have to pick a side at some point? For the first two chapters of the game, you play with everyone on the same side. In chapter 3, the three kingdoms split off and you can start choosing whether to side with one kingdom immediately, or sample each of their missions. You have to fully max out at least one kingdom's completion to proceed to chapter 4 where you then have to commit to one kingdom for the rest of that playthrough.
You'll also automatically have a checkpoint at the start of chapter 3 you can reload at any time to play through the other kingdoms rather than having to redo the first two chapters again.
>Do I get to play with/along the heroes from the faction I ally with?Yes
>Is there any deviation from the story? Do I get to change the course of events?Very little in Origins. There's a few alternate decisions you can make mid-battle in a few lategame missions on each route that are hard enough you'll likely need to come back on another playthrough to do. If you do all of them, you unlock a 'better' ending for each faction at the end, but this is all very minimal stuff: no extra characters, levels, etc. It feels like something they tacked on late in development.
>>529190765Wait, this only goes up to 208? I mean I guess it's called origins, but it barely goes into the three kingdoms period proper.... To be fair it's probably the most fun part anyway so whatever...
>>529190987They cover a lot of battles that have otherwise been ignored by the series or briefly rolled into another conflict due to the smaller timeframe. You get a lot more buildup to events like the YTR, Dong Zhuo's reign of terror, etc. compared to past games where you might get a single cutscene, stage, and two sentences of loading screen blurb before it jumps forward 5 years.
>>529189345I don't know exactly how power levels are calculated, but what's most important for damage output is making sure you have a good combination of emblems and officers.
What was your character and how did you spread your emblems?

I think I'm done with Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes.
Finished all the main and side stories after about 8 hours.
I looked up some videos of people playing on Extreme mode and basically nothing changes about the characters.
The AI behaves essentially the same. They don't become more aggressive as they often do when you go up in difficulties in a Warriors game, nor do their numbers seem to get any denser.
The named officers just do more damage to you and can kill you in about 3 hits even if you have max HP.
Your characters also don't fundamentally play any differently.
Oichi for example is still incredibly slow, clunky and basic in her moveset. The only difference is that now she has access to equipment and items that make her damage output absolutely busted.
I also looked up the full list of equippable items on an old GameFAQs guide, and unlike some of the amazing items in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (like the one that allows you to sidestep cancel charge attacks or the one that gives you omnidirectional blocking), I couldn't find a single item in SB2H that does anything even remotely close to being as transformational as the items in WO3U.
At best, the items are gimmicky, like Maeda Keiji having a special item that causes regular enemies to dance if you do a taunt on them.
But I want to be able to do freestyling combos, and this game does not have that. So I'm moving on to Sengoku Basara 3 Utage. Hopefully I can get what I want with that game.
>>529198212What are the hardware equivalents of PS4 and PS5 nowadays?

OK, just installed Sengoku Basara 3 Utage on Dolphin emulator.
Barely 5 minutes into trying out characters in free mode and this game is already a million times better than SB 2 Heroes.
>you can now dodge cancel your normal attack strings and your specials
>instead of being only stuck with 2 specials, you now can now have 5 different specials (you can modify these specials further by pressing the normal attack button, similar to how you could modify them in SB 2 Heroes)
>better yet, you can freely cancel and chain between each of these 5 specials
>judging by the empty slots in each character's Super Arts menu, you probably have up to 3 different Super Arts that you unlock as you level a character up
>you now have 2 different rage modes to choose from in the battle prep menu
If this is the kind of improvement SB's dev team was able to make in the course of just one sequel, then I cannot wait to see what kind of complexity lies in wait in SB 4 Sumeragi.
A shame that some characters I liked in SB2 Heroes (Hideyoshi, Musashi) aren't playable in this game.

