wt was a good idea with shoddy execution. they need to fix the issues in sf7 to get an actually good sp experience in a fighting game, though i enjoyed it for what it was. the low quality assets, masters not doing anything story relevant, and grindy and repetitive gameplay using rpg mechanics that went out of style 15 years ago brought the whole thing down. the good parts were showing off the personalities of the deep cast capcom has, and some fun quest moments and sf lore expansion. i think the gameplay should also lean a little bit harder into the beat em up aspect.

It's not really fun to be a BrianF.
I'm a mid player who does not have much talent but kinda have preconceived idea and wanna play the right way and get better.
But the game is filled with reaction checks, lots of explosive move can hit you across the screen, any hit can be game over, so if your neutch isn't as clean as top tournament players it's about as good as a 1500MR Bison mashing drive rush and scissor kicks, i've never felt like i was fighting characters and system mechanics so much in a fighting game.

I'll always stand by my opinion that unless you're a literal pro player, Chun-Li is the worst character to main, she's pure strike throw with zero gimmicks for the opponent to overcome, no blankaball/honda headbutt/terry knuckle to watch out for, no command grab or divekick, nothing like a jinrai or solar plexus, doesn't have a burnout loop, her corner pressure is weak without a throwloop, she can't even push you to the corner with fireballs properly because it's charge. There's no guess there. You set it up and then shoot them when they spawn. There is luck from the rng which is gay, and spawn camping is gay in general, but it's not RPS. It's fundamentally different than oki

Those are all team games with group dynamics.
RPS is part of the genre because some options need to lose or win to other options.
Knocking your opponent down means you accomplished something, and your rewards are damage and the advantage to limit their options for the next interaction.
If they still manage to choose correctly despite that (you eat a fat wakeup exDP) then your advantage situation is over.
You don't get a free reset for fucking up. That's called the end of the round.
If you got to reset for free every time you get knocked down, people would just do the most advantageous standing damage strings over and over and try to not get the knockdown, because theyd lose their momentum.
There are a lot of reasons it's a thing.
