It's actually not too bad up until you get to freighter level. Then it becomes a scouting webbing grind fest. Being constantly delayed due to camps. Or risking being set back massively when you lose not only your 2Bil hull, but all the billions you have in the hold.

If you haul for yourself, you can make some okay profit. If you haul contracts you're going to want to kys.

That being said, JF contracts can be worth it.

If you decide to go this route start adding gank corps to your contact list and give them a negative standing so you can easily identify gankers in local. However one thing to keep in mind is they will sometimes use out of corp scrammers just to throw you off. Secondly, many of these guys never log off. So Uedama might be showing 20 gankers, but they aren't active.

All in all hauling (at least for freighters) is probably the highest risk activity with the least reward.