Ayane overview
>Her Unique Strategy "Mugen Tenshin Style" increases the attack power of heroes possessing the "Speed" emblem by 50%. This ability serves as a core asset when building a ninja-themed team.
>Ayane's Player Hero Trait:
>Increases her attack power by 7% for each "Shinobi" emblem she has. Ryu Hayabusa has three "Shinobi" emblems of his own, so if you form a bond with him, your attack power increases by 21%!
>Additionally, by using Transcendence on Ayane, she gains the "Grace" emblem and a trait that restores health for every 50 enemies defeated.

Despite my initial negativity towards Gauntlet Mode, I've actually come to really like it.
I still don't like the removal of switch combos.
But the mode is still engaging as a way to learn how to play every character independently by using their individual toolkits to the fullest, especially since the upper ceiling of difficulty in gauntlet mode is far higher than any story or DLC maps, so you really have to know how best to use your character.
You also really have to make use of parries to pacify crowds, particularly if they have that scary purple aura that lead even generic peons to 1-2 shot you.
Not to mention you passively get like 200K money and a ton of orbs just by playing a single map for half an hour, alongside materials for the best weapons in the game.
>>529381694I'm mixed on both FEW games
FEW1 feels like a lesser HW1 and I think the weapon triangle is so strong that it feels like a monkey paw wish granted to the people that want more and more control over more characters in musou, you spend so much time just swapping to the menu to order people around so they don't walk into a disadvantaged fight and get instagibbed that you never get into a groove with the actual gameplay
Three Hopes is better about this element but I find both the story and the gameplay for every route falls off in the second half, just tons of filler battles trudging to the end. It probably has the best implementation of clones I've seen in musou though, universal character traits that can actually change how you play two characters even if they have the same class
>>528407245 (OP)I feel like I must have misinterpreted something or done something wrong. I'm playing Dynasty Warriors Origins and all the bonds seem to be romances? Is there a way to keep it platonic?

I don't get the urge for people that want to control 4 characters or even everyone on the map outside of Empires, musou isn't fun to me when half of every battle is just going into and out of the menu

Is DW6 worth a go? I only ever here about the renbu system, but how's the battle sim compared to 3 - 5 & 7 - 8?
I hated how objective focused 7 & 8 were, the maps were basically linear in how they play out with objectives being thrown at you every 30 seconds and nothing happens unless the player goes deal with it. Origins is a bit better, but still misses some battle sim stuff from the early games like individual officer morale (courage is too static, it's not comparable), officer morale raising and lowering based on X number of troops dying, officers having fininte troop counts, lieutenants fighting under officers, small random factor to officer starting morale etc. 4 also had a kind of hidden relationship system between officers designed to make battles play out differently, but not sure exactly how it worked.

In a supposed letter from Akechi Mitsuhude, he talks about retiring officially and letting his son and someone from the Hosokawa clan lead the country while he works behind the scenes, like how Ieyasu did after he put in son in power. Nobunaga wanted to do something similar with his son too.

I want sexy 3D art models of Warriors people who are female doing sexy stuff,
Playing DW7XL for the first time made me realize that my biggest problem with DW8XL isn't the weapon switching (though it feels like shit and is clunky).
Nor is it the terrible juggle physics that makes aerial combos often inconsistent (because it's also a problem in DW7XL as well).
It's the goddamn affinity system and the design implications of it.
A game with a rock-paper-scissors affinity system like in DW8XL means that officers have to be designed in such a way to push players to use that system. It leads to the following:
1. It means the shitty hyper armor they get when you're in negative affinity.
2. It means they attempt to block your attacks more than in any other DW/SW game I've ever played (as a way to force you to use the R1 switch attacks to easily break their guard).
3. It means that the game needs to find a way to reward you for getting positive affinity (which is by giving you Storm Rush as your biggest non-meter-based source of damage when you break their blue shields).
4. It means often deliberately putting yourself in negative affinity to passively fish for those blue switch counter attacks as a way to get damage and combos started so that you don't waste time hitting an officer that's constantly blocking.
I've only played through like 2 hours of the Wu story mode campaign missions in DW7XL, and I'm already having way more fun than I've ever had in DW8XL, simply because of the lack of an affinity system that means that the aforementioned problems I listed are no longer an issue.
Does Musou Orochi Z make Warriors Orochi 2 obsolete? From what I understand, Musou Orochi Z is basically Warriors Orochi 2 but with way more content. The only problem seems to be that Musou Orochi Z is only in Japanese.
>>529858037IIRC, English releases of WO2 on PSP have the new levels added for MOZ, but they don't have WO1 built into it like MOZ.

