i ran 6.10 forever on most cars but not for this reason, i can't really say it is or it isn't so because i almost never ran less than 6.10, what 6.10 does do is it makes engine "recover" quicker when you hit rev limiter, this is very important on cars that have to be reved out as far as possible because there is plenty of uneven surfaces where engine will accidentally rev up, most notable is uphil part of road america next to pit entry, if you are driving in very high rpm you're almost guaranteed to hit the rev limiter and lose power for few hundredths of a second and high final drive makes this "no power" period shorter