>>529857493The affinity system always felt like a bandaid designed to justify weapon switching. The reason weapon switching was added in DW7 was to make up for the fact that the game wasn't going to have as many weapons as there were characters. When DW8 fixed this by having enough weapons for all the characters, that meant weapon switching had very little reason to still exist, hence the affinity system was added to still justify its inclusion.
>>529862207Can't recall the frame rate, but there is a big drop in graphical detail that can't be fixed via upscaling. Most obvious is Cao Pi holding up a closed fist in his idle pose.

Hello /eagg/, Tomohiko Sho here!
I wanted to personnally apologize for the lack of news regarding future updates to Dynasty Warriors Origins. But I am now ready to make an announcement.
A new paid expansion will release this fall, modeled after the fan-favorite Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate model which you all loved and thanked me for. In this expansion, control Ziluan, break dozens of pots, and stand in front of anchors waiting for them to get destroyed by the palm of your hand! Yes, you could say that Infinity mode was a bit of a test run for this ambitious and modern expansion.
What's that? You're asking me for what now? Free mode? Other playable characters? More movesets?...
Haha. Well, this is it for now! Please look forward to more announcements sometime in the next decade!
Happy 25th anniversary of Dynasty Warriors to you, /eagg/!
Damn they split the costumes into two $12 packs. Can you get them with karma in game?
>>529957302Eh, the best one is the formal ninja pack anyway.
>>529954528Thank you Sho-P!
>>529957302>mfw just spent 56 bucks for 4 abyss costume packs
If you buy the costumes, does it automatically unlock the unit?
>>529858037If you know chinese/japanese, yes.
Otherwise no
Remember to disable frame skip if you're on PC. Omega Force is incapable of implementing that shit properly.
>>529975278It lets you play with them, yes. However you'll still have to spend embers to unlock them on the tree, in order to have them as allies during a run
This dude is crazy. He's got tons of pre-current patch runs of T6 with insanely fast clears.
Like this one of him clearing T6 with Kenshin in 31 minutes.

>>529944552Ryu is probably the most powerful character canonically across all of Koei Tecmo's IPs.
You know what Omega Force should do for their next Warriors game? Borrow that "create a structure" shit from Wild Hearts. Use it to allow players to create their own ramps, ladders and platforms in battlefields to provide them with new pathways and shortcuts. You know, just like in real-life battles of armies setting up ladders to get over walls and shit. Of course, add in risk versus reward. Make it so that enemies can steal these ramps and use them against you.
This would make Omega Force's often maze-like battlefield designs so much less frustrating while adding extra strategic elements to the gameplay.
>>529991821They could bring back different base types and tie structure materials to supply bases or something to distinguish them

>>530019993OK, you want to know what's weird?
So I installed DW Strikeforce on the latest version of RPCS3, which is v0.0.37-18070. And I got that no-music problem.
But then I remembered that about 2 years ago, I played God of War HD on an older version of RPCS3 with zero issues. I combed through my old external hard drives for where I saved that aforementioned older version of RPSCS3. I found it. It's v0.0.32-16682. Pic related.
Just out of curiosity, I tried to see if DW Strikeforce would work right out of the box.
You can see where I'm going with this.
It worked.
It worked flawlessly.
No music problems.
The game ran 60fps.
It baffled me.
So I basically copied every config single setting I had on this older version and tried to have the exact same config setting on the oldest version.
I still suffered the no-music problem and the audio crackles on the new version despite all settings being the same as the older version.
But whatever.
I'm not gonna even try to make sense of any of this. It works flawlessly on the older version, and I'm not gonna complain.
>>530028057I'd actually emulated DW6 on my old PC and didn't remember running into this problem back then, but I just assumed I'd forgotten about it. Guess the newer versions actually are busted

I think it's high time we get announcement for SW Origins. SW5 came and went like a wet fart.
>>530140418SW5 sold well apparently, though it didn't do Origins numbers
This has a lot of cool designs for the historical characters, and the devs work their asses off to improve the barebones game at launch. I hope it gets more buzz.
Wow, when the patch notes said that they changed the animations, I just thought they made them faster or something, but they actually give the attacks brand new effects, like Guan Yu's C2 now conjure up slashes of flame, or Zhao Yun's C6 conjures up flying dragons. What the fuck, I thought this was just Reused Assets: The game? I am very pleasantly surprised.
>>529137428So after a few days, I can confirm that Tenacious Heart is pretty much compulsory for Lance on UW, but that plus Vengeful Stormquake lets you pull off some real bullshit. I wasn't as good as the player in the video, but I can handle anything that's not time limited on UW. Now I just need to learn Podao, Staff, Gauntlet, and a gameplan for Wheels that isn't just 'spam neutral strong and evade strong, turn into a blender'.
>>530169574>Podao Probably the best weapon in the game when you're using Fierce Focus non-stop, that's why it's so broken when you get the Disc of Huanglong

>>530141141Then why didn't it get an expansion like an Xtreme Legends game? Or any kind of DLC updates?
Fucking hell, I hate Koei Tecmo so much. Someone needs to buy Team Ninja and Omega Force from them.
>>530168609You're right that the added animations are new, but they've also been making similar minor adjustments to character movesets since day one. After all, WA doesn't have manual jumping or R1 moves, so a lot of movesets that involved jumping and R1 moves had to be adjusted to fit into WA's way of designing moves.
>>530186083My impression of SW5 was always that it was kind of a lower budgeted title with a younger dev team, so perhaps there wasn't any plans for DLC unless it did gangbuster sales
>>530187917Can't really verify whether the entire team is younger, but at least the director and the lead game designer are both older veterans:
Director is Jun Kawahara, who also directed Spirit of Sanada and was lead designer for SW4: https://www.mobygames.com/person/405816/jun-kawahara/
Lead designer is Daiki Watanabe, who was also one of the game designers for SOS, SW4 and SW4-II: https://www.mobygames.com/person/710009/daiki-watanabe/
But you're probably right abut the whole:
>so perhaps there wasn't any plans for DLC unless it did gangbuster salesJust Koei Tecmo being stingy cunts, as always.
>>530187184Three Kingdoms Mushouden. It's kinda repetitive and the writing is very obviously machine translated so they feel very stiff or sometimes just plain confusing, but I'm having fun somewhat.
The recent Hokuto No Ken anime announcement being revealed as CGslop made me super depressed, but also made me want to try out the HNK musou games.
Are either of the Ken's Rage games on PS3 any good?

>>530201864Same deal as 6.
>>530188832First one was ambitious for Koei at the time, kinda slow (as in actual gameplay speed) and rough around the edges, the potential for it to be fleshed out more was there
The sequel felt very low effort, many more playable characters but the overall game just felt like it was thrown together quickly compared to the first one, probably is a better game overall though even if it doesn't build on the original the way it could've. To the south and east he humiliated Sun Quan, to the north he destroyed Gongsun Yuan, and in the center he punished Cao Shuang and slaughtered all the evil Cao clan. Only in the west was he checked by Zhuge Lord Wu into a stalemate due to the lingering blessings of Han, but as Han was waning, it could be said that the glory of Zhuge Lord Wu was passing to Emperor Xuan as if Emperor Xuan was the heir of Zhuge as well as of Han.
